Wooohooo kim!!

another one in our group!

well i LOVE December 1!!

we've been up for hours and the whole outside is now decorated!

The kids were bouncing all over the place as santa's fairy came in the night and they now have Christmas tatoos on them. That cheeky little fairy even got one in the middle of dd's head :wizard: That cheeky little fairy was going to plant one in the middle of DPs head too but he had to work today!

Eli got his first Dec 1 tatoo, a cute reindeer on his foot!

He played around with all the decorations and slid out of the coffee table with a big gold tinsle star stuck on one eye, so funny.

We are off to see santas grand arrival today at another shopping centre.

Sounds like a lot of christmas cheer at your place Kay !!

I had planned on starting the chrissy deco's lastnight... but instead we got caught up trying to find a certain fluffy feline.

As for names... we are thinking of naming her Zali (I really like that name for a girl, but don't know if I could actually inflict it on a human baby).

So much to do today... gotta get cracking :)

happy to 10 month birthday to lily.

She got a tooth (top R) for a present - no 5!! Hope no 6 comes today too so she will settle down a bit.

She is off solids and drinking so much milk yesterday. prob due to teeth or is there a 10 month growth spurt?

Heeelllooooo

I finally finished my jewellery order! YAY!

Were putting our tree up tomorrow night - I can't wait! I LOVE Christmas :tree: I watched a Christmas movie last night and I was all teary...how sad!

Jack's still not sleeping more than 1 hour during the day. I stayed home everyday last week and the most I got was one morning where he slept for just over an hour. Not sure what else to do

Had a BBQ with some friends today which was great fun. Tomorrow were heading to Federation Square for a Designers Market.

Happy 10 months to Kaelan and Lily

Hello all

Wow i can't believe its December already not long till christmas now.

We turned our lights on for the first time last nite was very exciting. Getting the christmas tree off layby on Saturday so will be able to put it up.

Lauren I know wat its like with the sleeping. Lochlain won't sleep much through the day anymore. Its so annoying you just start to do something and he wakes up.

I'm wandering whether we're going to get some more teeth soon as Lochlain is still dribbling like crazy and is always chewing away on his fingers.

Well better get going want to wrap some more presents while my mum is watching Lochlain.

Hi all. Gosh it's been quiet around here. I've been pretty busy the last few days. Hope everyone has started their Christmas shopping? Well Secret Santa at least :xmas:

Lauren - I'm in the same boat. Liam will only have a max of one hour sleeps during the day at any one time and usually it's not that long. I'm struggling to get a 2nd sleep out of him during the day which is crazy.

Liam has cut his second tooth.........he's saying mum properly now, not just mumumum.

Mandi - I can't wait for DH to put up the lights outside. It will be our first year with lights.

Penny - I hope you're feeling better and kitty is safe and sound! Your Christmas pud sounds yummo. I'm making my Christmas cake again this year also with loads of brandy.

Must go...want to get an early night's sleep if I can.......so, so tired.

Its really hot here thank god for air con.

Marissa has all 4 top teeth through now they all came through at oncew over the last month.
She has a bit of an anger problem:laughing: When ever i stop her from doing something or try and hold her down for a bum change, she pinches, slaps and bites.

Kay hows Eli is he still sick?

Penny Zali is a lovely name. And by the way congrats on the BFP glad it didn't take to long.

Lauren Marissa wasnt sleeping during the day when she was getting more teeth, could it be that? is he getting sick. I hope things get better soon.

Any way I'm off i will be back on when i can still don't have the internet at home.

I still haven't had a chance to put up my christmas tree or decorations yet !! I feel so slack... normally it's all done by December 1st... but of course, I've worked this whole weekend (I'm at work now) so haven't had a chance.

I'm hoping to get it all done tomorrow... if Master K will allow.

Maybe once we've all finished with our xmas decorating.. we can post some photos here to show it off.... just think of it as a much needed 'bonding' activity for the Feb mums :)

Anyways... hope you all had a nice weekend... everyone was obviously busy because there are practically tumble-weeds rolling through the thread :p

Penny - Glad you found the kitten, she must have been hiding or fell asleep somewhere and was oblivious to the attention she had caused!

We also need to put up our outdoor christmas lights and decs soon, hopefully we can do them this week during the evenings as daylight savings is here. I just love the light evenings.

We had a little shopping spree at Spotlight yesterday. Well, if you can call spending approx $1500 little
We decided to replace the tired old timber blinds at the back of the house in the family room, rumpus and meals areas. Decided to get roman blinds and they look great so far. Now I want to get padded pelmets for the tops so I'll organise some quotes this week.

I've been very busy lately so not much time for posting. Christmas orders are keeping me very busy and DH and I have been out looking at houses. We've decided to wait a bit longer before selling and in the meantime do a few home improvements, (hence the new blinds).

Reece is doing well, not quite fully crawling but moving around heaps. We have 2 very cute teeth on the bottom row and he really loves his vegemite sandwiches!

Well, I'd better go and organise some brekky as his majesty is awake.

Leashie - Welcome back  How's everyone settled in?

Mon - What did you decide with the job?

Our tree is done...:noel: I will post a pic soon. I don't really do any other decorating but I'm guessing that will change over the next few years.

Is everyone putting the presents under the tree? I think Jack would rip the paper..not sure if I should

Jack has a new word...he says 'wow' but sometimes it sounds like 'whoa'. It's cute anyway.

He's still waking once in the night usually around 3ish...and still not much sleep during the day. I was thinking teeth but this has been going on for 3 weeks now. He won't let me check his mouth but he has been biting alot on his fingers..who knows really???

Hope everyone has a lovely day :xmas: :snow: :xmastree: (how cute frosty blinks)

Just a quick one...

Have decided not to take the job. Four days is too much for me at the moment, physically and emotionally.

We don't really do a lot of Christmas decorating... we have a psycho cat.

Liam still doesn't have any teeth. Can't be long now, huh?

Oh, gross. Pukage. Later.

Well it seems to have been ages since i have had a chance to catch up on what has been going on.

So get well hugs to all the sick bubs and mums and to those who are learning and dealing with some of the frustrating aspects of 9/10mth old darlings, hang in there. It will pass.....and there will be something else to replace it.:p

Elly still has a pretty fierce cough and the bottom teeth are yet to show themselves. She turned the corner with her grumpiness but sometimes still hates to see me walk out the room.

The communication between us is growing by the day. She can clap and at the end throw her hands in the air for "hooray". We are waving at anyone that comes and goes. Actually at any time really. She tells me when she has hada enough to eat and of course the favourite is to drop something and say, "oh oh". Gotta love it.

Thankfully she still lays still to have her bum changed. No crawling, (i think we will win the flag for slowest bub)no teeth, not wrapped, bit hit and miss with her bottles but LOVES her food. She laughs and squeals and the other day she observantly looked at both my ears looking for earings. Really funny seeing the expression on her face when she realised there were none there:confused:

Mum and Dad came up and had the girls from Friday to Sunday lunch time. J and I went away for his work Xmas weekendValentine. The girls were fantstic but very excited to see us. You could see the excitement in Elly's eyes when we got back. Mia just hugged and kissed me for the first two hours.

Well places to be, won't hog the thread all at once, wlll catch up later in the day.

Toodaloo....

Mon - sounds like you've made the right choice. This way you will have more time with Liam to watch him develop and won't be so tired on your days off. A few friends who work 3 or more days per week say it's very tiring and you end up spending your days off catching up on all the housework etc but are tired.

Lauren - we haven't put up our tree yet, but I can't have a christmas tree without pressies under it so not sure what to do either. Liam loves paper. We will probably put the play pen around the tree or something. If you think of any bright ideas let me know

Hels - we spent up big at Spotlight too on Saturday. Bought a Roman blind for the front door and bathroom and a rug for Liam's room and the loungeroom. Sounds like you're keeping busy and Reece is doing really well!

Leashie - I think bubs are at the age now where they are starting to assert themselves. Liam pinches me too sometimes. Really hurts. I just say a firm 'NO' but Liam just giggles :nono:

Well, Liam is awake now after a half hour sleep. I've resigned myself to the fact that I won't get much time for myself from now on the way Liam sleeps during the day. I guess it could be worse

Not sure what to do today. Have housework to do, some phone calls to make and want to go to Southland this avo if I can. Got to return a top I bought for my niece that's a size too small.

hi everyone :shakehands:

my baby has turned into a standing, kneeling grown up 10 month old! but hes still sliding not crawling on all fours!

he pulled the Christmas tree down with a huge bang, lucky it didnt land ON him. It is now on the simpsons soccer table on some ply.

today he stood in the cot for the first time. i put him in sitting to play for a minute while i made ds' bed and he was standing when i turned back. lucky he is still wrapped and so just went to sleep....im sure its not going to be long before he stands when left in there to go to sleep.

he kneels beside his big toys to play. he pushes his big FP bus along and tries to climb into it!

this advance in one weekend!

we got a free santa pic of Eli on the weekend. The older kids said hi and ds asked santa for TWO motarcontola cars- one for boy on the puter and one for him so he didnt have to buy a pig for that boy! then just incase he forgets the car hed like an "elly opter" that flies up.

that was my chuckle for the weekend.

still working on this blasted bag. the photo is printed now so id best get it and get on with it.

Oh bloody hell....

I was just about to go down the street to buy more fairy lights for our tree (just tested the ones we have and half of the bulbs are blown.. cheaper just to buy a new set)... and now a big huge thunderstorm is rolling in... I hate storms, I'm a big wuss when it comes to them. Rain, rain... go away !!!

Hmmm... our kitty cat seems to be a bit feral. Every opportunity she gets, she's trying to bite my feet... and suprisingly, it actually hurts. I've now resorted to the water spray bottle.

Ok, biggest bang of thunder/lightning ever !! Adrenaline is pumping, heart is racing, nausea is increasing... That's one way to get Kaelan to wake up from his afternoon sleep I guess.

That boy on the puter who is getting a pig, not a motarcontola car, must be slowing doing DS's head in. I've so enjoyed reading about the ever increasing status he is having in your family.

Mon: Glad to hear you have been able to make a decision on your Job. As long as you are happy and what works for YOUR famiy has to be the right option.

Leashie: what a month you have. I'm sure you will get through it and come out the other side wondering where the hell December went. Enjoy it mate.

Hi all

Well its been a cr@p afternoon here today. My sisters boyfriend was hit by a car. So had to race her over to his place. He was taken to hospital by ambulance. Don't know how he is when i rang my sister they were just assessing him so will ring her later to find out whats happening.

Was trying to wrap presents today but as Lochlain hasn't slept much today i haven't really been able to do alot.

Lochlain has discovered he can open cupboard doors and pull everything out. Will have to get some locks to keep him out.
He pulls himself up on everything and walks along the furniture. He can even stand by himself but only for about 2 seconds before he falls

Better get going Lochlain has taken off have to go make sure he's not getting into everything

g'day all, l got terribly excited and put my Christmas tree up on Friday night.... l just couldn't wait until Saturday... Coen has gone to have a good look, touched it a few times and that's about it... he doesn't seem overly impressed... l thought it would be a huge drama...

We went and got a photo with Santa today... Coen & Olivia together. (http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s49/harleyq_album/SantaPic2007.jpg)..

She is off solids and drinking so much milk yesterday. prob due to teeth or is there a 10 month growth spurt? Coen has been the same since last week - but he was sick so l was hoping it was just a phase...

I hope your sister's boyfriend is okay...

Cute photo Sandy. Olivia looks so grown up. I think were going on the weekend to get Jack's pic done.

I just tried to write Jack's name on a Christmas bauble using glitter - What a disaster!!! I've got glitter all over the lounge room and all thru my hair.....I think I'll go to Myer and get one made instead

Jack stood up in the bath on his own for about 15 seconds tonight  Then he plopped down and made the biggest splash. He's getting quiet confident.

Look what I just noticed -----> oh how I've missed you Mr Laughing Smiley! and this guys cool :raspberry:

We do the tree and lights outside but no presents under the tree here for about the last 7 years -sine DS1 was old to enough to trash the pressies everyday. I love wrapping gifts but only once- not two or three times day-it gets real boring real quick.

Mum and Dad came up and had the girls from Friday to Sunday lunch time. J and I went away for his work Xmas weekend. The girls were fantstic but very excited to see us. You could see the excitement in Elly's eyes when we got back. Mia just hugged and kissed me for the first two hours.

God that sounds like bliss! Dh and i have been talking about a weekend away together- kid free- for a while now and the first sign we think we might be able to get away is March next year. So a bl00dy long wait lol.

and now a big huge thunderstorm is rolling in....
We had a massive storm here this afternoon too- i just managed to get the kids in the car from the school pick up before the torrential rain hit and thunder/lightening and hail.
The kids quite like watching the storms though- so was good entertainment for them this afternoon.

Liam has reverted back to commando crawl after crawling properly for a week or so. Turns out his knees are all bruised from crawling on our floorboards. :(

I'm not feeling very Christmassy this year, for some reason. I think I'm used to the festive cheer hitting me at work, with an end of year feeling. Maybe.

:raspberry: everyone - been too lazy to post really! Just got 10 mins to kill whilst I wait for Miss E to wake up...

Mandi - hope your sister's boyfriend is OK - let us know.

Mon - I never feel Christmassy here because it's the 'wrong' time of year for me. Christmas should be cold and dark!! I know what you mean about relying on work stuff to get you in the festive mood - I think I do that too.

Tan - looks like Cody was after the Nutrigrain in your cupboard! Very cute.

Kim - I didn't know your birthday was Xmas day - are you doing anything to celebrate?

