Just wanted to know if anyone has experienced this.
I read the topic (pelvic pain) that caitlin's mum posted. & it sounds like how I started feeling. I have just spent the past 4 days in hospital and now have to use a walking frame to get around.
Caitlin's mum and all those who replied to her topic, I hope you read this as the pain you feel now can get alot worse if you don't be careful.(not trying to scare you)
I have been told what has happened is my pevis has dropped out of alignment. I have been making it worse because I started to limp as this made the pain a bit less but actualy made the problem worse. I now have to use the walker until I have bub & maybe for a short time after.
Please if any of you ladies are having pain in the pelvic or hip area, see a phisio so you don't do any more damage.
Take care, and all the best with your pregnancies. :)

I have to wear the brace as well. I'm amazed at how well it works.
Have been abit naughty 2day. I was feeling a little better so when I made a cuppa I wasn't using my walking frame for the 3 steps to the fridge for milk. Huge mistake!! I feel like I've gone back to square one. My phisio would not be happy  I will now use the frame even on the smallest of trips.

Hi all
just wanted to know a bit more about this. Long weekend so can't go to doc's. I have had severe pain in my groin area, it is really bad in bed after sleep and god it hurts when I get out of bed. It feels as if everything is about to fall out!!!!! Then it is very painful throughout the day, I have just moved house and I have a nearly 15 mnth old who still crawls so I am constantly lifting her all day? Does this sound like what you have? Im 27wks and its been getting worse over the last 2 weeks any thoughts would be great, its a long wait for the doctor.

angelbaby, i think you should ask to see the physios, sounds as if the brace might help you, or if it is something else you want to get that checked too

angelbaby, Sounds exactly how it started for me. Don't want to scare you, it could be something else. But do get it checked asap. There is no dirrect harm to your baby, but the pain can get alot worse. I fyou do go to your doc, DON'T let them just brush it to the side. They might try and tell you its all a normal part of pregnancy, but severe pain is not. If you can't get to see someone soon go and buy some wide elastic and so some velcro on either end, then wear this as a belt just below your hips. I hope that will help.

Thanks mummyof2+1, I did get to a doc not my normal and he brushed me off and told me to come back in a couple of days as it should go away!! I told him I had already had it for some time he said he thinks its ligaments, I've had one already and this is a bit different from ligaments stretching. I'm going for second opinion, I guess being male he really isn't in a position to tell me he thinks that it is ligaments.
Anyway just in pain and I want it to stop!! ;)

Angelbaby, I thought they would try and brush it off.(typical)
What I have started from symphis pubis disfunction which has to do with ligaments. There is a topic on this in general chat Have a look it might explain things abit better for you & I have written more about my experience there.
For the last few days I have been in so much pain. Have even wet myself a couple of times because I couldn't get up due to the pain. Last night it became unberable and I rang the hospital. Big waste of time. They said to go to bed and stay there. This does not help at all!!
I saw my doctor 2day & she took one look at me and rang the hospital. She basicaly got the same response as me. She wanted them to induce me, but they refused as they said I'm only 33weeks & it is too early. My doctor is so mad. My doc has put me on Panadine Forte(8 tablets a day) & said she will make them induce me in 2weeks time. At least there is an end in sight. It's amazing how much it helps knowing this.
I'm not sure how I'll get through the next 2weeks though.
Just wondering now how the panadine will affect bub. It makes me sleepy, which is good as I've only had about 2hours of sleep in the past 2 days due to the pain, but will it also make bub sleepy? Will it effect bub in any other way? * tablets a day seams like alot but if it won't hurt bub I'll be glad to take them. I only hope they work.(they haven't helped yet)

ive been experiencing this pain since week 24 and now am 36 weeks pg.
I saw the physio at the hospital, she gave me a few exercises to do which actually hurt me, told me to buy a support belt, which helps a bit and to sleep with a pillow between my legs and to not walk too much or put too much pressure on the area.
Overall i thought it was a waste of time, i couldve told myself all of that and she didnt take it seriously. I didnt bother going back again so have just been taking things very very easy....
horrible isnt it though?
Ive heard its called symphis pubis dysfunction.
Apparently as its caused by overproduction of relaxin our labours and births will be quicker and easier as everything down there is relaxed and wont take as long as others :D so thats one positive!!!

Hey, Mumof2+1:
Just a quick note, I was on about that dosage (2 tablets every 4 hours daily) for about a week after an operation, and I became addicted! If the doc thinks they are safe for bub then that is probably cool, but I have not been able to take Codeine (sp?) for 6 years now without going on a freaky weird high which is not fun!
Worth looking in to because the withdrawels sucked big time, so is there a possibility bub could get addicted too? It is the Codiene that you get hooked on, so there may be alternative pain medication without this, not sure.
Not trying to scare you here or anything, I am pretty sure your doc would know all about this and have made an informed descision when prescribing, but worth checking out :)

BlueGin,
That's exactly what I've been worried about. My doctor said the chances of both me & bub getting addicted are quite high but as I'm in so much pain & the hospital have given no other options, it's all my doc can do to help me with the pain. Before I fell pregnant, I was on Tramal 100 for my back pain as I have disc desease, arthritis & 2 curvatures of the spine. Tramal doesn't have the same addictive qualities but you can't take it when pregnant because there hasn't been enough tests done to see if it can cause birth deffects or not.
Either way, I haven't been taking the 8 tabs a day. I personaly feel it's to risky & it makes me feel like I'm realy drunk.
I have an app at the hospital 2morrow & have a social worker coming in with me to help plead my case & hopefuly I'll be induced in the next 2 weeks.

