View Full Version : Acupuncture
I have heard that Clomid can cause the uterine lining to thin in 30% of women (therefore causing m/c).
Has anyone used acupuncture to help conceive?
I am considering the option seeing that in Sep and Nov I had BFP at 4 weeks while on Clomid, follwed by AF two days later.
Any suggestions?
P.S: The gyno is going to give me an ultra sound cd15 to check my follie size, can he measure my lining then?

Hi there
I'm currently undergoing acupuncture treatment in conjunction with IVF. Previous to this cycle, I've had 2 unsuccessful AIH attempts and 2 unsuccessful IVF attempts. I started acupuncture treatment about 3 weeks before I started this latest IVF cycle. I'm currently on the TTW, with my pregnancy blood test due on 12/12. When I had an ultrasound to check how my follicles were growing, the specialist said my lining looked great; that it was quite thick. The acupuncturist I'm seeing has studied fertility issues and gynaecology, so she is pretty knowledgable in this area. The way I look at it is that it can't harm and will hopefully prove the difference between the 4 previous BFN's we had and the BFP we are dreaming of! I recommend you try it. It is very relaxing and just think, it could be the one thing that helps you get a BFP result!
Best of Luck! :)
Hi Singa,
I'm also currently seeing an acupuncturist for fertility stuff (was not ovulating on my own and hadn't this whole year). I wanted to give it a try before Clomid to see if she could help. I have been seeing the acupuncturist now for about 2 months. This month I did a tracking cycle and believe it or not I ovulated. My follie size was great as was my lining and all my hormones were as they were meant to be. There is a fair bit of research showing that acupuncture is helpful when TTC. As waitingpatiently said it really is relaxing. I think it is worth a go. Good luck Singa :fingerscrossed::babydust2:

Hi Singa
I started acupunture combined with chinese herbs about 6 weeks ago.
The acupuncture helps with getting nice fresh blood flow to the pelvic organs and unblocking any energy channels. It is also very relaxing.
The chinese herbs i am on help produce healthy eggs, a nourishing uterus lining and prevent miscarriage.
I used to have aweful terrible painful heavy periods, and feel sick and sore up from ovulation to AF everycycle. I would nearly always overdose on pain killers, vomit, have days off work.
Since these treatments, i barely even need one voltaren tablet, my EWCM has noticably improved, only one day of period pain and my moods are much more stable.
Today i am about 7 days away from AF and i just feel the tiniest PMS. Normally i feel like it is due at any second :fingerscrossed: i'm pregnant.
But my mum had been telling me for over a year to try acupuncture because it helps my stepdad with backache when everything else failed, and my 11 year old brother who would swing from hyperactivity to social phobia, the acupunture and fish oil have helped him dramatically.
I have a needle phobia, and my acupuncturist uses Japanese acupuncture which barely penetrates the skin (painless). It takes a bit longer than chinese acupuncture but is as effective.
I have never had acupunture to help with fertility or to prevent miscarriage, but I can say I am a firm believer.
When pregnant with my DS2 had a scan at 32 weeks to make sure he was growing correctly, he was in breach position and OB said I would have to have c-section. I kicked and screamed and fussed as I didn't want one. Ob suggested trying acupunsture to see if he would turn.
I am needle phobic so was a bit scared, I am quite small, so the odds of him turning were quite low, however on my third treatment he turned, I watched as he rolled over, his spine clearly obvious on my belly. The miracle I was looking for.
Good luck
Thanks so much for your replies. I have just emailed two acupuncturist already with my enquiry. I am thinking that after one M/C at 4.5 weeks (before clomid) and 2 'almost' pregnancies on clomid that this is just what I need to help the blood flow etc.
Thanks again!
