Can someone please tell me where to adjust my pattern to prevent wing droop.
what pattern are you using?

Bek i made it up myself. It is a front snap pocket. This is the only thing going against it at this point. Everything else i love about it, i just can't figure out how to iron out this last kink.
Would changing the angle of your snaps or tape work?
how many snaps are you using? in what configuration? are your tabs crossed over? how wide is the front of the nappy? got a picture you can post?

No pic sorry.
The nappy snaps similar to a BBB and has cross over wings, but the wings are much longer than a BBB. It is also wider in the front. I might try putting the second snap further along similar to the Wee Weka fitted and see if that help. Any other suggestions?
The reason i have done it this way is that my DS is a solid little chap and i wanted to allow room for growing. Even like this he is only 3 snaps in from the edge. Also i wanted it cross over because DD2 is petite so far and i think she will stay like that, so i want it to fit her too when she is old enough.
ok, so, let me see if i'm visualising it right...
it has 2 snaps on each wing, in a single row.
if he's 3 snaps in from the edge, you must have about 10? snaps across the front? or is your ds on the tightest setting without crossing over and you have 8 snaps across the front?
moving your snaps further apart like on the wee weka might help a bit. having the front of the nappy wide enough so it tucks around the sides of baby's body should help too. make sure the rise is long enough to fit comfortably round the legs - if the rise is a bit short the leg-holes won't sit properly which pulls down on the sides of the wings, making droop worse. you could also try a second row of snaps.
if your ds is on the tightest setting now, chances are he's likely to grow out of the rise before getting 'fat' enough to need the widest snap settings. you may find shortening the wings helps. that will help with it fitting your dd when she's old enough.
what size/weight range are you trying to make it to fit?

Yep, your visual is pretty right.
10 snaps across the front and it isn't on the tightest setting.
I made another one last night with snaps on the wings further apart and will give that a go today. I think the front is wide enough but maybe it needs to be more.
Rise seems good to me. If this snap configeration doesn't work then i might try a second row.
DS is 22m so really i am looking to get something that will fit from somewhere between 18m and 2.5y.
the other thing that occurred to me is that maybe the crotch of the nappy is a bit too wide at the front which would also drag the sides of the front down.
to be honest, I think you could probably shorten your wings without it being likely that your son would grow out of it width-wise - my experience has been that kids grow 'up' a lot more than 'out' once they're over 18mths (but maybe my kids are just weird, lol!) and growth rates are usually slower too, unlike the huge growth rate they have in the first 18mths.
but having said that, it may still droop on the tighter settings unless we solve the other probable issues, so worth playing with a few more adjustments.

i know what you mean about up more than out!
I just want to avoid having no room to grow, he is on the last snaps on BBB so i wanted something bigger than that.
Maybe it is a crotch issue, it is quite wide. I think i will adjust there next.
Have got it in the wash at the mo so willl try it on him later but i think just by looking at it i have not yet solved the problem.
Thanks for your assistance Bek, 2 heads are always better than 1 and no one i know sews.
no worries, lol, hope something i've said in the middle of my raving has been useful!

Tried it on DS and yes i still have the wing droop issue. I think i will take the extra snaps off, so only 8 across the front and trim the wings down a little. Also check the crotch out. A complete redraw me thinks. Anyway atleast the rise is good and it fits, no leaks!

Yippee!! A pattern redraw and modification of shape of tummy piece has fixed my wing droop issue!
It's looking great now.
great to hear :)
isn't it satisfying when you finally get something you're happy with!
