Hi! New here, but you all seem pretty friendly. While discussing babies with my other half (children are important to both of us, and we both knew that if we didn't agree with the approximate number/child rearing it wasn't going to work), and we some how got on the topic of names. I swear I'm not obsessed, really.
Anyways, the problem we ran into was with girl names. We chose to give our parents' names as mn, which works out to be Carole and Lisa for girls. We then chose names which we liked and matched them up, only to realize that our hypothetical girls would get
Elizabeth Carole and Cora Lisa
Especially considering twins do run in the family (they practically gallop, in fact), are these names too similar? I want my children to have their own names, not feeling like they're part of a set. (Not to say anything against sib sets; for the most part they are really cute, just nms).

Meh, on the bright side, kids are too far into the future IMO :( Means I don't have to worry too much.

I think the names are individual enough! Besides you are always going to get ppl that call twin siblings just one name..........'twins'!

By the way welcome to Bub Hub, I noticed that this was your first post!:)

Hi, welcome to Bubhub! :)
I think they are both lovely names, and its not like they will use their middle names very often in real life, Im assuming they will just be known as 'Elizabeth' and 'Cora' which dont sound similiar at all,so i wouldnt worry to much (besides, you might get 2 boys, lol, which in that case, you definetly wont have to worry!)

Nope - they're not too similar at all...

I love traditional names like Elizabeth - I want my first daughter to be Victoria. But then you have your shortening bizzo too...

I want it to be shortened to Tori, as a nickname... My only beef is that Victoria can be shortened to 'Vicki' as well - and I'm not overly fond of that name too...

Elizabeth can become Liz, Lizzy, Elle, Ellie, Beth... Do you like all those names too?

Just food for thought.

I can see where you see the similarities, but just remember, not everyone is going to know their middle name! Elizabeth and Cora are great names :) :)
Welcome to bubhub :D

Most people won't know their middle names so i dont think the names are too similar coz they will be known by their first names! i think the names you have chosen are great! :D

First off, thanks for the welcome. :D I'm so glad we're not as crazy as people led me to believe; I had a couple of people look at me oddly, which was why I had to ask. Nothing like ridiculous insecurity to make a girl happy, is there?

And as for nicknames, we're pretty open about them and know that Elizabeth will inevitably be shortened to whatever seems to suit her. Cora always has the fallback of Cor or Cori if she doesn't "suit" the name, so neither name is too bad in that respect.

And as for Victoria being shorted to Vickie, you can kindly redirect family when she's young towards "Tori". If you can get your family to do it when she's a baby, you shouldn't have too many problems. My mom had that problem for awhile when I was first born; people insisted on Mandy (which I hate), and my mom would just say "Her name is Amanda, and we really don't like that name" or some such thing. Then she ignored them, but always made a point of addressing me as Amanda. It worked with little trouble. Obviously, just go with "We prefer Tori", then be insistent.

I never said my family had tact