Eloise is much the same - bored of all toys and only interested in stuff from the cupboards, her board books or plastic bottles and tubes from the bathroom! She's so 'busy', it makes me laugh...as if she's doing little jobs round the house.

When Eloise sleeps all night (like last night) I have trouble sleeping. It's soooo annoying. Anyone else find the same? I suspect I might need to cut down on my chocolate intake :( Maybe the sugar and caffeine aren't helping.

Hi all

Well my sisters boyfriend is ok. Out of hospital now.
Mind you he's not my family's favourite person. We don't hate him but don't love him. He never has a place for them to live they are always bludging off friends. I don't know what my sister sees in him she could do so much better. She's only 17 and is tied down to this guy.

Cute pics everyone.

Lochlain also stands in the bath as soon as you tell him no he sits down splashes then starts to stand again.

A friend of mine had a baby on Saturday morning. A little girl, well not so little 9 pound 11. Went up to visit her last nite. Lochlain was fascinated with her.
Its so makes me want another baby but not quite ready for a second one yet.
I have another friend having a baby in February next year. Can't wait.
Also had a friend just lose a baby on Saturday. She was only 22 weeks when her waters broke. Was admitted to hospital and they tried to stop her labour but no luck. Its so sad. Brings back memories as i lost a baby 3 years ago.

Well it's pretty quiet but i'm sure i will find something to say.

We bought the grandies a webcam for Xmas and set J's parents up when we were there the other week. Will give my Ma & Pa theirs Xmas day.
So we had Mia talking to Nana and PA on skype tonight and she loved it.
J and I laughed at the fact that it may in some way be the worst thing we ever did...ha ha..

Elly olny had an hour sleep this morning and about the same this arvo. Very strange for her. Hopefully it will mean she sleeps past 5.45am. These early mornings from the girs are killing us.

We thought she may have been hungry but we weighed up the fact that we have been away, she was sick, she cut her first two teeth and so life has been all over the place. She really has be so adpatable we can't complain.

One question, for those bubs that are having a bottle, are they holding it. Mia did from 6months but Elly really couldn't give a sh*t.

Well hope everyone is well, might see someone around tonight.

Great photos M...

Sorry, I don't use Photobucket, so I can't help you.

Sandy - are you still collecting stats?? Kaelans 10 month old growth stats are...

Height - 72cms
Weight - 9.5kgs

I weighed him using our own scales so I'm unsure how accurate they are. This means he's only put on 300 grams in 2 months... that doesn't seem like much.

Speaking of 10 month stats, here are Cassidy's (a week or so early but it makes little difference i guess)

Weight: 9.8 kgs
Height: 71.5 cms
Head circ: 46cms

So she has put on 600gs in a month.

Omg 10 months tomorrow how exciting, can you believe only 2 months till birthdays are coming, for some even less then that!! its so crazy to think this time last year i was getting ready to move house and have a baby, now im getting ready to have a 1st birthday party for my baby

xxx :bee: Kim

Happy 10 months. It really does go fast. Enjoy the next couple of months.

I'm glad that your sisters boyfriend is okay. Car accidents are no fun.

I'm sorry about your loss and your friends loss.
Congratulations to your friend with the 9 pound baby girl. I would have loved to have had bigger babies.

I wish Matthew and Ben would hold their own bottles, would make life much easier.

hows this KAY (http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x60/outbackmumma/DREW1.jpg)

LOL

US, Well we've had a busy 10 days or so. I think this is they busiest we've been since bringing Matthew and Ben home from the hospital.

We had a followup hearing test today. I went shopping for some tops and a pair of pants that don't fit. So now I need to find more time to return them. Nevermind it was fun anyway.

We're off to Brisbane on Friday afternoon for DH's christmas party and back on Monday. Then Jake's last day at kinder for 2007 is on Tuesday 11th.

We have a couple of other things on when we get back and then Ben and Matthew's first birthday on the 23rd.

Have any of you got any ideas about what to do re food? Also I'm looking for a recipe for a yummy cake. Do any of you have any that you'd like to share?

Sandy, how's Coen? You asked what I was doing for Matthew and Ben's first birthday. At the time I didn't know. I'm doing a brunch for immediate family and close friends.

Ben and Matthew have their 12 month MCHN visit on Tuesday 11th and so I will post those stats for you. I wonder how much they have grown.

Morning! Happy 10 Months to all the Fab Feb Fivers out there. :)

Liam is only just waking up now, so I'm having a slow start to the day. There were so many things I could have been doing, but they all make too much noise. Vacuum, sewing machine, washing machine, etc. So I compromised by loading up the washing machine all ready to go, and spent the rest of the time on the computer.

Kay - How is Eli doing now? Sounds like he lost a fair bit of weight while he was sick.

Sharon - Have you travelled with your boys before? Seems like a long way to go just for a Christmas party!

Penny - What kind of scales did you use to weigh K? Your bathroom scales? I'd be interested to see what Liam weighs now. We don't go back to the health nurse until late January.

Marianne - Great pics!

Liam is awake and chatting to himself in his cot. I can smell him from here, so I should go and do something about that. And put the washing machine on. And vacuum. And finish sewing my Christmas presents. Oh boy.

Bye!

Anyone won't a 9 month old who wakes at 4am, plays, then screams, then plays then gets into bed with us (didn't won't to wake Mia), then plays, then sleeps for 20 minutes then decides 5.35 is a great time to get up.:hissy:

She did it yesterday and we thought she may be hungry so last for tea she had vegies, big bowl of mince hotpot and a big bowl of yoghurt and fruit. She finished with a bottle.

She is still on Heniz Nurture 1 coz 2 constipates her. Could the milk not be filling her up?

Well busy day and J is away again until Friday night:crying:

HI girls .

I have been MIA lately (did anyone notice?)

I am a bit down and didnt want to bring the list down with me.

Blubber - lily has started waking at 530am too. i have various theories but my main one is that she is hungry. she has a huge dinner and then wont take much milk. it also worries me that my breast milk may not be sustaining her now. what do you all think?

anyway off to the shops just to get out of the house.
it is going to be a hot one here today.

ps. the new smilies are cute but they are really slowing down my browser - anyone else getting this?

They Are all 10 months today!

There was also Charlotte I think... she is the daughter of Tara21.. who has since changed her user name and is more than half way through her pregnancy with baby number 2. I'm pretty sure Charlotte was also born Feb 5.

Penny - What kind of scales did you use to weigh K? Your bathroom scales? I'd be interested to see what Liam weighs now. We don't go back to the health nurse until late January.

Just the bathroom scales. Weighed myself (and tried not to faint when I saw how heavy I am)... and then weighed myself holding Kaelan... and deducted the difference.

Me - Quick post as K has just woken from a nap. I went to the doctor this morning and had the pregnancy officially confirmed. I've got a referral for an ultrasound in a couple of weeks, plus I've also got a referral for my NT scan at 13 weeks... but first things first.. don't want to get too far ahead of myself. I'm not going to book the NT until I see a live baby at the first scan... yes, I'm pessimistic... but I think you need to be in these early stages (particularly after everything I went through to have Kaelan). Anyways, my doctor made me take another pregnancy test and it came up a very strong positive... so that's good.

Righto.. better go make Kaelan something for lunch, then I need to go pick up some photos from Harvey Norman.

Happy ten months to the Feb 5th babies

Ziggy Sharon - sorry to hear you're down - you should come and vent.

Sharon - banana cake! Seriously, it's great - only 5 ingredients and not too unhealthy. Even I can make it so it must be easy. I'll pm you the recipe in case you're interested.

Marianne - Eloise is an early waker - about 6.00, but that probably sounds like bliss compared to 4 or 5.30. I use the Heinz (1 small bottle at night) stage 2 with no problems as long as Eloise has plenty of fruit and veg she doesn't get constipated.

We've just got back from swimming and I feel really buggered. Eloise is banging the hand clappy toy right in Boris cat's face and laughing. Very funny

Anyone else trying to teach the word 'gentle'? Any tips? I'm sure Eloise is going to leave bruises or scratch marks on my face - she slaps so hard without any warning. One minute looking nicely and touching - next minute 'bash'!

Happy Birthday to all the Feb Fiver Bubs, there really is a group.

BUT...Does this mean Leashie & Marissa share a Birthday. Did i know this? Perhaps i was not around.

Sharon: Get on here and spill your guts, particulaly if your not feeling so good.
I think Lily and Elly seem to do many things similar.

After deciding Elly may be hungry and feeding her up last night i have continued the plan today...OH MY GOD...this child would eat all day.
LUNCH was cup of yoghurt, cup of fruit, 1/2 vegimite sanga, two cheese sticks, (Mid didn't like hers) the meat off a baked chicken wing and two pieces of pear. I thought i should stop there.
BREAKFAST was a bottle, toast yoghurt and fruit.

HANNAH: even with baked beans, fruit & veg this child STILL got constipated. Does the number 2 actually have more "filling" qualities?
We stopped the farex and weetbix only every few days.

Sharon - Vent away here. Everyone else does! Better out than in... a philosophy that applies to many aspects of life.

Liam's snotty nose as turned into a full on stuffled up nose. I'm sure he can't even taste his food... he kept opening his mouth for more food, even though he already had a mouthful. Very unusual.

We're trying to teach 'gentle' here as well, mainly for patting dogs and cats. I try to say 'gentle' slowly, and hold his hand to pat the fur. Then I let go and usually he stays calm. Not working too well for the face slapping though. We'll get to that one.

I'm having so much trouble trying to cook dinner each night at the moment. Liam tries to climb up my legs, and yesterday managed to pull down my skirt. Good look. If I put him in the play pen he cries and then falls over a lot because he is getting tired. But if I put him in bed he screams because he's not tired enough to sleep. If I was organised enough I'd try and get dinner prepared during his afternoon nap... but have only managed that a few times.

Penny - Stop worrying and make the appointment! It would be very inconvenient if you couldn't get an appointment as you left it too late. I think you're a lot like me and overthink everything.

Hels*Bels
05-12-2007, 02:11 PM
We started with "gentle" a while ago, along with "ouchies" and "no" lol.
Reece is pretty good when patting Ben (the cat). Our other cat (Bill) won't go anywhere near him. Hopefully things won't get nasty in the future if Reece tries to persue him :fingerscrossed:

Penny - Great news about getting the pregnancy confirmed by the doctor. Don't worry about feeling anxious, I would be the same about wanting to see a heartbeat on the U/S first. It's natural to feel that way, especially with the second bub. I think just about all of us would be on tender hooks until getting to that magical 3 mth stage. I really hope you have an easier pregnancy this time and also let's hope that the M/S doesn't hit you too bad either. That's one thing I worry about too as I don't think I could cope with that on top of looking after Reece

Leashie - happybirthday and to all the 10 mths olds.

Sharon - I hope you are feeling better soon.

Better go, I am super busy as a :bee: today.

We've travelled with them to Brisbane in July, Sydney about a month/5 weeks ago and now to Brisbane.

Have a good everyone.

I'll take Elly if you promise to take Ben and Matthew. Number 2 is heavier on the protein therefore potentially could fill them up more. I was having this issue to. Somone suggested to me to give low GI foods, therefore taking longer to expel the energy.

Yay Penny. That's great. I'm sure it will be fine. Something I learnt throughout my pregnancy and time in NICU and SCN with B and M is to take each set of tests/ultrasounds as it comes. Try not to preempt what might be. It took us a long time to have B and M and Jake is truly a miracle as our chances of conceiving naturally are really low, so I understand how you feel. Good luck and here's to a successful long pregnancy.

Poor lady. I felt really sorry for a ned flander's cow in the simpsons last night who really needed to be milked and when homer did he said "ahh that feels so good". i really empathized with him/her/it.

Thanks for all the queries about me. I cant put my finger on it exactly... a bit of cabin fever; a baby who takes an hour to settle and wakes up early. The usual. Also my dh has gone back to work so i am probably missing him and all the help i was getting. also i am a little annoyed at him for making money - like what he does is worth something to society is worth something but what i do isnt....

Lily is quite fun to be around a lot of the time - connor inspired me and now each change time i get her to point to the baby (on an empty packet of wipes).

She still isnt crawling - i am sure she is OK but i still worry anyway. maybe she is working on her fine motor skills instead. SHe pulls up onto her knees.

Lily loves to flick through board books and knock down towers of blocks. She can put some of her stacky cups together. Not sure if she is left or right handed yet. She loves cuddles at the moment too which is nice for me.

i picked up the santa photo.

HERE (http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l132/my_lot/lastscan.jpg) it is.

im so happy with my smiler! this is the only happy santa photo of any of the kids aged under 2!

oh and check out the grip he has on santas finger! how funny.

The older kids pic turned out really nice. these were free photos too. we had the family one done the week before and just went for this one so Eli could have one of his first Christmas in his baby book like the others do.

we got two more motacontala cars today (for the others not the kid on the puter) we got a pink and purple 57 chevy and a mazda rx something- its a sports car with a hood that lifts and wheels to change. so we will have three cars whizzin' round our place Christmas morning!

Every year we spend a mint on batteries this year i see will be no different. only one of those cars came with its own recharge batteries and i think thats the only thing we have so far that has its own batteries. my list for each size to get just got longer!

 everyone..

how are we all? so how does it feel to have 10 month old bubbies now... its crazy hey!!!

we went and got our Santa photo yesterday, Riley didn't cry but he needed to be coned into sitting on Santa's knee.. lol as so as i went to sit him down he grabbed on to me so tight, he just didn't want to let go, but then Santa gave him his bell and straight in the mouth when i finally got it back we got a pic but he wouldn't smile he was being all shy, so i think we will get a new one!!

so anyways, my hubbies dad has offered to buy hubbies ute, its a 50th anniversary holden commodore so its worth a bit just in name alone, but they only want to give us $4000 for it because apparently we owe them money, that they put into getting the car fixed up (hubby re built the whole care inside and out) but come one who does that to there child? who keeps tab of how much they owe? i mean come on his mum has told us our tab is up to $8000 i dont see it to be honest!! and i dont like that they are keeping tabs, i mean bloody hell if Riley owed me back money for everything i ever ever paid for for him and me paying rent and bills for him he would be broke and his 10 months old!!! its just not right to do it, my parents didn't raise me that way, my dad gave us his car for Christ sake, and lends us money all the time and has done the shopping for us ( and i don't mean a little shop i mean a months worth) when we have been down so low we couldn't even afford welfare burgers (haha) and he has not once said to us ow dont forget you owe me this much, or oh can i have some money back that you borrowed.. not once if anything when we do give him money he takes half of it and gives the rest back, or gives the whole lot back! i just dont get why all parents cant be so kind? especially ones with sh*t loads of money, i mean come one they own like 6 houses, and the just paid $3000 to have a frigging shade sale put up out the back :banghead: who does that?? and they always complain that they dont have any money, fark off ahh they drive me insane..
on top of that f we dont sell them the ute they want Levins brother to drive it till he gets his own car on the road. no for those of you who dont remember me ranting and raving about Levin's brother before here is a run down,
he is 22 he still lives at home, has had a car in the shop and been saying it will be out by Christmas for the last 2 year running and now this year again, he is spoilt, his mum washes his clothes cooks his dinner, cleans up after him, and when he wants something he gets it, he writes what he wants when she go's shopping and she gets it with her money, he doesn't pay ppl back i can guarantee he is doing drugs, he has a criminal record, and i\he is an all round jerk, that drives cars into the ground and expects everyone around him to bow down and do as he says to get it fixed or get him a new car.
well i have news for him, its not going to happen, i put sh*t loads of money into that car too and i will not have him run it into the ground im sorry but no!!! im just so angry that they even asked... i mean its just like when i was pregnant and they told us we should let Adam (brother in law) and his best friend move in with us, we live in a 3 bedroom town house with no backyard and barely enough room for us, how the heck would we fit two 22 year old guys in here with us and a baby??? and they were all for it, and wondered why i cried so much when the y told us it was going to be happening cause it was there house and they cant afford to buy Adam his own place, ahh hello, we pay rent, does he pay rent? no does he pay bills? no does he pay his own bills? no does he pay for anything? no no no!! ahhh im so angry!!:banghead:

sorry girls for my vent i will stop now...

happybirthday to all those who are now 10 months... and to Leashie (who is considerably older.... btw blubber, Leashie is 5th of dec, marissa is 5th of Feb)

how's Coen? You asked what I was doing for Matthew and Ben's first birthday. At the time I didn't know. I'm doing a brunch for immediate family and close friends.
Thanks for asking Sharon, Coen is almost 100%, l am still being a bit careful about exposing him to anybody who is sick, but he is not coughing anymore, and seems to be back to his old self (except for a brief clingy stage this morning... not sure about that)

Ziggy - Sharon, if your feeling down please don't feel like you have to stay away - that goes for everyone... sometimes just getting it out there can be helpful.

Mon - l hear you on the climbing up the back of the legs whilst preparing dinner, l have the same issue... l have begun to be a bit more organised and have been preparing the food whilst he has his arvo nap... it makes for less stress...

Kim - Inlaws... sometimes its hard fitting in with your partners family, they do things so differently to your own... like playing favourites... l have my own problems in this area... my mantra at the moment is to try not to concern myself with things that are out of my control... l keep saying it over and over in my head... it doesn't stop the frustration, but sometimes it helps... (oh, can l ask a favour, whilst l loved the colour and font of your message, can you pretty please with a cherry on top, make the text bigger... )

Lauren - loved the video of Jack... not sure if that is the piano l saw on sale at Myer... will have to check it out, l showed DH the video... we had a good laugh, DH though Jack was trying to hump the piano

Leashie - great to hear from you - it sounds like the move was a really positive one for you and your family. I hope you continue to enjoy it there, sounds nice.

Lauren - good luck at the doctors with Jack - I hope he's Ok and it's just been a horrible few days of teething...:fingerscrossed: he's back to his old self soon

It was so hot last night I had trouble keeping Eloise cool. I couldn't get her room below 26 so I kept the ceiling fan on all night - she still slept through amazingly but I was so paranoid I kept waking up. I went and gave her a sleepy feed at 2.00 a.m. because it was so hot - she slept through it though  Hoorah

Shazza, I'm sorry to hear that you guys have not been well. If you can or get someone to pick up some hydralyte or gastrolyte from the chemist. They make them in iceblocks or I have the sachet forms. It's great for when they don't drink or have diahorrea/vomitting, it helps to replenish what they loose. And often if they are not drinking anything, they will drink that.

Hope you feel better soon.

Ditto all of that. There is no "wonder drug" you can give bubs when they have this. Just keep the fluids up as much as possible. If she feels like eating perhaps try watermelon to suck on. Just thinking of the fluid content.

If i is any consilation, we all had it while we were away and it's really difficult to look after a bub when your body feels so drained.
Have you got anyone that may be able to help you out today?

Hang in there.

Glad to hear you are on the improve Sharon.
Good to know that DH was able to help out today.

Been dam quiet here today.

Well the girls and I are on the end of three and a half days without J. It's been long, it's been hot, it's been lonely. He should be home around 10ish.
I never get used to the idea that he has to go away for work. We spent the first 2 years of our relationship living 450ks away and travelling on weekends. It was nothing for either of us to get up at 4am monday mornings and head back to work for the week.
Then we lived together, worked together breathed together for 7 years.
Now we are away from all our family and friends and you wonder why sometimes.

So now Mia is brushing Ellys hair. Good sight, they are having naked time before a bath and Elly is being the perfect model.

Coen is doing well now... thanks for asking!

Shazza - ewww you poor things... hope you are both feeling better after a good nights sleep... which you should be heading off to any minute.... :wizard: sleep well sleep well!!!!

My inlaws babysat Coen today, they did really well... l have asked them to do it again next Friday (my regular physio session)... I want/need Coen and them to get used to each other... l'll start stretching the time out a bit... my brother moved into his place today, l was going to go over and check it out this afternoon, but l was waiting for him to pick up his fridge & washing machine from our place... and well he didn't get here until 4.30pm... peak hour and to close to bedtime for Coen...

Have a big weekend this weekend... but it should be fun! Hope your all having a good one...

Kaelan has been pushing all the wrong buttons today... I cannot believe how naughty he has been. I even 'smacked' him on the hands a couple of times (very, very lightly... but just enough to get his attention). It's like he knows every little thing that he is not allowed to do.. and goes from location to location to misbehave. :hair:

Because our play-pen is currently around the christmas tree (doesn't stop the child or the kitten anyway), I'm going to get DF to retreive the port-a-cot from the garage... and that will become his 'time-out' spot until after christmas.

I can only start to wonder what life is going to be like with two !!

Penny, oh how life changes with a bub in your world.

If i can offer any advice, non judgemental of course. I believe K is just being a developmental baby. They will be inquisitive, annoying, destructive and what seems to be "misbehaving" because that is what they do.

I agree with discipline but be careful with the whole "Time Out thing at this age. They don't really get it. A child will barely grasp the concept of a punishment for what they believe is fun, until they are at least three or more

I obsereved a friend do it from an early age and it made no difference what so ever. This child was a nightmare until just recently (6).

Maybe not much help in the day to day juggle of what goes on but perhaps a reaasurance of what K is doing is pretty normal.

Shaz I'm probably to late but when M had gastro I had to syring water into her mouth it wasn't much but it still kept her fluids up a bit and its not easy to spit it out if you get up the side off the mouth.

Lots of fluids- no matter what it is really.
Try any kind of water ice blocks, lemonade etc etc...so long as she drinks and keeps her fluid levels up then she will be fine.
One suggestion is to syringe a few mls in every 10 minutes or so? Their little tummy's will be able to hold onto smaller doses much easier.
If her mouth starts getting 'claggy' then i would take her to the hospy- its a sure sign of dehydration.
I hope your all on the mend.

Life will be harder with 2- thats for sure-but K will also have someone else to 'entertain' when the new one arrives. Makes for interesting times-let me assure you lol.
Maybe if you could set up a little obstacle course for him? He just sounds like an inquisitive normal baby.
The obstacle course could be just some teddy bears, a tunnel and some little rewards (being toys) to grab along the way. You could change it around thru the course of the day so it looks different for him.
Just an idea to keep him occupied.

Us- well not much been happening here but the kids are getting a PS2 for xmas (im one of those restrictive mothers) who doesn't allow the kids much TV time unless its raining and definitely NO computer games unless the weather is too yuk outside. Kaelan's behaviour is completely normal... and this is good developmentally wise. Doesn't mean I have to like it though !! *LOL*

And as for the 'time out'... it's not for him... it's for me

Unfortunately our house is not designed for young children (probably should have thought this through a bit more before building it)... so poor K is very restricted where he can go, what he can touch etc. I don't have a single area in this house where I can leave him to explore and entertain himself for awhile. As I've probably written before, our house is very open plan, so I can't section off a room or an area for him to utilise.

This is the sole reason why we have decided to build a new house... and we've put actually deposits down this week. Once built, there will be carpeted rooms that I'll be able to barricade off to allow the kiddies to run amuck in without mean mummy coming in to ruin their fun all the time.

All going well, the new house should be built by September/October next year.

Oh Wow! That's exciting! I must have missed that convo on Thursday. Jack sounds exactly the same as Kaelan. I've become very relaxed (not sure if that's a good thing) and let Jack roam everywhere - not so great when he ate the cat litter but he seems happy

I like Tan's idea of the obstacle course..might give that a whirl

Us- Well Jack is still not feeding well, better than he was but not like usual. Looks like he's on his way to self weaning :( I'm not too upset. I'm really proud to have made it this far considering all the problems we have had along the way.

I got that growth thing checked out and it's something that will need to be surgically removed...EEK! Were getting a second opinion first but the most likely outcome is an op. It will have to be done soon too. Poor Jack. I'm a bit upset about the thought of him having to be in hospital for an operation when he's so little.

Could teething me affecting Jack want to not feed from the breast? Lily went away from me for nearly a week when her top teeth were coming through.

EEK about the the growth. Is it anything serious? or being removed for other reasons? It is always hard to imagine them in pain.

That's what I've been thinking....not really sure. Been doing panadol and nurofen and it doesn't seem to help. He won't take formula either. He's having 2 feeds a day - early morning and night. The amount of solids he's having is ridiculous...and the poo to match. I hope he does come back to the boob. I would like to make it to 12 months

It's a collection of blood vessles that's come to the surface and is growing. It has to be removed or else it will continue to grow and bleed. I'm finding it all a bit scary

Glad your feeling a bit better  Jack's had gastro before...it was awful.

Penny - Way to go on the house deposit! Where did you decide to build? Would rearranging your furniture help at the moment? i.e. moving the couch against the unstable shelves, putting the table on its side to block off a wide hallway. Probably no overly user-friendly for you, but it might help give Kaelan a safer place to run amok.

Tanya - PS2... your kids are going to love you! Or will they love Santa? The eye toy is heaps of fun. Your arms get soooooo sore! Good to hear that you kicked DH's butt.

Lauren - Is Jack's growth growing, or just getting bigger proportionally as he grows? Would it be a general anaesthetic? Would be tricky using just a local on a wriggling bub. I'm sure it will be fine. Maybe Jack should hang out with Liam and I... our medical problems seem to spontaneously disappear!

Sharon - Glad to hear that you and Lily are both starting to feel better. It's awful being sick.

Us - Well, I had a good break from it, but AF finally decided to make an appearance again. I mentioned it to my Mum and my MIL, and both of them said that my milk will probably dry up now. Why are they so anti-BF now when they were so much for it in the beginning? Has Liam reached some invisible cut-off age already? That being said though, I'm over breast feeding. I'm just holding out until I can move him directly to cow's milk. 12 months. Yeah?

Also, I *think*, just *maybe*, that Liam might have his first tooth about to break through. Finally! I could be imagining it as I've been expecting it for months now, but I think I can feel a harder bit of lower gum, and it looks a slightly paler colour. Will wait and see I guess.

Liam has just fallen asleep in his high chair. He never does that... must have been tired. Very cute.

Yep. It appeared about 4 weeks ago and is now a bit bigger than a match stick head. I would assume a general. Jack won't even let me look in his mouth so I can't imagine what he would do with a scapal coming towards him.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed we can have it burnt off. Hope Liam's toothy doesn't give you too many troubles

So DH looked after Jack today...he (DH) threw up in the shower before I left and when I got home NOTHING had been done and he was laying on the lounge room floor. Oh dear...men are truly pathetic aren't they? I'm sorry to hear about Jack's growth - it's good that you're getting a second opinion, hopefully it can be burnt off, as you say.

Mon - It's weird to hear peoples' ideas about bfeeding isn't it? I'm going to be very interested to see our families reactions when they realise I'm still breastfeeding. When I was home last time and very tired and rundown they were all for me giving up at 6 months. People have such strong views about extended breastfeeding - certainly beyond 12 months. I think that's most peoples' 'cut-off' age. I just got af back this month too - I really want to carry on breastfeeding though especially when I go back to work - just the morning and night feeds. Not sure if I'll manage it.

We're packing for the big trip - I'm trying to be organised! Is it true that you can't give Phenergan to a child under 2? I don't want to drug Miss E obviously, I'm just concerned that if she is very unsettled half way through our big journey it will be horrible for her and us. Will the doctor think I'm a drug-pushing mother if I ask her about medications with a sedative effect?

I think you can...my friend used it when they just went to QLD. Her child is 'high spirited'

I've been getting the comments about putting Jack on the bottle...grrr! My mum tried to tell me yesterday that bonox is just as good as breastmilk and I should be giving him that...WTF?? I don't think your milk would dry up. Lots of women b/f during pregnancy

Jack's sick :( He's had a low grade fever since last night. Not sure what's up as he got the all clear form the doc on Friday.

The good thing is he's back feeding like a trooper, mostly for comfort I think. He just layed there with my boob in his mouth for 15 minutes. Poor thing.

He's asleep now.....hopefully for a while :fingerscrossed:

Ok so DH and I have just realised how pathetic we are when it comes to electronics...we bought a set top box and have absolutley no idea how to set it up.

Other than that it has been a pretty good weekend. J got home about 10ish Friday night and Mia was desperate to stay up and see him. He had been away for three days. So we rode the time out and played "anokoly"...or for the rest of us it is called Monopoly. She has great speech, always has but there are some words that she struggles with. The other one that makes me laugh is yellow...we practice...Yell..ow...." yeahyo!!

LAUREN: Coming from experience the more you leave bub with them the more they MAY get the concept of doing more than "surpervisng them" I can go do the food shopping and race in race out because the work load doubes by the time i get home.
In saying that i had a snooze on the lounge (unheard of) this arvo and J did the washing and actually took control of the daily requirements. Well for an hour or so. In my half sleep i listened to him and Mia play anokoly..

...an domsething for most of you to look forward to...J and i are very careful about the language we use BUT!!! Mia was getting changed to go out tonight and when she took off the pants she was wearing she said...
"there you are ******* green jeans, in your draw"
I didn't react but laughed under my breathe. Every now again she will drop bloody, and that is our fault becasue last year she was getting bitten by mozzies and we would say "bloody mozzies:....oops

Hope everyone else had a great weekend.

Catch you during the week.

PS: Since i mastered the art of photobucket my camera lead is 900ks away. Should have it in a day or two and i can then bombard you all again!!

PPS:JEN...hope the move went well and there are not toooo many pubs near by!!!

Lauren - that's a shame that Jack is sick. When do you think he will get that growth removed? Your DH sounds a bit like mine..........mine's getting better but now admits it's hard to get things done when you look after bubs.

Mon - Has Liam's tooth popped through yet? My Liam has two bottom teeth now.......I think the top ones are about to make an appearance.

Hannah - good luck packing. When do you fly out? Might not get to see you before you go....so I hope you have the best time and keep in touch.

Went to our Xmas BBQ yesterday for Mothers Group. The weather was very average.......so windy. It was good though to catch up with everyone. Our mothers group is very low key. We aren't meeting weekly next year, just once per month on a Saturday morning. I won't be able to go because I have swimming with Liam.

Liam is now stirring after a half hour sleep. Will feed him lunch. He's got in this habit of waving his arms around everywhere when I'm feeding him. If I give him some finger food he will eat from the spoon, otherwise he just plays up and throws food around

Afternoon lovely ladies... how's your day going?

Penny - congratulations on the new house... would love to hear all about it, where, what your planning etc.

Mon - Go Liam!!! Hope the teeth come through painlessly.

Breastfeeding - l found everyone really supportive until Coen started approaching 6 months... then it was... how long do you think you will continue for, when are you going to wean etc.
I am trying to prepare for going back to work next year so whilst l was at the doc's today l asked about how many feeds Coen should be having - he said providing he has a balanced solids diet it doesn't really matter... just do it on demand.... I also asked about Cow's milk... he said definitely not until 12 months cos it can play havoc with their digestive system... so there goes my idea of swapping out one breastfeed during the day for cow's milk...
so l tried to cut out one of Coen's milk feed's today... l figured cos his 3rd feed is usually quite little perhaps l could merge no. 2 & 3 together, make no.2 a little later... l don't think so... my little man refused to sleep until he had had his booby!!! So have decided he can just keep having his 4 milk drinks per day... he'd probably end up drinking the same amount anyway... Out comes the breast pump :(... if l find l can't do it l can always make his day sleeps formula... but l think l can handle the expressing for a month or two... we'll see!!!

So DH looked after Jack today...he (DH) threw up in the shower before I left and when I got home NOTHING had been done and he was laying on the lounge room floor. He then took himself off to bed for over an hour  When I asked him why he hadn't even done the dishes he said he was 'supervising' Jack.... Oh yeah - men can look after the baby OR do something else - not both!!! But heaven forbid the house is untidy when they get home... what on earth could we have been doing all day???? (sorry small vent... DH and l had a little episode about this last week and its still a bit of a sore point... but he apologised so l really should move on l guess)

Hannah - good luck on the prep for the trip... when you get to the UK (if you have any time) can you please post any tips for long travel... we might be going to the US in January... and l have absolutely no idea how l am going to cope with Coen... it was hard enough in the doc's waiting room today for 45 min.!!!

:wave:Ren!!!

happybirthday Andrew!!!! hope you enjoy the movie Leashie.

We sent most of our Christmas cards on Saturday... glad to have gotten that out the way... l hate having it hang over my head!

Lauren - How's Jack this morning? I hope he is sleeping for you. Did he get any new teeth over night? Are you still planning on taking him to the doc's???

Coen got an all clear from the Doc's this morning, they were just checking his liver cos apparently after bronchiolitis there can be problems... this arvo we are going to go visit Esta and her 2 month old baby Katherine (l haven't seen her since the day she was born)!!!

Just waiting for Coen to wake up... he took long enough to go to sleep so who know's when that will be... (my fault l guess ... how dare l try and deprive him of booby)

Lauren - How's Jack this morning? I hope he is sleeping for you. Did he get any new teeth over night? Are you still planning on taking him to the doc's???

Jack has a virus. He has a sore throat with pus on his tonsils :( Doc said he was likely to get stomach cramping with the virus too

He did this :hissy: for 3 hours last night and has been permanently attached to my hip today. Still has a temp too.

DH and I both had about 3 hours sleep and my back is killing me as I had to rock him half the night. I needed a break so DH took him but Jack screamed and screamed until I took over. Poor DH. He's feeling a bit second best

Screaming baby...back later

:wave::wave: Hello hello hello from the city!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've missed you gals - we have been in our new place for just over a week now and absolutley loving it!! Had a horrid first night though, there was an accident at the end of the street and a 25 year old woman was killed - hit head on by a drunk driver and thrown from the car, pretty horrific... and all the traffic from surrounding streets was diverted past our place, so we had sirens and the whole works. I was in tears as it happened literally a few mins after I had just been out with a friend to get our first city meal - Indian take away. We are 3 streets back from the beach and the pub - apparently this man was really really drunk and drove out of the pub carpark on the wrong side of the road (about 8pm ish too). Pretty sad...
...on a lighter note the house is so wonderful, the neighbours are lovely and very friendly, Connor went straight to sleep and slept the whole night the first 2 nights of being here (back to waking up now though - agh). I have been to the beach everyday and sometimes twice a day, been out for walkd with the pram and out with DH a few mornings for brekky just down the road at the local "cafe strip" LOVING BEING HERE!!! We also had our work xmas dinner on sat night and mum and dad came and looked after Connor - it was weird to go out and be able to both drink and catch a cab home!! Had a massive hangover on sunday and Connor was a complete little Sh!t but thats a different story.
Has taken so long to get the ADSL connected and I have been having severe internet withdrawls - so glad to be back online. I haven't read the last week and a half's worth of posts yet - I was too excited and wanted to say hi ASAP, I will try and get through them all over the next few days... so huge apologies If I have missed any big events. Hope you are all well :hugs:

hi all

did anyone get their SS gift today?

lauren- jacks been sick quite a bit since that first chest infection. Eli too. Im taking him to get a hearing test just to make sure all these virul infections havent effected his hearing. i thought id mention this to you as ive 'been there done that' with dd. i thought her coughs, ear infection, chest infections ect. had an effect on her hearing and we found out, at 10 months, she had otitis media. When we went from bad to worse she had an Operation at 22 months to insert grommets and tho she lost one after 3 months (and then the ear drum ruptured) it was like having a new child.

Tan- whats the eye toy you got your kids? what do you do with it? We also got a ps2 and singstars for one of the kids. ones pop and ones r&b. (BTW what does R&B stand for? dp and i are bickering the difference) but never heard of the eye toy.

we got SIMS something island, cant remember. Got the other dd a psp for xmas and got SIMS pets for that one. i love the SIMS games, so fun. DPs joking still that i only got those for me.

jen- sounds like your loving the city! You sound really happy!

wow how hot has the weather been!

What time were you at the doc's??? Is Jack feeling any better now?

3pm...DH came with us which was good. What about you?

No better...worse I think. He spent the afternoon laying on my chest. He even went to sleep which shows just how sick he is. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day

at 10 months, she had otitis media

Jack has had this too. It's listed on the referal for the skin specialist as a previous history

What is it?

my_lot
10-12-2007, 08:39 PM
lauren - otitis media is fluid in the middle ear. We had grommets put in to keep it open to drain. they look like the rings you put around a birds foot.

This problem effected her walking and talking.

ive been to a few meetings now for ds starting school in 08 and they are stressing getting the kids hearing checked and letting the school know of any history of otitis media.

dd is still hard of hearing if shes got sinus or a virul infection. the 5 ruptures in one ear has left her with hearing loss in one ear.

Eli is no where near like dd was at this age. she was so slow (late crawling/walking/talking) but hes been sick enough for me to worry about his ears now so hes off for a hearing test and will repeat that every 2-3 months now til im happy.. no matter what the result is of the first its always worth getting a second test done.

I've been getting the comments about putting Jack on the bottle...grrr! My mum tried to tell me yesterday that bonox is just as good as breastmilk and I should be giving him that...WTF?? I don't think your milk would dry up. Lots of women b/f during pregnancy

I agree that there are a lot of breast feeding nazis about - you must do it but only for so long - blah, blah, blah. I personally want to keep going a bit longer - but i take it day by day. Lily has only had two boob feed the last two days - she will attach and pull off screaming. i thought it was my supply but now i am engorged so it isnt that i guess. must be those god damm teeth again!! not just me, she is anti fluid of all types which worries me after she has just had a bout of gastro....

how many wet nappies are they suppose to have a day?

:wave::wave: Hello hello hello from the city!!!!!!!!!!!!

 glad the trip went well. Accidents like that can really shake you up.

hi all
(BTW what does R&B stand for?

rythmn and blues?

sandy - i have been giving lily a little bit of milk on her cereal now for about a week. havent given her a full milk drink yet though. When i go to work around and lily is drinking (not like today) she will have 4 feeds - when i go sometimes she just waits for me to drink (like skips the morning tea feed and has the 3pm feed when i get there). if he has formula he may only need one not two as the formula seems to last a bit longer....

Lauren - i feel for you with your crappy nights and difficult day. Lily slept through last night for the first time in about 5 days. Now if i could just convince her to drink something........!!!!!

R&B- rhythm & Blues?
I must admit? The Racing wheel? Well thats got the kids name on it but really? Its mine!

This is what DS1 has as well. He has the grommets but some days it seems like he is talking thru a paper bag. Hard to understand- so quiet and muffled!
His also a great lip reader. Makes for muttering under my breath and interesting occurance LOL.
Thise couple of years, where he could ardly hear due to the fluid in his ears has made him a good little lip reader and is able to interpret body language extremely well!

Ren- sooo good to hear from you! Im glad you are settling in!:hugs:

Leashie- give Andrew a big happybirthday from us!

Blubber- too funny re the 'bloody green jeans". That had me nearly wetting myself- out of the moths of babes eh!

Hannah- good luck packing! Just think-it'll be great when you get there!
Oh and on the Phenergan? I think you do actually have to wait till 2- talk to you GP though-they may suggest a half dose?
I dont think they would think you were looking to 'drug' your baby LOL- most GP wont hesitate in recommending something for long haul flights.:sunshine:

the singstar case says to use it with an eye toy.

cant imagine why youd want to strap something to your eye to sing and dance? i really hope it shows her a few new dance moves im so blo)dy sick of the ones she knows. her principal overseas all dance moves at the school. (they dance at break time) ashe marches on over and tells them not to shake their bottoms in school time! im not sure that singstar is G rated. oh gosh she might get suspended for the dance moves she learns off singstar!

SIMS on the other hand....now theres a game! Dp came back from thailand a few years ago with SIMS2 before it came out here. he thought he was so good. we couldnt play it tho. couldnt load it and we couldnt read the instructions- nothing was in english!

lauren - otitis media is fluid in the middle ear

I thought that's what it was. Thanks for the advice. I might get him tested too. Hearing isn't worth mucking around with.

how many wet nappies are they suppose to have a day?

4-6 nappies. Jack's doc said he should be having around 500mls of milk as a minimum. I've been struggling for a while to get Jack to drink. He's been having 130mls of water per day though so he won't dehydrate he just needs more milk during the day.

My MCHN suggested getting him to drink out of a straw cup as it didn't involve him tilting his head back so he could still see what was going on around him. Maybe that would be worth a try with Lily too. She said they are more likely to drink more as they will just sip away as they do things or watch stuff happening around them

Hi ya lovely ladies,

Well we're back from sunny Brisbane. Had a ball and back into the swing of things. I thought I would catch up on all the goss.

Penny, Life with 2 will be busy, but it only lasts for such a short time, because then they grow up.
Lauren, Poor Jack. How is he today? Did your dr tell you what is was called? The reason I ask is Matthew has lots of little red blood cells that cluster at the surface of the skin. You may have seen them at a meet and lots of kids get them. Matthew's is known as HAEMANGIAOMATOIS. If it's this, then they have a tendency to get bigger, but by the time they are 2 or 3 it should fade. If he has to have it operated on, then it's always scary but having been through NICU and Special Care with Ben and Matthetw and seeing first hand how wonderful nursing staff can be with kids, I'm sure he'lll be fine. It is daunting and very overwhelming, but :fingerscrossed: the second opinion will show something different.
Hannah, You should be able to give phenergan to Eloise, just check with your GP. Phenergan can also have the opposite effect.
Shazza, If they are having 4 wet nappies a day, then they should be fine. It only becomes a problem when it is less. Have you tried the hydralyte? Or diluted apple juice?

Have a fantastic day tommorrow, and I'll touch base sometime tommorow.

Did your dr tell you what is was called?

It's called a pyogenic granuloma. I've done some googling and it's nothing nasty. It needs to be removed as it will just keep bleeding when it's knocked.

Sharon - How was the chrissy party? Did the boys fly well?

Jen - Welcome Back  Glad to hear the move went well and your enjoying it already

US - Jack was up at 1.30 and then 5.30. His seperation axienty is even worse this morning and god forbid I say no to him - he just bursts out in tears. He's basically crying at everything.

Another fun fillied day with Mr Cranky Pants

My other exciting news is we might be coming to QLD!!!! DH's work want's to send us away somewhere as a thank you for all his hard work and he has lots of frequent flyers. Maybe next year sometime...

oh my gosh Riley went threw this about a month ago, if i said no to him he would put his head down and cry, or his new thing he picked up is when he has the crankies with me he puts his heap down and looks at me threw the top of his eyes, it looks so funny cause my dad used to do it to me when i was little if i had done something wrong. Riley was crying at everything and very sooky and dint want to be away from me for about 2 maybe 3 weeks. the time will pass, i also found Riley had a tooth coming and had a growth spurt all at once. the time will pass and you will have a whole new baby again hehe thats the fun bit.

Yay for Liam's tooth how exciting. it his first yeah? gosh cant believe some bubs here are only just getting teeth and Riley has 8 and his eye teeth are all moving, they must be sore because im not aloud to ever put my finger near his mouth.

Leshie- i got the nappy the other day, still haven't got around to using it cause im scared to try when out just in case lol and i haven't been home much the last few weeks... oh and guess what i bought a kk..

us- well Riley is getting heaps better at his walking.. he loves to get between me and the bench im trying to cook at, and hubby just doesnt do anything, its so annoying.
ahh ive told hubby i refuse to clean up after him anymore its just not fair that i have to do anything, its not fair on me and its not fair on Riley, because it means not only does daddy have no time for him but it means mummy has no time to and i wont have that at all. one of us needs to give him our full attention and if its going to be me then hubby needs to pick up his slack, i mean come one how hard is it to do some dishes? i do them every day.. how hare is it to change a wet bum? how hard is it to put a load of washing on and put the vacume away? i mean really..
as you can tell im not in the greatest of moods this week, i think ive broken or sprained my foot, its really impossible to walk on it aches so much, just sitting here its throbbing. so i have no idea whats happened i don't even know what ive done to make it hurt.
anyway enough of my winging for now.. hope everyone is well..

ill pop back in later if i get a chance...

Lauren: I hope your day has been a little better but more importantly Jack is on the improve. As for the bonox..no comment. Don't worry my MIL...grrr....wanted to give a lollie pop the other week and i was the worst mother for not letting her.

Jen: Man that country life really wasn't you... Nothing better than beng in a place that feels like home. If you don't want to specifically reveal where you are that is fine but as a fellow South Aussie (i think we are the only ones) where abouts are you. Can be cryptic if you like.

Kim: Riely seems to be progressing really well. Next thing he will be asking to go to school and for a mobile phone!! Also hope Dh pulls his finger out a bit for you.:fingerscrossed:

Ren: Good work on settling in. Good for you and good for the boys.

Mon: Is this Liam's 1st tooth? Elly has only just got her bottom two.

Sharon: You and Lily ok now?
Coming from a bottle feeding Mum you BF girls seem to go from one extreme to the other. We are all told to BF, BF, BF and now everyone is telling you to stop. Bit unfair really.

TAN: glad you got a laugh out of my post.

Well J is home late again, Mia is exhausted after child care and Elly is grumpy. More teeth I suspect for the little darling.

So sorry that we didnt manage to catch up while you were is brisbane. it is probably for the best though as lily is still sick and i would of hated for you or your boys to catch something off us. Maybe next time.

SO then after a day of very carefully giving lily small sips of liguid all day at 6pm she sicked up everything i gave her all day. now she has gone to bed and refused to have anything else to drink.

so tired but i need to do the washing as all the towels are covered in vomit.

Hi to everybody else !!!

Me - Just like last time, the MS has stepped up a notch at six weeks. I've felt absolutely awful all day and have nearly vomitted several times.. I've also discovered that being in a moving car makes me feel REALLY chucky !!

I got a couple of calls from the Mercy Hospital today (during mothers group mind you... I had to keep running off to the other room so that the girls wouldn't find out I'm pregnant).. anyways, the Mercy have happily accepted me as a patient... but the doctors are booked out til Feb... so I'm having to go in super early for my appointment which will be next week !! (it's the only appointment they had left). Normally they do the first appointment at 10 weeks, but I'll be seen at seven weeks. Anyways, I'm so relieved... I loved the Mercy and I was starting to worry that they were going to make me go to a closer hospital. Thankfully, because I had Kaelan there (and moreso because of the cholestasis that I will probably get)... they are happy to accept me for this pregnancy.. Hallelujah !!

Definately time for bed... I've never been as exhausted in my entire life as I have been these past couple of weeks... this baby-making business is obviously very tiring work. I feel like I've been hit by a Mack truck...

Welcome Back  What a shame you were sick. Did you meet up with any hubbers?

lily is worse again. she got up at 4am really hungry and wouldnt stop crying so i gave her bottle which she drank and sicked up and then we repeated that again.

Oh Sharon :hugs: What about taking her to the hospital? Poor Lily. I hope she picks up. It's very draining when they are sick

MS has stepped up a notch at six weeks. I've felt absolutely awful all day and have nearly vomitted several times.. I've also discovered that being in a moving car makes me feel REALLY chucky !!

:hugs: I hope it doesn't last to long for you. If you need a break Jack and Kaelan can have a play date

Us - Jack is much better this morning. No more temp and he's not as sooky. He also slept thru so I've had 7 hours sleep in a row. My head feels a lot clearer today.

Sharon - Sorry to hear Lily is so sick. I've been told that it always looks like they sick up a lot of liquid, but she may have still kept some down. But you can never be too sure. As someone else mentioned, if you think she is becoming dehydrated, take her to the doctor/hospital.

Lauren - Great news that Jack is getting better and slept through. Hopefully he has got all the bugs going around and he doesn't get sick again for a long time.

Penny - Glad to hear the Mercy will have you back. Hope the morning sickness settles down soon.

Marianne - Hi-Five irritates me with its over-chirpiness. Can't say I recognise e.n.e.r.g.y... another chirpy song I guess?

Sharon - Is Matthew's weight a concern? Can't believe they will be having their birthdays soon!

Kim - Is Riley getting around faster walking than crawling? And is he getting into more stuff? Just wondering what we'll have to change in our house once we have a toddler. With a lazy husband I think you have to train them slowly. Perhaps start by getting him to help you do something, like clean the bathroom. Then next time they can't use the excuse "I don't know how to do it". Also, the theory is that if you do something consistently for a month it is supposed to become instinct. I've been asking DH to hang up his wet towel or put it in the laundry basket, and finally I don't have to ask him anymore! It's like training a puppy really. I've been doing the same thing with myself, and making sure I make the beds every morning. Has become part of my routine now.

Us - Liam's tooth has only just come through, but geez it's sharp! I could feel it last night when I was bf and without meaning it I yelled out. Liam started crying, probably in fright. He's probably used to using his gums to massage the milk out at the start, or something. Hopefully we sort this out.

Liam slept for ages yesterday afternoon and missed his afternoon feed. So he only had two bf all day. He didn't cry for it when he woke up, and he still slept through the night. Do you think two feeds is enough? I wasn't planning to drop a feed for a few weeks yet.

I'm all lined up now to go back to work January 2nd two days a week. My manager said there won't be much work to do over January, and a lot of people will still be on leave, so he expects me to come in late and leave early. I can do that! Nice way to ease back into things.

Mon - great to here that you will be able to ease back into work! Shorter days will be ideal to start with as you settle back into the working life.

Lauren - glad that Jack is on the improve and slept through last night. When is he having his operation to remove the growth?

Penny - I hope your morning sickness improves........or only lasts a short time. Yes, baby making is hard work! No doubt you will be very tired especially also having a bub to look after. Rest up :chillpill:

Sharon - sounds like Lily has caught a bug of some sort or gastro? What a useless dr. If she is still no keeping any food down you might need to get some of that fluid replacement from the chemist.

US - Got the paed this morning for a check up and slowly getting my Christmas decos out and will hopefully put up the tree on the weekend. Is anyone's bubs ripping off their nappy when they get the chance? Once I've put Liam's nappy on he straight away rips off the tab. It's hard enough getting it on him in the first place! These bubs continue to challenge us don't they

When is he having his operation to remove the growth?

We're seeing the skin specialist in early January. Sometime early next year I think. I really hope it can be burnt off :fingerscrossed:

Jo I've been meaning to say for ages I love your new Avatar - Liam certainly does have attitude :D How cute!

And that's a no to taking off the nappy but I'm sure it will happen soon enough

Anybody seen the new Bonds easysuit? No buttons!! I got one at Kmart on the weekend. Highly recommend them!

Jack slept for an hour and a half this morning. Woo Hoo!! I wasn't used to it and kind of wandered around the house looking for things to do

I thought 3 was the minimum but if he's still alert, happy and sleeping well then I wouldn't worry....Lucky you!

Great news about work too :D

Mon, i tried so hard to never have Hi-5 in this house. Inevitable when Grandma's, Nanas and the like introduce them to it.
It is chirpy, Nathan annoys the hell out of me but i still find myself singing along. That is inevitable as well.
Main thing is Mia loves it, she sings, dances all the moves and learns. Can't be too bad a thing i guess.

Hi All,
Exhausted today, so just a quick hi from me... we have family arriving from France tomorrow morning to stay with us and we are barely unpacked from the move.

Marianne - we have moved to South Brighton/ Seacliff (our address is seacliff but we are 1 house from the South Brighton sign!!

Check in again in a few days... sorry to be so distant - so much unpacking and cleaning to get done.

Mon, Thanks for asking about Matthew. Ben put on 1.5kg in just under 2 months, yet Matthew in the same time frame put on only 270grams. He seems to have been tappering off his usual curve over the past 4 months or so. I'm concerned as is the paed. I just hope it's nothing.

Great news about your job. Where about is your job and what days will you be working?

Kim that sounds awful :hugs: Hope it improves for you soon

it has a little but its still very sore to walk on i two hope it is better soon, its driving me insane because i cant carry Riley properly when he needs to be carried, and i cant walk straight so its effecting my back. ahh i hate being injured.

Hello all
Kim: Riely seems to be progressing really well. Next thing he will be asking to go to school and for a mobile phone!! Also hope Dh pulls his finger out a bit for you.:fingerscrossed:

Sharon: You and Lily ok now?
Coming from a bottle feeding Mum you BF girls seem to go from one extreme to the other. We are all told to BF, BF, BF and now everyone is telling you to stop. Bit unfair really.

Riley is just going so quick its quite scary he has been trying to run, i just don't know how to slow him down. he can get up on the lounge alone, i posted pics of that last week, he is up there right now i can see him and he has the remote in one hand flicking threw the channels.. cheeky monkey.

As for the Breast feeding im a bottle feeding mummy too have been since Riley was 7and 1/2 weeks old, and i know how you feel, Riley was starving for 7 weeks and it was just keep going keep going keep going then once i switched i got this look from some ppl like omg what are you doing you should be BFing then others were like about time you switched, i think when it comes down to it, if you can do it do it till you cant any more, if you cant do it you shouldn't have to be made to feel like your doing wrong, just like if you chose to BF till your child is how ever old then you shouldn't be made to feel it is wrong, at the end of the day it is your child and you make the choice of what is wrong and right not them. Sooner or later people will see that.
stay strong Sharon if its what you want to do ten gosh do it!!!

Riley is starting to get quicker, like i said he is trying to run, he climbs everything, its scary, just now he tried climbing the high chair from the lounge because he could see my phone on top of it and he wanted it.
He inst so much more into everything, he is more like come one lets go do something, he loves playing chasings poppy plays with him all the time..
he can open the sliding doors better now too so thats a big thing, and he can push open normal doors and close them as well so that too is a big thing, but other then that i don't think there is much he gets into he is more into concentrating on walking and getting under my feet.. oh thats another big thing, and he can open the oven and set the timer on the oven, ive never even spent the time to try and he can do it, a 10 month old can set my oven timer...
He loves to see how things work and he loves numbers and different things, something he isnt used to loves it, something he has never seen loves it haha he loves animals too which is great.
i dont think you will have any problems most of the stuff Riley does he did when he was crawling or walking holding things or even just standing..

well i just cough him climbing on to the high chair, so i best be off.. smells a bit smelly hehe

Have a lovely day all and ill pop in again when mr is sleeping..

Jack watches TV but seems to prefer the ads. He really likes the McDonalds one where the little girl is doing eeni meeni mini moe to choose her happy meal. Second favorite would be the clark rubber ad with the duck

I have the TV on in the afternoons and he will look at it occasionally while he goes about his business. He like high 5 too much to my disgust...I hate them :shame:

Yep, Thursday is the night! From 8.30pm our time Hannah :)

Had a pretty good day here. Jack's had 2 sleeps of an hour each since 8am. He was down by 6pm. This routine seems to be working so far. I'm hoping the sleeps will get a bit longer as time goes on.

We have added a new bedtime routine too. He now sleeps with Mr Giraffe. Mr Giraffe gets kisses from mum and then kisses from Jack and they both lay down together. Today it's worked at every sleep. No crying and he's out within 5 minutes.

He's still not feeding well. I bought formula today :crying: I haven't opened it yet.

Kim - about your foot - it might be a good idea to ice it each night to settle down any inflammation. Try not to limp that will just make it worse. Maybe if you wear your joggers around the house for a week and avoid flipflops that may help too. any get off your foot and elevate it as often you can.

Also i just wanted to say that you hit the nail on the head re:breast feeding. Often when i read your posts i think you sound wise beyond your years.

Lauren -PMSL re the ads - maybe jack will be an ad executive?
- good work introducing the comforter with jack - i hope it continues to help him estabish his routine.
- re: formula - the day is coming here too. i mean lily has formula anyway but only when i have been away. i think i am going to give up the day feed and the night feed (she refuses me anyway). i think i will keep giving the morning feed as long as she will take it. but i treat each feed as though it may be my last. i think there is nothing wrong with formula but to me giving up bf is a sign that my little baby is really growing up.

Lily is officially mobile from room to room (finally). it isnt fast and it is a bum shuffle (not a full crawl) but she gets there eventually. :smiliedance:

Work confirmed that they can give me the hours i want next year - just 4-5 hours 2 days and gradually build up to 2 full days - and i can start the week after lily starts daycare (mid jan). :yelclap:

Firstly thank you so much you just made my night i like to think i am wise too hehe

and in regards to my foot my gosh i think you found my problem, ive been wearing a new pair or flip flops for about 2 weeks now and they seem to be the only thing i wear because its so hot, ill have to try another pair of shoes my god you must have super powers hehe

Exactly! I didn't expect giving it up to affect me so emotionally. I always thought it would be my decision to wean. I will miss our special booby cuddles :(

Jack's been refusing the day feeds, although today he took one side at lunch. Morning is the best. The bedtime feed is getting harder

I'd be happy to keep up morning and night with a formula during the day. I feel though that if I introduce formula full time it will be the begining of the end

I'm going to give it a few more days until he's fully recovered and see what happens.

after being up and down all night she is now asleep. lucky bugger. ive had about 2 hours sleep.

My_lot - that's horrible for your dd. Will the cast be off before she returns to school? I hope you've had some sleep since going to the hospital.

ziggy - yes, this thread has quietened down a lot. I think it's the time of the year.....everyone is out Christmas shopping or going to social things......I've been busy tidying up the house which still isn't tidy

mummybunny - How's your foot now?

US - well I've still got a bit of Christmas shopping to do. I've baked my Christmas cake and putting up the tree this weekend. Liam has two top teeth about to cut through. He's woken up crying in the middle of the night a couple of times & I'm sure it's the toothy pegs. They are all coming through at once I think, poor bubba :(.

Anyone use one of those portable highchairs, you know the small ones that sit on a standard chair? Was thinking of buying one for when we go away and don't have access to a highchair.

SuperFrog
15-12-2007, 12:30 PM
I'm still here too! Yep, busy time of year. Have been out and about Christmas Shopping, and spending more time with Liam and MIL as he'll be staying with her when I go back to work after New Year.

Kay - OUCH! Sounds entirely unpleasant. But, I remember when I was younger I was jealous of all the kids that broke their arm and got a cast to be signed by everyone. So maybe there is a bright side??

Jo - I've got one of the high chairs that straps to a seat for my Mum and Dad's place. Only bought it last week and used it once, but it worked really well. I've also seen a fabric one that the ties onto the chair and the baby sits in. Hard to explain. Looks interesting. My friend bought one and says it works well, so I might have to reverse engineer it and see if I can make one.

Us - Had my work Christmas party last night. Was good, but sad at the same time. All the people made redundant were invited, so it was the last time that I'll see a lot of them. Also, the new company doesn't have a Christmas party, so it is the end of a tradition I guess. Was still great to catch up with everyone and hear all the goss. I found out where my new desk will be (next to a nice big window... score!), although it doesn't sound like many people will be there for my first day back.

Gotta run... later folks!

Glad that jack is back on the boob today lauren.

Unfortnately Lilys BF days are over. She had weaned herself to only one feed a day from me. Then this morning during the one BF she whinged and eventually bit me really hard. So i have decided that enough is enough. It is all over red rover. etc etc.

I am pretty sad to have lost that part of our relationship but it also has a lot of postitves - i am freer, dh got up in the night to get her a bottle, can drink whenever i want etc. I spose i am going to have to watch what i eat a bit more now.

Now that we are using bottles i need a heap of advice please. How many feeds, how much each time. what size teat should i use? i am using skinny bottles with pigoen teats - y and M - should i move up a size? she only seems to take 90 ml at a time the moment. Advice needed please

Re: solids - it takes nearly one hour 3 times a day to feed lily now. she will only feed herself finger foods now but takes ages to get anything in. I bought a bowl to stick to the high chair table and i am working on letting her take things out of the nowl. Works well excpet when she pulls off the bowl and dumps it on the floor.

Current fav finger foods - cheese clices, sandwiches (ricotta and ham), cherries, nectaries, chicken, cooked vegs.

Thanks lauren, mon, joanne, marianne, kim, sharon and kay for posting today. i was feeling a little paranoid - like when the whole class in school gets invited to a party except you.

I am hosting a xmas party for my family tomorrow - of the stress!!!!

hi all:wave:

dd has been a right little :hair: all day. shes tired and cranky and wont sleep and is frustrated that she cant do anything. and its everything. weve been told not to let her move it till she sees the fracture clinic next, gets another xray to see its in place and then gets a new cast on it. Shes been told if it doesnt "set" straight between now and then it will be another manipulation( knocked out, broken and reset) to put it back together straight.

the kids are at 3 different places on a friday so i go after work with the dog and do the rounds to pick them up. well, dp got home early so we decided hed go to one and id go to the other two. It was while i was there that it happened. i was actually standing about 2mtrs away from her. another child (around same age) jumped off a beam and it slid on the metal frame it was on. dd fell off banged her arm on the metal frame on the way to the ground. so simple. so sad that it could have been a younger child as it was the 3-5 yr olds playground we were in. she was about knee high from the ground.

after the ambos came, when she was high as a kite she said "im never ever coming back to this place!!" and then "oh gosh mum is this going to cost lots of money? will we still have Christmas" and then " oh im so glad that was me and not **ds**" (he was on the metal frame at the other end waiting for his turn)

funny stuff here. that place had a great big wooden tree house around a huge tree with a slide and bridge and the kids just loved it. the new owners took it out because it "wasnt safe"

sharon- ill Pm you.

Greetings... a quickie from work as I'm baby-sitting my colleagues two patients while she is on her break (my patient died an hour after I started... so my night kinda freed up quite early :D ).

Been busy, busy, busy the past couple of days. DF took Friday off work purely out of celebration that we reached settlement on his unit (and suddenly his bank balance looked fab... can't spend the money though... damn !!). Anyways, we spent a rare day together and went shopping, went out for lunch and dinner etc.

This week, the oldest baby in my mothers group turned 1, so we went to our first 1st birthday party today (one of many, many to come over the next few months I'm sure :) ). I totally forgot how good fairy bread is. Kaelan was completely feral because he didn't have a proper morning sleep... so he screamed for the first half of the party... and then slept for the second half (in daddy's arms). We couldn't stay too long though because I had to come home to sleep so that I could work tonight.

Lauren and Mon - the photos look great !!

Ok.. gotta go, unfortunately I'm not getting paid to sit here and post on Bubhub... though it would be nice if I were.

Hi everyone,

Kay - poor DD, hope she is on the mend soon - that's kind of annoying to say the least.

Cute pictures Mon and Lauren!!

Sharon - it's a shame about Lily weaning but you have done an awesome job - well done :yelclap:

I've not been around much as I've been busy trying to pack and get organised. We leave at midnight tonight so hopefully the first flight of 8 hours will be fairly easy as it will obviously be through the night. We tried the Phenergan yesterday as a test dose and of course Eloise had the hyperactive reaction! We were at a party and she ended up bug eyed being passed around the table squealing and shouting. Sooooo, no drugs for her :hissy: I told DH I'm having the rest of the Phenergan and he can deal with her!!

Anyway, I will pop in whilst I'm away (with some pictures I'm sure).

Have a great trip Hannah! Hope Eloise (and yourselves) handle the long flight okay. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. The internet tends to close the distance quite well!

Good luck!

Hannah, by the time you read this you should have arrived. have a great trip and I look forward to catching up on your return.
Mon, how are you?
Lauren, Hi and How's Jack? Has his sleeping improved?
Shazza, Hello to you too. How was your weekend?
Kay, How is DD?
Kim, You're not crazy at all. I think Jake was about 9 or 10 months when I started to think about another one as well. We decided to wait till he was 18 months though.
Juzzy, Happy 10 months to Cassidy.
Penny, shame about your patient, but at least you had time to come onto BH. How are you feeling?

Have I missed anyone? If I have I'm sorry.

US, well ran errands yesterday and today was my father in laws consecration. So lots of family stuff today and I coped such a headache I thought I was going to be ill. I think it's from my neck and shoulders, I really need to book into that oesteo for treatment. If only I could find someone to mind the kids.

have a great night and I'll check in tommorrow.

Mandi - great photo of Lochlain with Santa.

Juz - Sorry I missed Cassidy's 10 month birthday! OMG the bubs are nearly 1 year old! I hope you're feeling better today.

It's very quiet in here today. I'm in a reasonable mood because I've succeeded in getting Liam down for 2 naps today in his cot :yelclap:. This is a major success for me as I've had trouble for ages getting Liam down for his 2nd nap and usually have to take him out in the pram. He slept for over an hour this morning which was great......the time flew by though as I was clearing up and wrapping pressies.

Lauren - I bought one of those Bonds easysuits for my sis and was thinking of getting some for Liam. They look pretty good. By the way, how did your vegie patties go?

Mummybunny - yes, you are crazy wanting another baby :devil6:Just kidding! Don't throw out the clothes in case you need them for another boy

Better get going.....have a good day ladies.....that's if anyone actually reads this today.......it's very quiet at the moment

I'm at the in-law's using their computer, so just a quick post from me.

Liam is refusing feeds at the moment. Last night he wouldn't take his last bf (before bed), so I thought I'd put him in bed and feed him when he woke up hungry. Well he slept right through the night without it. And today he has just refused his afternoon bf.

I'm only giving him 3 feeds a day, but now he is refusing one of them on most days. He is almost 11 months... is 2 feeds a day enough? He drinks diluted juice during the day and eats mountains of food.

Okay, gotta scoot. Later chaps.

How's your daughter holding up Kay? Sounds awful - fancy having a broken arm throughout summer, this means no beach l guess???

Shazza - Lily is gorgeous - you look absolutely stunning in the sexy mamma shot!!!

Sharon - how's the head going? I have had some problems with headaches lately caused from my neck and shoulders... it really isn't pleasant, l hope you were able to get some help - DH came home early yesterday cos my good shoulder was aching when l picked up Coen (don't even worry about the bad shoulder)... You don't realise how much you compensate with your strong body parts until something happens to them

Mon - cute pic's!!

Mandi - I hope you feel better soon - will you get a chance to have a bit of a rest??? Lauchlain is looking like a little boy now too...these bubs are just growing so quickly!!!

Jo - :yelclap: congratulations on the sleep success!!! How wonderful are the days where they just sleep like they are supposed to!!!

Us - We seem to just be getting busier and busier... how ever will l cope when l have to play mum and work as well???? I am getting really nervous about it... Coen has been really well (other than a little chucking episode we had yesterday - l think the eggs l gave him (mixed with cows milk and cheese) were a little rich for him)... he is still sleeping 3 times a day, solids 3 times and booby juice 4 times a day... he is really starting to get some attitude and to test the boundaries...
DH and l have had words a few times this past week or so... he thinks l am flying off the handle too often (and he's probably right) and l am wondering if we are two strangers cohabitating... we don't seem to be as affectionate as we used to be and l really miss it... you know just the little things, like when l am walking past sometimes he would grab me for a cuddle... it sounds silly... but l saw my parents marriage fail and l need our family to be more than just Coen... but about DH and l as well... anyway - we are both going to make an extra effort ...

I am really excited about Christmas... oh and here are some updated pics...

Great job on the sleeping Jo! It makes such a difference to your mood doesn't it?

Vegie patties turned into mini rissoles which ended up on the floor....will offer then again and see what happens.

He is almost 11 months... is 2 feeds a day enough? He drinks diluted juice during the day and eats mountains of food.

Same thing happening here Mon. You can't force him to drink so my only suggestion would be to add EBM or formula to his meals or make food out of them eg muffins made with formula. Have you tried formula in his sippy cup?

Jack's drinking well out of a straw now. I only have to get him to start liking formula

Lauren, Hi and How's Jack? Has his sleeping improved?

He's good Sharon - Were slowly getting there with his sleeping. Each week he improves a bit more. How did you go at the paediatrican?

Kim - Are you still clucky? What did your DF say?

US - Jack finally has his other bottom toothy :smiliedance:3 months after the other one came thru!! It broke thru this afternoon - which explains the hysterical screaming and no sleep. So that make 6 all together. I think his fangs up the top are about to come in too. Jack's saying 'nan' now. Also a lot of Do, Go and Bo....it's like he's trying to talk but only bits are coming out

Not much else doing here. Only have to get one more chrissy present. I got my bike on the weeeknd. We will get a seat for Jack soon so we can all go riding together.

The head is good today. DH gave me a quick fix massage so released some tension, so that was good.

You will find that your relationship changes due to having children. Busy!! LOL I'd love to be a little less busy. You'll probably find that returning to work will mean that you're more organised because you have to be somewhere at a certain time and you will have to get Coen organised as well as yourself.

Re the vegie patties, they say that it can sometimes take up to 10 times for them to actually like it.

The paediatrician is Wed at 11.30am.

Thank goodness for the tooth coming through, maybe you'll all get some more sleep.

Yesterday he had 3 sleeps totalling over 4 hours (Lauren - he slept till 4.45 yesterday so my wish came true)... and today... 1 x 30 min & 1 x 1 hour... the last week or so his midday sleep has been interrupted by a poo... normally he will wake up but fall asleep (in his poo) for another hour - 90 minutes... but today's... action was too horrid for him to sleep through ... but now he won't go down... he really doesn't look tired though...
but 3 1/2 hours.. c'mon munchkin l am not used to entertaining you for so long!

Gee how am l going to cope when he needs less sleep

Hi girlies... hope all are well :)

Kaelan is currently sitting at one of my pot drawers in my kitchen pulling out all the saucepans and frypans and banging them on the ground so it is very noisy in here at the moment (and if it keeps him occupied for five minutes while I quickly say hello here, then so be it).

Life has been hectic the past week... so much to do, so little time to do it in. I think I'll be happy when christmas is over then I might be able to relax a bit. My morning sickness has been quite severe since the weekend so I feel like utter cr@p and nothing I do now gets rid of it (other than maybe taking some Maxalon... so I might have to 'borrow' some from work on Friday night). I laid awake most of the night last night because I was extremely nauseous, so today I'm *really* tired. I tried having a nap today.. but you guessed it.. too nauseous again to sleep

I had my first ultrasound yesterday and I'm happy to report that the 'bub' is 1cm long with a strong heart rate of 122bpm. I also ended up seeing the baby again today at my first ante-natal appointment at the Mercy. I was inadvertently recruited for a large research study that they're conducting at the Mercy, so the research midwife wanted me to have a scan to confirm dates. Funnily enough, the Registrar who did the ultrasound today was the same doctor who physically pulled Kaelan out of my tummy when I had my caesar... and she remembered him (because he had a subgalael haematoma from birth trauma - very unusual for a caesar birth).

Anyways, as the doctors and midwives can't agree whether I'm due on the 2nd or 4th August.. we've decided to do a compromise and make the 3rd the official due date (apparently this is more accurate anyway, because 2008 is a leap year).. so at least I now have something to work towards.

I so want to to reply to everybody personally right now... but even just writing this has taken away all my energy. Hope you are well... and I promise to stop writing just about me soon :)

Hi mummas,

Just skimming posts while I have 2 seconds free... have been so busy with our visitors (gone now - phew time for a rest)

Bought a new pram today - an Emmaljunga, it's meant to be pretty darn good. Dh backed into the other one with my car a few weeks back and Connor is not enjoying his stroller, which for the huge amount of $$ we paid does not recline... so here's hoping this pram fixes all the problems.

Hello all, arrived in the "big smoke" around 7pm. Girls travelled well.

Penny, i may be stating the obvious but as i am alergic to Maxalon i had to try a heap of alternatives for morning sickness. I had stints in hospital on a drip both times, (like many others) Not saying many worked but with Elly the best was a regular visit (until we moved) to my chiro/bowen therapist.
I think i would be safe in saying you would be aware of all the ginger options. My doc put me on B6 however it made me worse. Took that out of the equation and with the Bowen i was pretty good.

Sandy: It seems that Coen may not be tired, i think from memory he was up for under three hours. You may find now that he will stretch out his awake times. An adjustment for you as well as him.
They really are adaptable to the circumstances of the day. I don't ditch the theory of regularity, a child will ALWAYS love familair and somewhat regular happenings, but be prepared to compromise.
What it will allow you to do is be somewhere, do something different yet when they are home they get what is going on.

Besides that, with Xmas and family and 40000 childrens Xmas parties, get your maps out girls.....looks like we are moving. J has a somewhat forced transfer upon hime. But i think i mentioned that B4.

OH...and HELLO LEASHIE..oooh new computer...can't wait to catch up.

An adjustment for you as well as him.Coen is usually like clockwork when we are home... about 2 hours of non-stop go go go... then he's ready to flake... when we are out its a totally different story - he can go 4 hours or more... who knows l think perhaps he's sleep patterns are about to change... he's almost 10 months... 3 sleeps a day is probably getting a bit much... in the end we will just do what works for him - and l will adjust... but l hope he works it out in the next few weeks so l can give some semblance of guidance to his sitters (when l go back to work)...

Penny, I hope the M/S settles down for you. Have you tired ginger or things with ginder in it? I used to sip water with fresh lemon in it and it did wonders not to mention keeping my fluids up. Great news that all is well with bubs at the moment. Here's parying that you have an uneventul pregnancy.
Sandy, their patterns change. Matthew and Ben's certainly have. Most days at the moment they are only having 1 sleep of about 3 hours, give or take.
mandi, how are you feeling? The eye teeth and molars are the worst. But some kids just breeze through the teeth cutting business. I wish mine did!!
Jo, great work getting Liam down for his daytime sleeps. It's a real pain when they don't sleep isn't it? Can't get anything done, not to mention that you and he are tired and have less patience.
Mon, how is Liam today? Is he feeding better?
Lauren, I'm sorry to hear that you're having a rough time with Jack and his teething. Have you tried a teething rusk that you put in the fridge? It's cold on the gums and it may stop him chomping on you.
mummasnugglepot, I'm on msn and happy to add you. PM me for details.
squiggles, yay on the new pram. I wish you well to use it. If only I would have known that you were hunting for a pram, you could have had mine. I have a Bertina with four wheel drive and I loved it. Can't use it now due to needing a twin one.

US, Well saw the paed with Matthew. He's heading towards becoming anaemic, so we need to put him back onto iron supplements. So will start those tommorrow. At least that explains why he's so tired all the time. She also suggested to give some to Ben as it will help him as well.

I'm baking some health flakes and am about to pop another lot in the oven and then I'll make the bottles for tommorrow and then make potato salad for tommorrow night.

I'll keep checking in here though till I go to bed.

I've had a crappolla day today. I decided to call the health nurse about Liam's breast feeding issues that have been going on for the past few days. She was such a cow. I actually cried when I hung up the phone. She made me feel so inadequate. And she wasn't that helpful either. She told me that I shouldn't be giving Liam any water as a baby can't digest it like adults can. And if I want to give him additional liquids it has to be formula. Plus, she said I'm not feeding him enough and he is probably malnourished. Biatch. Anyway, that was just the last thing to top of an already bad day.

Did a make-up swimming lesson today as we had a specialist appointment yesterday. This swimming teacher was an idiot. She loved to sing but not much swimming. Odd. The showers in the change room have only one tap, so you can't adjust the temp, and they were way too hot today. I couldn't get under it, let alone put a baby under it. So Liam and I had to go all chloriney for the rest of the day.

MIL asked if I'd help her shopping for one particular thing. Well, that turned into 4 hours. Don't start me on that one.

Builder was here (finally!) and did a bit of work while I was out. He was gone when I got home, but there was mess all over the floor. So I set up a playpen for Liam and threw the cat outside while I vacuumed and mopped the floors. In the meantime my cat suddenly appears and was taunting Liam through the bars and scratched him. Turns out the builder installed Astro's cat door and I hadn't realised. So Liam was screaming, cat was hissing, I'm trying to vacuum. Went to cook dinner and realised I left my meat for dinner in MIL's car. Ended up getting Hungry Jacks, and I went through the drive through wearing my pyjamas. Classy.

Oh well. Will start fresh tomorrow.

It's 1.15am and I should be in bed. Have been cutting out fabric to make some cushions for Christmas presents. Have finished two, and have cut out the other six. Will be busy sewing tomorrow night after the chat, and Friday night too me thinks.

Haven't had a chance to open SS present yet. Will do tomorrow morning. Yay!

But on the plus side, Liam got the all clear from the eye specialist... no more blocked tear duct! Also said he has perfectly aligned eyes, and no focus problems. DH and I both have squints, both wear glasses, and I've had two eye operations. I'll be surprised if Liam's eyes are perfect when he is older, but this is great news for now.

Mon, sounds like you've had a rough day. Hope tommorrow is a much better day.

Just a couple of things re Liam.

It's fine to give water. Ben and Matthew have been having water for ages, I just boil it. You don't even have to do formula if he wont take it. Keep trying the BFing and see what happens over the next couple of days. He could be teething. As long as he's eating and drinking and having wet nappies then don't stress too much.

Mine made me cry after our visit last Tuesday, I just don't think they realise the stress that we're under. You're doing a great job and listen to your gut, it's usually never wrong.

Great news about Liams eyes, and breaking a glass or two often means that good luck is coming your way.

Thanks for the stats Sharon... which reminds me, anybody else got 10 month stats... l won't be seeing my MCHN but l will try and do them at home...

Mon - :hugs: your MCHN is a BIATCH (and l don't care if l am yelling) - what a total cow!!! All other health professionals say give water... I'd complain about her - that's pretty serious misinformation - not to mention where is her COMPASSION???

Oh, and tonight DH knocked over a glass of water and smashed it. While we were cleaning it up I managed to knock over the other glass and smash it. Klutz.

Sorry Mon  but you crack me up - are you really that clumsy or are you just having a bad run of things at the moment????

I am sure it was anything but funny at the time.... Oh talk about getting caught unawares, the other day some friends said they would drop round at about 8pm... i totally forgot, because l had sat on a wet pillow (don't ask) my bum got all wet so l decided to get in my PJ's at 7pm... doorbell rings at 8... l hear them - holy sh!t... l raced into the spare bed room... normally there is only winter coats in there, but thank Christ there was a dress... l didn't have a bra on.. but the singlet l had on was okay... :o and to top it all off, cos l had forgotten, l had nothing and l mean nothing at all in the house to offer them... no biscuits - nothing!!! And they had bought us all these really nice gifts for Coen (its the first time we had seen them since Coen was born)!!!

PJ's through drive through is not uncommon at all - l used to be a macca's chick and l saw it all the time... now naked through drive - through - that is another story -- l saw a few of those as well!

Mon - as Sandy said what a total Biatch!!! it really annoys me that people who are the 'so called experts' would speak to someone seeking advice in such a manner. Connor has been having water for ages - since he was about 4 months old... initially to help with constipation. He drinks about 100mls per day. I used to boil it but now I just give him filtered water in his sippy cup and he happily drinks it no probs. Maybe Liam is weaning himself?? Perhaps his diet of solids is providing him enough nourishment & he might just need a small amount of fluid - be it breast milk or water? Hope you find an answer. On the smashing stuff -I managed to smash our coffee plunger which shattered into a million shards around where Connor was crawling... then a few hours later I smashed a bowl (while reaching over and trying to stop the ironing board from clocking Connor on the head!):hissy:

hi everyone

happy birthday Ben and  happy birthday Matthew
cant wait to hear about the fun the two birthday boys had.

Jen- Good thinking on the vax reminder  its such a busy time of year but also a tricky one that 12 month vax. i remember not wanting to take them for it too close to their brithday so they were not sick/temp/grumpy/sleepy/hospi on their first birthday. We were talking vaxs today.
We will have to seek advice about the 2,4&6 month shots being done again and 2 months apart or weather to just have the 6 month shots done ((hhhmm might ask in the vax section) im not sure how that works.

i got a lovely Christmas card and letter from ren today (oh reminds me thanks for the photocard of coen, sandy)
ren is doing well. boys are happy and well.

alicia- orange hair  pleooooase explaiiin

dd got a waterproof cast put on today. now she can hop in the pool on Christmas day so shes happy again so worth the cost (plasta is free, fibreglass is not) funky purple cast too.

Eli tood against the dinning room chair and let go, took hold when he thought he was going to fall and fell back taking the chair with him. he now has a jolly big blue bump on his head.

Ds is having nighmares . he thinks he will "get hurt, break all the bones and be in an ambo and in hospital and have lots of needles"

so not a lot of sleep happening in our house at the moment.

With the water thing- seriously-its fine. In fact- on an exclusively b/f bub who is eating solids- i would be more inclined to think water would be better than formula?
Does the idiot not realise that its damn hot atm? Babies need hydrating too!
Mon- do what YOU think is right
Maybe try some ebm in a sippy cup and see if he drinks that? Or make ice blocks out of ebm?
Just go to the supermarket and get those ice block things (plastic in a pack of four- kitchen utensils aisle- am i making sense?) and express some breast milk into and freeze? Just an idea:flowerz:

Wow - it must bring back memories of how tiny they were 12 months ago.

I didnt make chat as my internet went down again.

Mon - re: MHN - what an idiot. She thinks water is hard to digest - wtf? And what does she think is in fornula - powder and WATER!! It has taken me a couple of days to reply but i have just been getting madder and madder. I have had so many bad experiences with these professionals - it must be a really hard job to do well.
As for how many feeds a day Liam "should" have. really it is probably quite academic - cause he will exactly the no of feeds he wants and nothing will make him have more! Anyways i think dropping to 2 feeds at this age is not unusual. Lily is loving water now and downs it like a XXXX on a friday night. I probably wouldnt mix formula into his food if you want to continue breast feeding - it is a bit of a slippery slope as i found out the hard way.

I have had one of those boring days. Lily is beautiful and peaking in the cuteness but intellectually she is a big slow - she wont discuss quantum physics with me - hell she doesnt even understand play school.

Dh is home now for 2 weeks. So i have offically made it through the year!! Even though he has been working for a month he still hasnt been paid yet which is a bit annoying at this time of year.

Anyway i just wanted to say thanks for being there this year. It has been the hardest and happiest year of my life. I dont think i would be in such good shape without you all. Thankyou for helping me and being my friend. I hope in my own small way i have been able to do the same thing for you.

Thanks for the reassurance Tan. Liam's back to his regular feeds now... I think it was just a teething thing. He's also drinking more diluted juice now that I've switched to a different cup. Have gone with the pigeon magmag sipper. Liam has forgotten how to use the straw bit, and gets distracted by the flippy lid.

 OMG that cracked me up! Sometimes I talk to Liam about all kinds of things that must sound weird to a casual eavesdropper. I'm trying to teach him that CSI has many inaccuracies in it's scientific methodology. That they should balance the centrifuge before they use it, and that there is no such thing as the magical 'enhance' feature that they use to clear up all of the zoomed in images. And what are the lab technicians doing interviewing suspects??

Ok here is the story behind the hair.

My natural coulor is dark blond/light brown and over the yrs i'v dyed it darker and darker and it was dark red, i had enough of the horrible regrowth and went to the hair dressers and told them i want to go back to my natural coulor.
Anywho long storry short they had to bleach the dark out to get it light then put a light brown in and it went orange
Plus i have long hair that i LOVE and asked them to put layers in and she cut them really short. :(
So its all F&%ked up and there will be lots of pics in the days to come.

Because the bleach dryed my hair out i have to put treatments in for 3 weeks before they can coulor it again.
But at the same time it looks different
I'm hoping after a few washes it come good:fingerscrossed:
I've taken a pic so i will show u hen i can put pics on.

Anyway i'm off to bed i shall talk tomorrow

What about when they eat and drink in the lab? That was one of the first things we learnt not to do in Year 7 Science safety.

And the other one that bugs me... when they are hacking into a computer or showing someone else the results of something on the screen, they always use lots of keystrokes and typing. Why don't they ever use the mouse?

Okay, I could keep going forever here. Will stop now.

You're not being a nag at all. I actually have them booked in on the 27th for their 12 month immunisations. You know it's interesting because the only thing that really goes on actual age rather than corrected age is the immunisations.

I agree with Kay, I tend to do their immunisations when I know that they don't have anything coming up so that if they do have a reaction then it doesn't ruin their day.

Yes it does bring back lots of memories actually, some of them not so good. And yes I do remember how very small they were and I can also see how far they have come.

Us, well we had an uneventful day. Saw a girlfriend this morning and B and M slept from 12 till 3.30. Jake and I had a lovely afternoon during that time. Thinking about what to do with him next week.

Sharon - you lucky thing! Ben & Mathew sleeping over three hours :yelclap:. Happy birthday to them for the other day too.

Leashie - I've had bad hair experiences before......is it possible to put a toner over it in the meantime? I hope it comes good soon. At least the layers will grow. I'm the opposite. Got my hair done today and I'm happy with the cut & colour. It's got more blonde foils than usual.

Mon - I have no idea what you're talking about but then again I don't work in a lab. When I get the chance I will check you up on Facebook. A friend of mine had auburn hair and she gets some blonde foils done and it looks really nice.

We had fun at 4am last night. Both DH and I woke to some loud doomf, doomf, doomf........the guy across the road was playing his music really loud. DH got really ****ed off and walked over there and when he got back said the guys door was wide open and the guy was asleep sitting up on the couch, probably drunk. He banged on the door to wake the guy but no amount of banging would wake him up :banghead:. DH called the cops to see if they could do something but they said they can't . Anyway, it eventually stopped.......neighbours can be such a pain sometimes. I also worry about DH getting beaten up one day because he's not afraid to have a go if you know what I mean.

DH is currently trying to get Liam asleep for an afternoon nap but he's wasting his time I think. He slept for nearly two hours at lunch time today so that's a good thing!

Sandy - yes, the weather is horrible today.........the rain is good of course because we need it but my newly blowdried hair didn't need to get wet when I went out for fruit & veg.

I grew up watching A Country Practice and used to think to myself how cool nursing would be. Well, let me tell you... I should sue the producers of that show for misrepresenting the truth. I feel ripped off people !!!!

Well my lovely day out with the kids yesterday turned to sh!t when we woke up to pouring rain and thunderstorms- no picnic in the park or swimming for them.
We went to the shops (tooooooo stupid lOL) and had one last try for DD1 to sit down and have her pic taken with Santa.
Well, what an expensive exercise that was!
Let me add it up for you!
First lot of pics (where she would not be in the pic) $34.95
Second lot of pics where she would sit in $29.95.
BUT
she would only sit in on the pic if i bought her a pretty skirt! She bloody 2 years old and knows how to manipulate the situation! She bloody knew how desperately i wanted that photo.
Skirt- $29.95
:laughing::laughing:

Hope everyone has a great Christmas- we're all going away on Chrissy day so wont be online and not sure if i can get back on to do it closer as im working all day tomorrow!!

Merry Christmas to you all!!
Have a safe and happy New year!:tree::noel::xmas:

Good morning girls.

Please can somebody help me. I am still floundering in the dark when it comes to bottle feeds. I have asked before and no one answered.

How much formula milk does your baby have each day and what times? How much total am i aiming to get into her? HOw do you know how much to mix up each time - there seems to be so much waste involved.

She has started waking 2 times a night and i am not sure if it is hunger or habit....

hi sharon-
we noticed the waste too. I think when he was b/feeding he was taking little and often because at 9 months we couldnt get more than 150ml of formula into him. Its amazing that this child that refused bottles in the start and did more than one 9 hour stand off waiting to be b/fed, went from that to biting me and refusing to b/feed. even more so is the fact that he now has a dummy too! after trying for months to get him to suck on it!

now weve been doing formula for 6 weeks now and he still only takes 150ml through out the day. most mornings he wants more but we still mix it to 150ml and then give more if he wants it. we use karicare gold which mixes 1 scoop to 50ml.

We steam the bottles and teats and put the water in his bottles of a night and put them in the fridge.

In the morning straight after he wakes he has 150ml(6:30ish) if he knocks that off quickly and wants more then i make him another 100ml.

he will then eat b/fast and goes to sleep at 9-9:30

when he wakes from the morning sleep he has 150ml formula then lunch. The next sleep is 2-2:30pm for about an hour.

when he wakes from the afternoon sleep he has 150ml formula and snack. ( usually while at an after school activity) He eats dinner about 6-7pm and then has another 150ml bottle after his shower, right before bed.

that bottle is the only one given right before sleep time. It holds him over the whole night. We started with that night bottle quite a while ago to try to get him to sleep over night.

so 4 bottles of 150ml and an extra 50-80ml with the morning bottle.

I dont know how much milk is normal for this age, i dont know whats expected either. I dont care tho. If he wanted more he would tell us quick smart.

still no "milk" sign just a foghorn type alert that hes out of milk and wants more.

he did wave "byebye" yesterday.

THanks for that Kay. That is similar to lily in a lot of ways - she will only take about 150ml max. She often will take half the bottle and then the other half 30 mins later. Is this normal behaviour for a bottle feeder? Or maybe she is just used to coming back for the second side if she wants.

What about the size of the teat ? if it is too small could that mean she gets sick of sucking?

Al;so one more i just thought of - is the mini pill still an effective form of birth control when you are no longer breastfeeding??? I havent seen AF at all yet.

sharon- dp melted most of our bottles in the steamer.

I replaced the melted bottles with NUK and got the teat sizes for his age, 6-18months i think it was. we use the other bottles with smaller sized teats for water and the larger teats for formula.

Id say formula fed bubs would drink more at this age, still doesnt worry me. I think its different because theres a change over and not f/f from birth or soon after. Also different child to the next. I know he would show signs of needing more if he did.

i wouldnt have a clue about the mini pill. never used it. Dp is having the snip reversed in Feb 08 and he says id better get a script for the pill if we have another bub cos he isnt having *%$# played with again! not going to happen. Hed better get rubbers or a mini van

Riley has been a FF baby since 7-8 weeks, and now he only has a bottle when he is tired to help him go off to sleep, he will have one at
morning nap - 8.30 -9ish,
next - 2ish,
next- 4ish,
and last prob about 6-8ish.

in between he has breakfast, lunch and dinner, maybe some snacks not much but (he loves his food) and he has water or diluted juice during the day to keep him hydrated.

you will get the hang of it sooner or later. Good luck!!

so is everyone all ready for Christmas???
we finally are.
Hubby took me out and let me pick a hand bag that i wanted for Christmas, i have been dropping hints for pretty much the whole year lol so he finally said lets go get you a new hand bag, and he told me there was no limit on money lol so i tested him i picked out a $200 bag, (it was reduced to $125 thought lol) and said i like this one, he asked how much i told him and he was like ok then lets go pay, i was so shocked, when i said don't be silly i picked it up took it to the lady at the counter and bought it, i think i just sat there with a stoked look on my face the lady was like your a lucky girl lol damn straight i am lol.. i guess he just wanted to be nice with my bday on Christmas day and all..
And then today he let me sleep in till 9.45am while he got up and vacuumed and looked after Riley, i was that tired i didn't even hear him cleaning lol

so does anyone have plans over Christmas??
we are going to have a huge Christmas day, mum and dads early morning for Christmas presents, home for a nap, Levin's parents for lunch and Christmas/bday presents, then home quick to get organized and Riley bathed, then back to the in laws (because we just have to see everyone they having in there family ) then off to mum and dads for Christmas dinner and birthday presents and cake... oh well at least we don't have to cook haha

Riley is awake bbl!!

have a great day all..

Hey sharon Marissa has been FF since day one and has never been a big eater and never followed the are measurements on the tin.

She wakes about 7:30 has 150-200mls then breaky at 8:30,
sleep 9:30
Lunch 12
bottle 2:30
afternoon tea
dinner 5
bath
bottle 6:30
bed 7-7:30
+ about 4 50ml waters a day

so she has about 3 150ml bottles a day + approx 200mls of water a day (its needed here cause of the heat)

If your worried there is a number at the back of your red book that will help u.
Its called childs health line or something like that, The actual place is a sleep/feeding clinic called the riverton centre they are wonderful ppl there.
When Andrew was 7 weeks old he my Doctor sent me there for a week cause i had BAD PND and he would spew everytime he ate and they showed me every thing about feeding and settleing. Its on the north side but is wonderful, if your still having problems after xmas maybe go to your doctor and ask for a referal to see them, its well worth it.
If you want to know more about it let me know.

Any way in other news my bub is losing weight:confused: I'm thinking a growth spert and she is getting taller??? not sure but she went form a size 0 to a 1 in most things then back to an 0 and now she is fitting into 00 again, should i be worried??
I'm going to take her to the doctors in the new yr to see if everything is ok but do u think i should see someone sooner? she is eating more then usual but wont drink any more milk then what i said above and still seems to be losing wieght.
Hopefully its normal, she is really active!

Formula - As for amounts of formula.... I don't do it personally but l was talking to my cousin about it the other day - (Olivia is 6 weeks younger than Coen) and she said that 3 x 180-200 ml bottles is what her MCHN recommended to her... (it says the same thing in Baby Love BTW)....

What about the size of the teat ? if it is too small could that mean she gets sick of sucking?
Sharon - l use Avent teats, l had Coen using the no. 2 teat for his water... and EBM, he had no problems with it, but when l changed to a no. 4 teat for his water l noticed that he drank far more... he went from about 50ml of water per day to about 2-300ml (depending on the weather), l think he was getting sick of sucking for so little reward

Leashie - do you think Marissa is losing weight or getting taller and leaner... I know Coen always gets really fat before a growth spurt and then leans off.... but he doesn't lose weight so to speak... it just is more spread out ... Coen is still in 00, l have hardly any summer clothes in 00 cos l expected him to be in 0 or 1... oh well will just have to make do...

Kim - I'm glad your DP has decided to spoil you for your b'day - that's wonderful

Tanya - I guess the manipulation is something we have to look forward to ... Coen does it even now... will pretend to cry if he doesn't get his way... then figures out its not getting him anywhere and stops -- they learn quickly don't they??? (Cheeky little monkeys!!!)

Leashie i am not so worried about lilys feeds. It is just weird knowing exactly how much they drink when i have had no idea over the last 10 months.

As far as Marissa goes i know that when kids are active they often dont put on weight at this age BUT if she is losing weight then maybe she is not getting in enough calories for the amount she is doing. The kids are so busy being active that eating is just a distraction. Have you actually weighed her?

PMSL!!!

When lily drinks from the bottle she only sucks for about as long as she used to breast feed and when the teat comes out it is sucked flat. it is like her body tells her its full after she has had 100 sucks or something so she stops. then half an hour later she works out her tummy isnt full and then has the rest. i will go buy some bigger teats tomorrow.

That is about the amount lily is having in the day too. but she is waking at night a couple of times now. I think i will try a dream feed before i go to bed to make sure she is really full and then all other wake ups tonight are going to be resettling without milk!!
