Need Some Advice

ok i was talking to a friend of mine today who knows we are ttc and told her that we got our BFP and i told i tested early anyway she told me not to get two excited cause the pregnancy test could of been wrong so my question is can a bfp on a pregnancy test be wrong i have done two and both were the same brand and both of them gave me a BFP.both test could'nt be wrong could they.

If left for too long (say after 10-15 min) an evaporative line can appear, but I hardly get these and I have used heaps of different brands. I dont trust prognosis otherwise a line is a line.
My problem is seeing a BFP then AF showing up late. (This has happened to me 3 times already)

It could be an evap line, but they are colourless/grey shadowey like.

Other than that, I'd say you are! How far do you think you are?

When you test early you may have a positive but have an early miscarriage or chemical pregnancy. Thats one reason I have tested everyday for over a week when I first got a positive and I am also having bloods every couple of days to watch the levels, I am paranoid. If the line came up within the time frame both times I would say you have hcg in your system. Go get a blood test, it will tell you how much is there and if you are pregnant the levels will go up in 2-3 days.

the lines came up within 5 min if i am pregnant i will be 4 weeks in 3 days

I think a doctor and blood tests are the way to go. If you are only 3 weeks 4 days I am very surprised you got a positive this early or earlier(though I got a very faint one on first response at what i thought was 3 weeks 5 days, but I think my dates are out by 1 or 2 days)

Monique, i think it is pretty certain you are PG, but if you are really worried, maybe try another brand with your first morning urine tomorrow. Or a blood test. Does it feel like AF is coming?

I dont think it is a good idea to get too excited til you have blood tests. I know you want to, but it is very early still. If you are not even due for your period yet you may not even get a positive blood test. Mine was equivocal at 3 weeks 6 days(under 25) but two days later it was positive and it has now jumped from under 25 to 1200 in 9 days. Best of luck :hugs:

kittykatz i dont feel like af is coming i have heaps of cm witch i have when i am pregnant by this time af was to turn i dont have this much cm i might wait to the end of the week and test again with al my other pregnancy when i got a bfp i was pregnant with Tyran i test early and got a bfp but who knows i think i will leave it until the end of the week and test again.

singa06 did prognosis give you a wrong reading.

Hi Monique, with 5 pregnancies, i'd say you know your body pretty well. I guess we'll know for sure if AF arrives.

But good luck anyway, i guess there is a tiny possibility the test is wrong, but my gyno said it is very unlikely to have a false positive, especially if it comes up within 5 minutes.

I don't want to be the big bad wolf here but sometimes if you've had a recent mc the hormone can stay in your body and give you a pos test. But in saying that you're supposed to be more fertile right after a mc. If you feel preg then I would say yes believe the test because as the other girls have said you know your body and you've done it before. I only wanted to tell you about the mc part because its happened to me. Goodluck!!!

I didnt realise you had a miscarriage :( Is it even possible for you to be pregnant 20 days after a miscarriage?
I dont want to give you false hope but *maybe* you are still pregnant? Is there any way you could be?

no i had have blood test down after i had a mc and my bloods came back that everything was normal again.

Yes. I will never use them again (the line appeared before the 10 min and dh saw it as well) I used another brand the same time and BFN.

I stick to Discover, Crystal Clear and Lullaby conceptions.

congrats. crystal clear just didnt work for me, when my levels were 558 the second line was so faint it was almost invisible

Hi Monique - I have limited experience with HPT's but a lot of experience in TTC!

Firstly whilst pregnant with DD in 2004 I did 2 different brand HPT at what turned out to be 5 weeks pregnant then again at 5 weeks and 5 days pregnant. Both were negative. Then my GP did a urine preg test at 6 weeks and it was also negative. Had a blood test from my gyno at 6 & half weeks and it was positive!!

Secondly this time TTC we are having to do IVF and I have spent a great deal of time on the IVF threads. Apparently going by alot of the other very experienced ladies over there: with the exception of the evaporation line if you leave the stick too long, A HPT CAN give a false negative (as was in my case) BUT it CANNOT give a false positive. The only exception apparently is with a chemical or ectopic pregnancy etc. But apparently a positive is a positive with the only difference being if there is something wrong with the embryo or where it is etc.
