Sex & Urinary tract infections

Hi All,

I have been TTC for 3 months now and I find after having sex I am getting urinary tract infections as I am not going to the toilet after sex. Some people tell me you should go to the toilet after sex whilst trying to concieve and others say not to otherwise the sperm comes out??? I am so confused can anyone out there help me? :confused:

Go to the toilet! Whatever is in will stay in and whatever comes out would have anyway. ;)

Hi Dianne,

I have had trouble with UTIs for years. After seeing some specialists I receive some very helpful lifestyle advice that help reduce the instance of UTIs.

Of course one of them is to not only go to the toilet after sex but to have a shower also. So I do this after every time. When trying to fall pregnant with my first child I conceived after two months and second time around I conceived within one month.

So I really don't believe that you are ruining your chances of falling pregnant by going to the toilet after sex. Like toby@millar'smum (toby@millar'smum) said whatever falls out will have anyway.

An infection will probably be more inhibiting to your chances than going to the toilet I would think.

So my advice is, save yourself the pain and discomfort of a UTI and go to the loo after sex.

Hiya,

I wasn't trying to conceive and was going to the toilet everytime after sex and 2 months after coming off the pill for health reasons I was pregnant!

I used to get UTI all the time and apart from doing the above, take a cranberry tablet - you get these from the pharmacy or health food shop. This is for a preventative measure and Ural once a day also won't hurt if you are prone to infections a lot.
