View Full Version : bleeding at 16 weeks
I have been spotting every day since 14 weeks and i am know 16 weeks . is it ever going to stop . I have been to ER twice and they have checked me out and told me that we were both fine and we would just have to wait for the bleeding to stop. I am so scared . Does anyone have any other stories the same . I know it is common in 1st trimester but vi have not heard of it in the 2nd trimester

Hi there. Sorry to hear about your spotting. I know how worrying it can be. I am 24 weeks pregnant and I had spotting at 8 weeks and then heavier spotting at 15 weeks. My GP thought I was having a miscarrage at this point and sent me straight off for a scan. The scan showed that everything was fine with the baby so I was very relieved. I had more spotting at 18 weeks and my ob who I was under by this stage told me that I had a low lying placenta which was causing the bleeding. I was told to take things easy (stop working housework etc) I have been having intermittant light bleeding since and two weeks ago had a big bleed and had to be admitted to hospital for 5 days. The baby is still doing well and we are just hoping that the bleeding does not get too much worse and the baby can stay in there for a couple more months yet.
So I know how you must be worried especially if they cannot find a reason for your bleeding. Have they given you any extra ultrasounds? I have read that sometimes 2nd trimester bleeding can just be a vein near the edge of the placenta that is a bit unstable.
I wish you luck with your pregnancy and hope that things settle down for you.

I know exactly how you feel...
I am 21 weeks and i had a bleed right on exactly 16 weeks..bright red and quiet a bit, maybe 2-3 table spoons worth.
I was in hospital too and bubba is all fine and I had heaps of tests done...my was an unexplained bleed that came from no where that could be detected.
I have a low lying placenta which is also anterior which also might have been part of my problem...
Try not to worry too much..I know easier said than done..i was so freaked out !!!!!
I am sure every thing will be ok and and as long as bubba heart is pumping away you cant really ask for much more than that :hugs:
