View Full Version : Teeth grinding
I noticed today that DD has started to grind her teeth. It is an awful sound and I worry as to why she does it and what effect it will have on her teeth?! I hope that she isn't stressed or something, causing her to grind her teeth.
She is 10 months old and only has 2 bottom front and one top front teeth.
It is the worst sound ever. Like finger nails down a blackboard. Puts MY teeth on edge. Can I get her to stop? Everytime I hear her doing it, I say no and try to prise her teeth apart.
HELP!

If she's just gotten that first top tooth then it's pretty normal for her to be suddenly grinding them together. She's discovered something new in her mouth and is exploring how it feels and what it does. DD did this and I agree, the noise drove me mad. There's not much you can do to stop it but you can try giving her other things to chew on. And she should stop on her own in a few weeks. :p

I heard Jack doing this this afternoon it is a horrible sound!
I am glad you posted this because Jade has just started doing this in the last couple of days. And like you say, it's a horrid noise.
I asked the SHN about it and she said not to worry too much, there's not much you can do about it and, as Martha, said, it's just somthing new they have discovered they can do.. I hope that this (along with the ear peircing screams) doesn't last too long.,
My son used to do it when his teeth first came through and i hated it, i used to stick my finger in his mouth to stop it, but hes outgrown it now
Miss Ashley does this too and it's a shocking sound! She's just over 6mths and has 6 teeth already (bottom 2 and top 4). Great to know it's 'normal' and should pass!