I know there have been a few threads on this, but I am just wondering how long peoples pelvic pain has lasted. My ds is now over 5 months, and it's still bothering me. I can't walk more than 10 minutes without pain. I have done enough pelvic floor exercises to last a lifetime with no result. I'm stacking on the kilos because I can't exercise, and I'm getting totally fed up with it.
I thought I'd try a long walk the other day to see if I could 'walk through the pain', but I've been aching badly ever since.
Any suggestions?

My dd is now 2 1/2 years old. I had a fantastic pregnancy with her, but upon delivery SPD kicked in and I spent the following 3 weeks on crutches. I still suffer now with some pelvic pain but have found myself a decent osteopath which has been fantastic and since being treated by her I would rate the pain 2/10 compared to 7-8/10 some 2-3 months ago. The pain for me wasn't all the time but when it occurred it was pretty bad.
I am planning #2 in the next couple of months and am hoping that it wont happen again. In preparation I have a women's health osteo and pyhsio that I see more than once a month to help get my body ready. I am totally paranoid about it happening again. Does anyone have an success stories with not suffering with SPD in subsequent pg's ?
thanks

I too have been experiencing pelvic pain since i was about 20 weeks pregnant and am now 26 weeks.
Family and friends that have had children said that during 2nd pregnancies etc you feel the pains from your body stretching and the ligaments stretching more than your first pregnancy and that it would settle down. So i just dealt with it but the pain just got worse and sometimes I would wake up during the night needing to go to the toilet and have to roll out of bed from the position i was laying in as it was too painful to just get straight up out of bed. I spoke to my OB at my 24 week check up and yes you guessed it he told me that it was normal and to just take paracetamol for the pain but he did say that if the pain got to unbearable that he could put me on pain tablets or refer me to a physio to have a support belt fitted or he could admit to hospital till i had the baby. That week I it did feel like the pain was starting to settle till the next day when i went on a shopping spree for about 2.5 hours and by time i got home i couldn't move due to being in so much pain. Now that i know that im not the only one suffering from this kind of pain and that its not all in my head i will making an appointment to see my OB and wont be leaving until something is done to help me as im losing too much sleep from being in constant pain of a night time.

My bub is now 14weeks old and I still have problems from time to time. Mostly when I go to turn or walk on uneven ground. Mum_2b please do not leave your OB's office untill something is done. You don't want to end up like I was, on a walking frame Ect.. Get a belt fitted asap as it helps to stop you doing too much damage. Unfortunately for me I was given one too late and it didn't help much. I had natural births with my first 2 and really wanted the same for this one, but because of the severe pain I had I was given the chioce to either have an epidural or c-section. I choose the epidural. I am still a little dissapionted.
All the best darl, and Good luck.
If you want more indepth info or just a chat, you can PM me anytime, but I will be away for a week from tomorrow because my sister is due anytime now and I'm going in with her. Will reply when I get back.

:D I'm healed! I found a great chiropractor who specialises in pelvic displacia in pregnant women. Hooray hooray. I was really scared about seeing a chiro, but he has worked miracles.
My spine was out of alignment, and it was twisting my pelvis. A few crunches, over a month or two and now there's no pain! I wish I'd found him when I was pregnant. I can now walk again.
If anyone in Melbourne wants his name, just let me know.
(I was told to rest in bed - ha, I couldn't even get into bed without crying with pain, and I saw a physio....... useless. I understand now that because I was structurally out of alignment, all the physio in the world wouldn't have helped. Now that the bones are right I can work on the muscles). :)

Well I went to my GP on Thursday as I had rung the hospital and they told that it sounded like ligament pain and that i would fine in a few days (yeah right) so I went to my GP.
He gave me a letter to take to the hospital so i could see an OB. And thank goodness I was listened to this time. I have been diagnosed with symphasis pubis disfunction and have an appointment with the physio on monday to have a brace fitted and to also have some physio.
My advice to all mothers to be not matter what the symptoms are that you are feeling do not leave your GP or OB's office until you are 100% happy with there diagnosis.

I was just wanting to know what kind of support garments any mothers to be have been given to wear who are suffering from Symphasis Pubis Dysfunction.
I have been given a support garment by the physio but it is more like a giant knee guard and even though it is helping it just doesnt seem to be giving me the support i expected it too.
