Is there a specific period of time that a company should take a direct debit from your account?

My health insurance is due on the 20th and they still haven't taken Novembers - this happens every month and I know one month they will try and take it and it won't be there as I have forgotten it hasn't come out - I thought their was a timeframe but can't find anything on the paperwork they originally sent???

if they have said it is due on the 20th, i would think it should come out on the 20th

we pay ours fortnightly and it is every second friday, every time it is due with out fail it is taken out just befor midnight

mine always come out on their due dates.

I would be contacting them and asking what the story is, that it is too hard when they are unreliable and you are thinking about switching to someone you can count on.

The only time a direct debit shouldn't come out is usually if the date falls on the weekend or a public holiday??
If this is the case with me, it comes out the following Monday etc.

Its a bit slack if they have failed to take out Novembers and its December though.
