Am I a bad mum?

My DD is now obsessed with watching the Wiggles! I started playing it when I was feeding her in the high chair as it was the ONLY way I could get her to eat. When the Wiggles are on she will happily eat whatever I give her. Before this, she hated being in her high chair and ate pretty much nothing. She laughs and claps her hands while they're on and I love the fact that she's finally eating a decent amount.

The problem is, I'm scared I'm creating a habit. I'm worried she'll only eat if the Wiggles are on. Also, when she's going a bit nuts at the end of the day, I tend to put them on so she'll sit there and calm down. It also helps if I really need to get something done or make a phone call. I make sure we get out of the house alot but sometimes I just feel guilty for playing them so much.

Anyone else use the Wiggles as a mini-babysitter?

OMG I can so relate to you. My DD is 16 months now and the Wiggles are our best friend!! At the moment it is the only way we can get her to sit still to change her nappy or get her dressed. But she also just loves them so much. Murray is her fave and she kisses pictures of him!

I do have some days though where I am just so sick to death of the songs but she absolutely loves it.

There are definitely a lot worse things they could be watching and the Wiggles are very educational so I wouldnt be worrying too much. Im sure it is just a passing phase

I have a Wiggles obsessed child also & unfortunately i dont think they can OD otherwise he would have ages ago ... Wouldve been nice to have him in rehab cause i would get a break from them then :hair:

Admittedly this is the only way i get 15mins to myself cause i then get harassed to dance with him lol but as much as i said i would never do it i do ! Sometimes its the only thing that saves my sanity.

That's exactly what I do - only with a Playschool DVD. I've read it's not great to feed while watching TV - some link to obesity down the track. I'm trying not to let that play on my mind, as it's really helped me survive year 1.

DD loves the wiggles. I cant get her to do anything when its on. I only let her watch it once a day and thats for the 30min show thats on Austar. If she could she would watch them all day. She can even say wiggles now :) which is cute in a way. But it is good when i need a min to rest being pregnant and she has worn me out. But at least the wiggles are fairly educational. DD has learnt a few new things from them, so its better then some of the silly shows on tv these days.

Yep my 22 month old DD LOVES Wiggles, Hi-5 and Playschool but I don't put them on as much now since the weather is warming up I prefer her to go outside and play in her Cubby house, I too worry that she's watching too much TV. She ask for them maybe once a day coz I think she just wants to copy the dance moves (she loves to dance and sing ).

BTW is any1 going to the Wiggles concert in December (in Melbourne)? My hubby's taking our DD, I have to stay home with DD #2 (still too young to go....7 weeks old).
I hope she'll enjoy it, this will be her first concert :fingerscrossed:

Yup, me

The Wiggles are the only thing on earth that will stop Sarah dead in her tracks, regardless of what she's doing or where she's running to.

I use the Wiggles to get her to eat if she's being fussy, I use the Wiggles if I need her to sit still so I can do her hair properly. I use the Wiggles if I need her to be quiet for 5 minutes while I'm on the phone.

I LOVE those men, they have saved my sanity 1000 times over in the past year :yelclap:

Go the Wiggles!!

God bless The Wiggles!! Same as Faeml said - I use them to do DD's hair especially! She asks for them all the time. Every time the tv goes on she plonks herself on the couch and says "Wigs?". We also have a CD with an assortment of ABC kids songs on it - if one comes on that isn't the Wiggles god help us! She stops and demands a Wiggles song! DD has a strange attraction for Captain Feathersword......Ca Ca as she calls him.
