Hi Everyone
I was wondering if any one knows of someone in Perth that makes overnight visits to your house. My 18 month old has really bad settling and sleeping problems. As a single mum trying to do what it says in a book isnt working. I have been to ngala 3 times and attended classes there but have found that they dont address the issues that i have.

On a good night she will be asleep about 9:30 maybe wake 2 - 3 times and be up at 6. On a bad night she can still be up at 11pm - 12:30am (happily playing)and then wake at 6 or she will fall asleep at 7 pm and wake at 4am. Every night is different.

She is fine for day sleeps and sleep for 90 mins after lunch everyday - even telling me mama ninighs and pretty much putting her self to sleep.

I just want to know what services are available to assist me with my daughter sleeping problems.

Thanks Shae

I was going to suggest Ngala but you've already tried that.

A woman called Andrea Bogue came to speak to my CHN mother's group when my daughter was around 3 months. She called herself a mothercraft nurse and there was later a write up on her in one of the Perth weekend papers. I haven't contracted her services myself but I believe a few other Perth bubhubers have been in touch with her. Her explanations of a bub's sleep cycles and practical suggestions were excellent and helped us alot (granted, DD was 3 months at the time but I still use the basic technique she taught us, see below). I have her mobile and home numbers if you want them.

Andrea's approach for a 3-6 month old was based on lots of patting, a firm tone of voice, shh'ing and letting them grizzle off to sleep on their own. Crying is ok, but it's not a CC approach, more that crying is communication & gets rid of pent up energy & to not be scared of it. Her approach for an older child is likely a bit different.
