Nuchal anyone?

Hi:wave: are we all having the nuchal translucency scan? I am a bit confused about it. Can we get a referral off our GP or do we need to see our OB for that? To be honest Im not sure I realy want to see an OB. I have an appointment with him in january I will be almost 10 weeks then.
But Im thinking about going to one of the public hospitals and hiring my own midwife or doula..do they do Nuchals at the public hospitals?
I just really want to see bub more than anything:goodvibes:

Yes, Im having one. I was told between 11-13 weeks is the best time to have one. Mine is due mid Decemeber.

You can get a referral from your local GP for one. I am as I dont see my Middie until after that.

I think the public hospital system waiting list would be fairly long and used only for emergency scans?

I guess so LOL! I never had this sort of thing with DS. Im seeing my GP this wednesday so I'll ask him what it all entails :)

We'll be getting one. I guess I'll find out at my first appointment with my ob on monday when and where that will be happening. I think you are supposed to get a blood test with it?

Hi, im having one, the blood test is just after 10 wks and the scan is 12 wks for me, they send both results to the same place and do dna kind of stuff from what i can understand! hope this helps;)

You can get your referral from either, I was going public with ds until I was around 23 weeks so i know this for sure.

generally you keep seeing your dr until about 20weeks and then you start going to the antenatal clinic at the hospital (well that is how it worked back then)
