she is having three solid meals a day now, and still having breast feeds all over the place. I would like to regulate it a bit, as she is just snacking on the breast and has started to wake every two hrs at night for a snack, so am wondering whats the ideal number of feeds she should be having at this age.

at 8 months ds1 was having 4-5 feeds a day, he was pretty much in a routine by then but some days fed more or less.

Yep - I'd say 4-5.
At 8 months DD was having 3 small meals plus a BF for breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

DS is a snacker as well. He also often wakes several times a night wanting feeding.

He's not big on solids, although I generally offer it to him 2-3 times a day. Sometimes he eats it, sometimes he doesn't.

I demand feed him (or often just give him a top-up if he's cranky, which seems to be a lot lately - thank you teething!!) and I reckon he probably has around 6 feeds a day (not including middle of the night feeds). These aren't all big long feeds - he probably would only have a couple of those a day.

My DD feeds every 5 hrs at night, and every 3 or 4 during the day.

If she asks for it, give it to her. My DD sorted out her own routine, I just help her keep it up.

DD was having about 4 feeds at that age - but she was never a big eater. She would sleep 12hrs at night, then have boob at breakie, lunch, arvo snack & dinner.

DS is a booby monster! He is almost 8 months, and has 5-7 feeds a day + 3 solid meals. He is also 9kg, so a big boy, but not huge.

Have you tried giving a roll over feed? I started doing that at around 9 months and then I tried to not feed him during the night until he got used to it.
