Okay, I'm trying really hard to use gentle discipline, redirecting, yadda yadda yadda...

BUT there is one area I'm really having a lot of trouble with.

Sibling rivalry.

I've read Dr Sears page on it... but it doesn't help.. as it's not just a matter of getting the boys to 'help' with Gabriel.... it's them fighting with each other that's doing my head in.

They push, hit, pinch, bite, pull hair, kick ALL DAY LONG.

I try to just use the " we use gentle hands" And give them both a hug, or get them to hug me.

Or I say " That hurts Oliver/Jordan."

Doesn't seem to make any difference...

What can I do???

Hiya Gretel

I am no expert but my best friend has boy twins who have just turned 4...
So just from my observations I would say this is something that you are going to be battling with for a long time....

In all honesty I dont think there is going to be anything much to help you other than time...

Her boys used to be much the same as yours but more recently are treating each other better and not fighting as much (but they still have some doooooozeys :dizzy:)

I think you need to keep doing what your doing and then when they are a bit older you can implement different strategies such as reward charts...

Massive :hugs: to you...

Thanks Tracey,

It's comforting to know that it does get better.

This is something I am trying to deal with with my boys. My youngest is very rough. I am not sure but it seems its their way of bonding. They start out hugging, wrestling then fighting then crying. I tried to get it to end with kisses, hugs and sorry.
I know its frustrating but all I can do to think its okay is that it is them bonding.
