We decided that we would find out the sex of peanut. As this is a first child, we want to be prepared as much as we can.

Well if we are pregnant this time (stupid pregnancy tests) we will find out. As this is our second, we didnt find out with number #1 so we wanted something different this time. we probably will keep it to our selves though.... just in case!!

It is going to absolutely kill me not to find out but I think that as its our first I would love that added excitement of not knowing. Something to look forward to after the labour!

My BF went for her 18 week scan yesterday. She found out the sex. Now that we all know that she is having a boy it sort of takes away alot of the fun. (the mystery is gone i guess)
DF still thinks he would like to know, i am trying to convince him otherwise. If he still wants to know at 18weeks. He is sworn to secrecy as i dont want anyone else to know.

We'll be finding out at the 19 week scan but I think we will also try to keep it to ourselves - might be hard though if I start referring to it as a he or she!

He really wants to know what the baby is and now i've started looking at baby clothes ETC .. everything is either pink or blue .. i can't believe how much it's changed in 5 years!
So I reckon we'll be finding out .. if they can see hehe!

For sure we will be finding out.

I find it hilarious that some think finding out spoils something or lessens the magic somehow. I'm all for the choice of finding out or not finding out, but it most certainly does not 'ruin' anything to find out the baby's gender. It's just personal preference.

A lot of people said to me (we found out last time and will again this time), "now you've got nothing to look forward to". LOL! Um, you mean apart from the safe arrival of our beloved boy that we'd never seen before and would be the start of our little family????

Um, if you find out, you're still excited about meeting a whole brand new little person.

If you want a surprise, go for it! But it's not 'better' or 'worse'.

DH and I always said we wouldn't find out but now that we are having twins, he is starting to stress about being prepared and would prefer to find out. Originally I said no but now it doesn't really bother me.

So Yes we will find out!

Hi All

Hey tara28 I have nearly 4 year old twins and number3 due 22/07/08 and we found out with the twins but have decieded not to this time as it makes no difference because we have a boy and a girl. However when the twins were just over 2 we sold everything as we didnt think we would have anymore how time changes your way of thinking. So everyone is looking forward to a new baby and I'm feeling like I wish it was July. DH is fantastic with DS and DD so have been a to throw up in peace. This pregnancy very different from the last as did not have any sickness at all last time. Good luck just to reassure you my two were born 33 weeks and all is great. My girlfriends twins were 26 weeks and we were due the same week and her two are doing just as well.

Tara28 where are you situated?

I'm in Brisbane

We are not going to find out. If I know I will keep on buying things. At least by not knowing you are a bit restricted in what you can buy. How many things are gender specific these days. I can't even find a cot set that is really neutral.

My mum is going to head to the shops when I have the bub to buy a nice going home outfit to suit a boy or girl.

I can't wait to have my little bub. 26 weeks seems like a lifetime away at the moment.

Hey, I know it is really awkward question :o but i am really curious to know.... Is it really possible to know the sex of the baby in 13 weeks... I just had appointment with my obstetrician and as per her its too early to tell sex of the baby....

I think it depends where you go, and how good their equipment is, and how experienced the doc is. Where i went they just told me more chance of boy than girl, and he will def be able to tell me at 18 weeks.. About ten of my friends have been to the same guy and he has correctly been able to identify the sex at 12 weeks of everyone.. But i am secretly hoping he got it wrong this time, but not much chance of that. He is a bit of an expert in his field though. If you are from Melbourne his name is Dr Andrew Ngu and works from East Melbourne Ultrasound.

We have 2 boys already also. Didn't find out with either of them, but I HAVE to know this time as i really need to prepare myself if i am going to live life in an all male family! Fingers crossed for a girl here too!

DH however doesn't want to know the sex, SO i am finding out, but not telling him. I am going to get the sonographer to write it on some paper for me so i can look at it later as my mum is coming to the scan with me... and she would blab. SO we wont be telling people IRL, but i will probably share with online friends

Oh on the 12 week scan possibility of gender determination- YEP is possible. Sadly, ours tried to get a good look, but couldn't. It is all about angles apparently.

Hi Nicky. I am starting to feel really nervous about the whole thing. All the books I read makes me stress that I am going to be a walking zombie and not cope with much at all.

I am glad to hear that having your twins at 33 weeks gave you healthy babies. Everyone asks when you are due and says oh you've got ages to get ready but I think I had better get my butt into gear by the sounds of it.

I am near Ipswich.

My husband is already talking about having MORE! AHHHHHHH.

Hi Tara

Will you go to the Mater or Ipswich? Its so funny because with my twin pregnancy I didn't have any M/S this time around I just feel yuk! My twins were spontanous labour with my sons waters breaking and labour started about 3 hours later. He was 2.5kg at 33 weeks which was well above average singleton baby for same gestation. My daughter very average at 1850grams. Birth was really good both VB, hope it will be the same this time. There is 20mins between my two. If you want to ask any questions feel free.

Nicky

Hi everyone,
Thought I would share the latest. Our Sonographer gave us a 70% chance that she thinks we are having 3 girls! One part of us feels that she is very ambtitous to say anything at this stage. But......Do you think she must be pretty confident to tell us anything at all?
I know we are blessed either way but my poor DH & DS, if she is right!!!

Thanks for the info about your birth Nicky.

We are hoping to have our babies in Ipswich although if before 32 weeks then going to Mater or Royal (hopefully mater as Sis-in-law works there).

Can you tell me how far along you were when you first started to feel them moving. I realise that everyone is different but I am already sitting and trying to figure out all the different pains I feel just in case it is some baby movement. I don't think it is!

Am I just paranoid is did anyone else stress between the time that m/s seemed to finnish and you started to feel movements? I wonder if everything is ok as I am generally feeling alright now (just tired and fatter).

Since I've posted in this thread Ive changed my mind LOL!

DH and I have decided that we are going to find out. The scan is on the 13th Feb, the day before Valentines Day. We are getting the sonographer to write it down and place it in an envelope and then we are opening it Valentine's Day as our present to each other :)

First time pregnancies usually don't recognise that they are feeling it till much later. Usually about 18-20 weeks.

I am pretty sure i am feeling movements- and this is my 3rd, but it doesn't stop the stressing! it is the hardest time for me because i have no real symptoms, my belly isn't that noticable yet, and till that 20 week scan, it is just hard to believe that i still am pregnant.

We are still in discussion about if we will find out or not. I asked DH again last night if we could, and he said he wants to think about it!
I told him that even if we do find out, we can just tell people that we didn't, lol!
I'm not too fussed either way at the moment to find out or not, but I spose it would be nice to know, lol!
Our scan is on Feb 14th - Valentines Day....perhaps we could go out for dinner that night to celebrate if we do find out!

We found out with DS but kept it a surprise from everyone...no one knew but it's funny because everyime something boy/girl would happen, it'd go boy. At the baby shower all the pink balloons popped & only the blue ones were left standing.

We will find out with this one too but not tell anyone close. I am almost convinced it's a girl but want to know for sure.

I have heard stories that people have their hearts set on on gender then don't find out then have the baby & it's not what they'd hoped for so they've become post natal...after hearing that I definately don't want it to happen to me so I'd like to be prepared even though we will be extatic that the baby is healthy & has 10 fingers & toes :)
