has anyone suffered with fingernail infections????

mine isnt exactaly an in fection but it looks like it is. i accidentally grated my nail and ripped a third of it off the nail bed, it looks so gross, im not sure if i will ever go back to normal, still hurts to.
my ex partner had a nail infection of some sort on his thumb.... the nail literally fell off the thumb was all FAT and puffy and full of puss... eventually it went away but i thought the nail would never grow back because it healed but there was no nail... just soft skin... but eventually the soft skin grew into hard skin and it grew back again after months and months... i dont know how he got the infection but it was sooooooo gross ! :eek:
