Hi everyone

I already posted yesterday about bf more often in hot weather.

It also seemed to me that yesterday bub was more interested in the foremilk than the hindmilk, as she was very reluctant to finish off each side before switching to the other boob.

But remembering all that I have been told about ensuring they get the hindmilk, I kept her on each side until it was empty before swapping to the other boob. Anyways, the result of this was 2 huge spews last night, the biggest she has ever done :barf::barf:

Thinking back I am wondering if this is because she wanted to quench her thirst with the foremilk, but I kept offering her the hind milk? :detective: Anyone else have any thoughts on this...

Today is another hot day, and I am going to let her swap sides whenever she wants and see how we go! :fingerscrossed: we can avoid the big spews, I don't want to clean the couch again!

Hi Springpetal, how are you?

From what ive read and been told by a LC at the ABA, just forget about the fore and hindmilk, we worry way too much about it and bub will get exactly the quality and quantity of milk that she needs from you.

I used to worry about it myself and try and make her stay on each boob for as long as she could and get so stressed out if she didnt.

Im sure there are more experienced girls on here who will give you the right advice, but i just wanted to let you know what i was told.

I don't think its really matters to much well in my case anyway DS2 stays on 1 side until he starts to fuss so we burp then swap sides even if im not fully empty but saying that i express whats left after most feeds during the day and overnight as by the afternoon i don't have much milk and hes gaining about 500gms a fortnight

so he is obviously getting more than enough of the hind milk

i wouldn't worry about it to much as long as shes has enough wet nappies, settled, :ecomcity::ecomcity:
