I just thought it might be a good idea to start a new thread where we can share advice, any hints and tips those who have been through pregnancy, labour and all that comes afterwards before learnt with others who are seeking some help and info. Also, anyone with any questions can ask away. This way nothing will be missed, seeing as our May Babies thread moves so quickly!

I'll go first - my first tip - which I wish someone had told me, and in hindsight, I really should have thought of () if you're using strectch mark cream/oil now to prevent getting stretch marks - don't forget to use it on your boobies  I mean, obviously, they get bigger, but did I even stop to consider that ? :( Der Rebecca. So, yeah, my useful tip for today is don't forget the (.)_(.)s :D

Not much to report at this end.. although i do have a 6 month old so its clear in my mind still and people wonder why i would do it again...

Just 1 thing... i was so scared of labour i was only ever going to have 1 bub...

I only had Gas and pethadine.... perfect i didnt need any thing else......

Once it was over i thought that wasnt as bad as what i was dredding.. with help of the drugs..

Kayla, I used the Palmer's stretch mark stuff first time around. This time around I'm not as diligent as I should be - but I'm using both the bio oil and the Palmer's when I remember to put anything on!

I wasn't scared about labour either. I figured the baby had to come out one way or another so there was no point getting myself too scared and worked up over it. I was more worried about what I'd do when I brought the baby home. How I'd bath him without hurting him. How I'd change him with breaking him. Little things like that :o

I think not being worried about labour helped. I had a completely drug free, natural labour, so we're hoping for the same thing second time around. :fingerscrossed::goodvibes:

I've got blue viens on my boobies, and my thighs.

My biggest tip is have everthing you think you'll need even the stuff you think you don't. I had to go running around trying to find things such as
Nipple Shields
Breast pump (manual attachment and the machine)
Breast pads
Different shape teats for bottles
A steam Sterilizer
Jumpsuits that fit
And nappies that fit
And probably the most important just in case: Formula!

Even if you're breast feeding it's good to have one in the cupboard. The last thing you want is to have to rush off to get one in the middle of the night for what ever reason.

Because we are with the private hospital they send us a list i will post it later...

I never had an epi as you cant go to the toilet i didnt like that idea of not moving standing helps bub along more... and too be honest with you i didnt need it at all. i asked for it but i was about to deliver they said.. i slept on and off through half of the labour.. due to the pethedine... if you dont like the whole you feel really drunk feeling.. lay off the gas, they took it off me as i was just breathing it rather then in between contractions. I fell alsleep

I get induced so all happens in the hospital any way.... When they put the drip in because of my blood thining needles, blood went every where all over my ob down the floor all over the bed.. the midwife was worried and i was laughing.. as i take needles every day...

Ooh yeah i can't wait to see the list! that will be handy! especially as i haven't even started buying ANYTHING yet!! :(

Kayangel: i was worried about stretch marks too, and was using Bio Oil, i think it's meant to be pretty good, but it's hard to tell! haha
I went to a health food shop and she suggested Almond Oil, so i've got some of that and it feels really lovely. I much prefer using a natural oil compared to a cream... just feels much smoother! Don't know if it'll work, but i hope so!

Hi All,

Great to hear from some people who are due at the same time. Still feels really early in the pregnancy but the changes are all there.

I am having major probs with nasal congestion. I have it 24/7, and I can't sleep if I can't breathe through my nose so its driving me insane. Chemist said the sea salt variety of nasal sprays are only recommended in pregnancy however I have tried these and they offer no relief. Anyone heard of any better options?????

Loving the tips about stretch marks, my boobs are growing at a ridiculous rate and I'm starting to worry that I'll be covered in the purple lines before I hit six months......

Hospital list from the hospital ignore the night out clothes if you are public.. unless your hospital does this.. they look after bub for the night so you and your partner get a night as you wont for how ever long .....

I didnt do this we have only left sienna once in the 7 months she has been here...

I had lots of problems breastfeeding to the point my nipples were bleeding. I didn't want DD anywhere near me after that. I would probably recommend getting some nipple cream sold at the chemist.

The other thing they say about stretch marks is no matter what you use if your body is the destined to get them you can't avoid it. I used the Body Shops coconut cream all over my tummy and sorbelene cream in the shower on my nipples. I don't have any stretch markes but who knows.

Bel1978 - What hospital are you going to? I think we might be going to the same one or in the same vicinity.

MJ, you're best off calling the imaging centre and seeing what they offer. Mine does offer DVD's as standard but that's only a thing they have started in the past couple of years.

I think it's up to the centre as to what they include.

Good Luck!!:goodvibes:
