View Full Version : BF more in hot weather?
Hi there
This may be silly question, but today is the first really hot day we've had at our place, and bub seems to want to feed more often than usual.
She is 8 weeks old and had just settled into a 3-4 hourly routine, but today is wanting to feed 2-2 1/2 hourly. Could this just be because it is hotter today, therefore she wants more?
TIA! :)

Well its not called demand feeding for nothing! If she wants it, especially in hot weather go for it. It will help your supply and she may be having a growth spurt anyways.
After 3 kids, I don't believe in routine! LOL

We've been feeding all day too :)
Make sure you keep up your own water intake :)

perfectly normal...i mean we drink more in hot weather dont we..
i second the no routine thing:yes: we dont regulate what time we eat do we..."its 2pm and i am hungry but i cant eat 'til 3pm"
if bub is hungry feed her
I am demand feeding, was just curious as yesterday she was feeding every 3-4 hours, and today a lot more often. But I just go with the flow... she knows what she needs and when

Yep, absolutely normal.
Remember milk isn't just food - its fluid too. It makes sense that bub would be thirstier in hot weather. Like somebody else said - make sure you keep up your water intake too.
