One of my 4 month old twin boys suffers from Colic and Reflux (If that makes sense). When we think he has burped enough an hour later he will be screaming and start refluxing.

I have got him on Zantac at the moment and you can only give that to him 3 times a day.

I used to give him Brauers Colic Relief which was great but you can only give that every 4 hours and they are getting fed around the 3.5 hour mark.

Does anyone know of anything that they can take at every feed?

Hi My Little Twins

I have used Mylanta, but again, I was told to only give it every four hours, so that's no help to you. Since my son started on losec, I have only needed to use Mylanta occasionally.

If your son is on Zantac but is still screaming and needing something to soothe him after every feed, I suggest you go back to your paediatrician, since it doesn't sound like the Zantac is working.

I really hope things improve.

Hi

my DS2 had reflux (just stopped medication 1 week ago:smiliedance: ) and he was on Zantac for a month and that only helped a little so then the paed. put him on both Zantac and Losec for another month and that was great. After that he started getting better so it was just Losec because it was more convenient to give him a once a day dose.

Zantac is given three times a day because it lasts for 8 hours. Even though they tell you to give it to him before a feed, you can actually give it to him at any time whether he's eaten or not. It's not affected by food so can be given on an empty or full stomach. The reason why it is reccomended 15-30 mins before a feed is because it takes about 20min to start working.

Losec is more convenient I found because it lasts for 24hours so one dose a day at approx the same time is all that's required.

If you need to you can also give him 1-2ml of mylanta but only rarely when you think it's really bad because mylanta has alluminium in it and there have been connections reported between alluminium and Alzheimer's later in life.

Hope this helps:)
