DD gets it pretty much the minute she wakes up if shes awake i feed her. Even an hour later after a feed i will offer her more just encase she wants a top up and things seem to work well. The last few mornings have really freaked me though and i wonder if she would actually cry to tell me shes hungry!

Usually around 4am she stirs and i just wake up and feed her (her last feed being around midnite) now the last two mornings shes slept for 6 hours, shes only like 5 weeks it seems too good to me!! This morning when i woke up she was in her bassinette sucking her fingers (she doesnt have a dummy) nearly asleep again, she would have gone to sleep again if didnt get her up and feed her.

She would scream if she was hungry right? My others were screamers the minute they opened their eyes the wanted it and they wanted it NOW! Usually when dd wakes i change her bum and feed her and she will happily wait, shes hanging off me all day though feeding quiet regulary, but this 6 hours i know that i should be happy LOL but i think hmm is she going to actually tell me if shes hungry after such a long sleep? Oh plenty of wet bums too all is good there

Or am i just lucky to have a baby thats happy and content wish all my others were like this!!

my DD is the same

last night she went 7.5 hours  I must say though that when she does the long hours at night, when she does wake she screams for it, not straight away but after a few mins if I havn't heard her being awake

she will let you know, its in their nature to scream for food when they despiratly want it

I'm in the same boat. For the last three nights DD (just under 6 weeks old) has been sleeping from 9.30 to 3.30 and at that point she only stirs a little and is not screaming for food. In fact, I can honestly say that's she's never cried during the night and only grizzles slightly when I've been playing with her for too long and she just wants a quick feed and to go back to sleep. I wondered too about this! Same with being hot (if she's overheated she'll let me know right???).

I'm just going to not over analyse it and just think that I might be on the right track with it all

Hmm well dds never been a screamer we just grizzle in our witching hour she doesnt really cry either just does the cute little whimper. I was just thinking this morning would she actually like scream scream if she was really hungry!! Shes never had to wait maybe thats why as i know when i change her she gets all excited as if to say Ohh boobie time in a minute....

DD will get a little grizzly if shes hot she seems to just be out of it and sooky but usually i just go with what i am wearing and make sure shes got an extra layer and that works for me :) unless its like cooking 40 degrees shes just in a nappy and singlet most of the time

DS has never been a screamer. When he was a newborn he would make little "inga" noises, which have changed to "ning ning" now, and I would always feed him straight away.

I have never heard him scream with hunger in his 16 months of life. He will get whingey but it doesn't really escalate. He has never been very interested in being fed while we are out either, I try to feed him but he won't, and then when we get home he will have a huge drink.

Some babies are just like that I think.

Karmically speaking I think my next baby will be a screamer. Probably a refluxy, cranky, loud one with poor attachment too, if that's the way these things work, coz this one's been an easy baby from the minute he came out.

maybe because you feed her when you are ready she doesn't recognise hunger....actually I think that's rubbish. My DD since 3-4 weeks has started going for 6 hours without feeding at night.

I must admit I usually wait until she starts screaming, actually more grizzling, before I change and feed her and I never top up.

Its not that i feed her when i am ready, its more so i have the view Ohh shes just woken up i am thirsty when i wake up so figure she is too so i just offer it 99% of the time she has a decent feed so i figure that she wants it and my boobs are tingling so i think they know she need it too TMI i know :)

my dd started sleeping 9 hour stints at night at 6 weeks old, so its probably completly normal and you are just really lucky!!

Funny you say that my first bubs was quiet content she did sceam occassionally but she was quiet happy my second was a nightmare if he was my first baby there is no way i would go back LOL
