constipated - is it the formula?

My DS has been on SMA formula through advice of midwifes and few people i know (meant to keep hungry boys fuller for longer) anyway he has been on it for well over a month and we had no probs with it. He was pooing ok (2 times a day morning and night) and over the past 2 weeks he has now been getting constipated?!?! I dont think it could be the formula because we have had no problems with it before? Can this change? I am going to go to the CHN or the doctor this week if it keeps up.....Anyone got any suggestions? He is teething at the moment but i thought they got the runs not got constipated? in saying that he has done 3 poos today but that was after i put the coloxyl drops for infants in one of his bottle to help him poo? Anyone else had the same problems?

My son was on SMA almost from birth and we had no problems at all, as long as I gave him boiled water too..I use to give him 20mls of boiled water after a bottle..

Thanks KM i have had no problems till now either...im not sure if it is the formula as i mentioned. I do give him boiled water too....he will take it most of the time.

It could be the formula or maybe he is changing how he is pooing lovely talk right :rolleyes: My bubs often changes by having a few days off LOL then going into his new "routine" hehe.
I would try & steer clear of the coloxyl drops unless really necessary as its not good for them long term. Try some pear or prune juice not too much though or you will regret it :eek: ;)
But as KM said try to keep up with the water & this will help as bubs may be getting a little dehydrated with weather so this could be causing the constipation.
