You can pick up an E3 on ebay, I see them on there all the time. I have seen them going for around the $400 (incl the double kit) mark but if you keep an eye out you could pick one up cheaper. The E3 is the model before the sports ( the current model) they are bringing out a new model soon if it's not out already (forget the name of it).
ETA watch out for sales at the baby shops. Baby bunting had them on sale about a month after we bought ours for $450 for the pram.

I have a phil and ted that I bought new with the toddler seat. I found it great for when my 7 month old was newborn and laying down but now that she wants to sit up it is painful. My older daughter still likes to sit in the pram and my youngest hates sitting on the back.
But my biggest problem with it is when I use it as a single pram and I want to put it from sitting to laying or back again. It is really difficult to do when the baby is sitting in it and even harder trying to do it while holding the baby because of the clips. Also when you lay it down the sun just beams down on their face through the gap and you have to spend another $50 odd for a sunshade. I would totally recommend that you try one out in the shops first with bub in it to see how you like it before you spend the money. I use my old one when I out with bubby by herself.
But if you are looking for a second hand one look in the Brisbane Weekend Shopper which is in the Saturday Courier Mail and you may pick one up out of there but will more than likely have to drive to Brissy to pick it up but would be worth the trip if you were saving a couple of hundred on it. Mine cost $750 with the toddler seat and within weeks they bought out the sports model... typical!!!
The other negative is there are no pockets and most of the baby bags hang too low when you put it over the handles. I again had to spend more money to buy the saddle bags that go with it as the little bottle bags they have just aren't big enough. Very expensive when I look back and think how great my cheapy Childcare pram from Target was. It had pockets, basket, reclined easily and great sun protection. Oh well the Phil and ted is great with newborn and toddler so I got good use out of it for 5 months hehehe.
I don't want to sound so negative but when you pay heaps of money it kind of annoys you that it is not all that you hoped it would be. Good luck
Where about are u? i heard Baby Gallery in Clayton VIC sell it for $550 incl. double. May be u can give them a ring if u r in Melbourne.
I only have 1 thing to add about the pram. HATE the break. U have to push really hard upwards and downwards for break and release. It's so hard when u r wearing thongs or sandles.
However it's great when u take it to a park. it;s lightweight and doesnt tilt. Very stable and safe.

I agree that it is a little difficult to do when wearing thongs.. But I have adapted! It takes a little practice, but I can now put it up and down easily with my thongs on.. :smiliedance:
I have a Phil & Teds, and have had it for about 8, 9 months.
I love it! I have never tried a double pram that is lighter or easier to use.
I am little, so the fact that I can collapse and carry/lift the pram into the boot easily is a HUGE bonus.
Both my kids now sit up.. I dont find it any more trouble than when she was lying down.
Just to note.. You dont have to unclip and lie the seat down before you collape it.. It folds down just as well with the seat up as it does down.
I would reccommend it to anyone and everyone. It is by far the easiest and the lightest and the least bulky of all of the twin/double/side by side prams I have ever seen.

So, true. I take the brake off with my hands when I am wearing thongs, I jsut can't seem to get the hang of it without hurting my foot.
Apparently the new model has a much better brake, she it's not out in australia yet.
