I have a gorgeous kelpie puppy. When its hot she gets to stay inside all day. Problem is she leaves dog hair everywhere. It gets into the bathroom (the door shut). I vaccum it up everyday and just drives me crazy. When do dogs stop moulting everywhere. Last weekend it wasn't as bad! What do you ladies do with all this dog hair?

We have a yellow lab with the same problem! He is an outdoor dog, but spends most of his time sleeping near our back door, which throughout the summer is open just about all the time. Hair is constantly making its way inside! And outside - woah! We have to sweep it up all the time & often will have a plastic shopping bag full! I have no idea how one dog can lose so much fur & still have plenty left!
I haven't really found a solution, I'm afraid to say! :( I know it's a pain in the butt because it really gets into everything! The last thing you want when you have a new bub!
The only thing I can suggest is to make sure you bathe & brush your doggy regularly as I notice when we do this, there is much less fur. We did also notice that the more time our dog spent inside, the less hair he would shed. (He spent a few weeks indoors a couple of years back when he was recovering from a big operation.)
Good luck!

Oh, the other thing I was going to say -
Unfortunately if you have a dog that moults, they will pretty much do it all the time - sometimes more, sometimes less. It doesn't tend to be something they grow out of. Some breeds moult more in summer than in winter, but not my doggy! He sheds, and sheds, and sheds all year round!
In summer it might help if you get your dog clipped?

One of my parent's neighbours used to collect all the hair from brushing their dog and spin it into wool for knitting. I'd have thought the final knitted thing would be a bit itchy though...
I don't have a solution to stop shedding though. Just lots of brushing as suggested already.

I always thought it was long haired dogs that are really bad. She doesn't moult in winter thank goodness!

Its a common misconception that only long haired dogs shed !
Short haired dogs shed & sometimes can be worse than their longer haired counterparts.
I too had a Labrador who was a champion shedder & her groomer even said she wasnt as bad as another Lab she groomed
My suggestion would be a daily brush of doggie & sweep down of outside when you clean up little messes this would at least keep things a little tidier.
Some breeds are heavier shedders where they drop all the time whereas others only shed once or twice a year.
Unfortunately it sounds like your doggie will shed constantly but id say it will be worse in summer which is standard.
Keeping on top of it is the best option.

Hi,
I have an alaskan malamute and she sheds all year round and twice a year she has a major shed where she sheds her undercoat, brushing regularly and bathing regularly helps but I always have hair in the house but it is a small price to pay as she is the best dog in the world
Kelly:hugs:
I have one German Shepherd and one GSD x Kelpie, and they both shed constantly as well......I'm actually not sure why they aren't both bald at times  .
There is no real solution for the hair everywhere I"m afraid, but a couple of things we've done which help are:
1) bought a dyson vaccuum cleaner....hideously expensive for a vaccuum cleaner I know, but it really does do the job properly and it means I don't have to vaccuum every single day:p . After literally blowing up about 6 vaccuum cleaners because they couldn't cope with the hair I finally bit the bullet and bought the dyson. It does seem to get the hair right out of the carpet, which the others couldn't do
2) This summer we clipped our dogs for the first time because they were struggling in the heat (especially the GSD). They do look a bit ridiculous, but a marvellous side effect was no more hair in the house!. Of course it does grow back and they just start shedding again, but living in QLD we can keep them clipped for almost six months of the year which is great.
And as Kelly said, picking up hair is a small price to pay for having our four legged family members!.
Good luck!
