OK 3 times in the last 24 hours DD has been on my lap, either having a bottle or being put to sleep, and all of a sudden she has wee'd all over me (or the bed, or the floor)....! When I check her nappy it is still on tight, not full and not wet on the outside (and it isn't like a leak situation anyway, it's like all of a sudden it's spurting out)...

Does anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong?? Where is it coming from?? (And it's definitely not me wetting my own pants  ) It has happened with 3 completely different nappies...

Any ideas?? I'm bamboozled

What type of nappies - ie fabrics are they made from, are they all fleece/suedecloth lined. And bubs as they get older tend to save it up and then let loose. So you'll want a quick absorbing layer next to them and then a holding layer next to that.

First time was a Greenkids anytimes with 2 bamboo inserts (our usual night time nappy)

Second time was a bubblebubs AIO

Third was a pocket with hemp insert

Just weird cos they're never wet on the outside, so it doesn't seem like they've actually leaked IYKWIM :detective:

With the pockets - try a microfibre or a cotton facewasher as the layer closest to bub - so that the only thing between baby's skin and the microfibre/face washer is the inner of the nappy. Those materials soak up wee really quickly so it can then pass through to the bamboo or hemp behind it.

I'm going to go with Fullhouse on this one. I think you need something that absorbs faster, cause I think you have a high pressure wetter there :) So a face washer, some towelling, even some flannel, something that absorbs faster and then lets it go through to the more absorbent but slower take up fabric - ie hemp and bamboo. You could use microfibre, but I'm personally not a fan.

Sounds like you might have a detergent build up. test a nappy, pour some water on the lining, if the water beads instead of being absorbed then you need to to a strip wash.

Oops didn't think of that Emma :( I've not had that happen.

But perhaps the formulation of your powder has changed shelle65 - we had to change our powder as they started adding fabric softener into it :(

Thanks so much for the ideas ladies, will do a strip wash and if it keeps happening, I will get something to absorb faster.
