Help? My nearly 6 month old is a pretty good sleeper in the day and excellent at night but the problem is that she will not sleep anywhere else except for her cot and when we are out this is a huge problem. She gets very cranky and irritable and is also going through a clingy stage for a couple of months now so no-one else seems to be able to take her without her screaming. Once my husband and I take her she will stop. We were at a cafe yesterday and I would love to be able to leave her in the pram or put her on someone's bed but instead we have to walk with her or she will arch and get upset. At home she just goes into her cot awake and puts herself to sleep. Any ideas much appreciated!! PS. still learning how to use the forum so apologies if I do not respond
Hi Charmain,
I think a lot of bubs out-grow pram sleeping - I hope someone else comes along with an answer for that one!
Just wanted to ask if you had a portacot. I put my DS in it for his afternoon sleep everyday, so he is now very used to it, and happily puts himself to sleep in it if we are at someones house etc. Maybe this would be a worthwhile investment for you. I got mine at Target for around $100.

Thanks Shelby. We do have a portacot and I think it's time we actually used it. I have never tried Jade in it but think I'll take you up on that one. Thanks again.

Does your DD sleep on her back still? Because if not then that may be the problem with her sleeping in the pram, she just can't get comfortable. My dd would settle best on her side and we had a bit of problem with the pram. Finally I tried laying down the back and turning her on her side in it, with just one arm and the leg strap done up. And she would finally sleep in it again.
Good luck.
what about making sure that she has something OUT of the cot with her??? just so that it smells the same? comfort wise...
When I was out the only way that my Dh could get Jack to sleep was to hold one of my shirts up against him (so that he would smell pretty  ) - Jack doesn't need that now that he is older - but we always take one of his blankets ... just so that something is the same..

Don't have any answer but if it helps you are not alone.
My little man has always hated his pram, has only slept in it on a handful of occasions in 8 months and only once was it without quite a battle. While he may tolerate it for a couple of hours of night sleep, during the day the best we could get was a hard fought 20mins. Patting for 40mins to get 20mins desperately needed nap isn't much fun, so we only tried when absolutely necesary. It can sure make life very limiting. Fortunately he has now cut back to two naps a day so it is a little easier to juggle around and as he gets older that will reduce to one :fingerscrossed: If nothing else solves it at least there's some hope for the future.
