If a HPT can detect 25 HCG and you see a faint line, does that mean that you have at least 25 hcg in your blood?

OR if it is a strong line does THAT mean you have at least 25 in your blood???

Sorry if it is confusing.....

Today I had a faint faint line, so i am wondering, does that mean i have at least 25 in my blood or only 5??!!

Afternoon Singa,

I think you should buy a more sensitive test. You may just have tested too early and it is only a faint line because your HCG hasn't risen quite enough yet.

I think you need to test with FMU tomorrow on a sensitive test. PLease try not to stress til you know whats happening. I know its easy for me to say.... But please try :fingerscrossed: its nice and sticky

im not sure but a line means ur preg, even if it is faint

A test that detects 25miu detects a minimum (not maximum) amount of 25miu - therefore, even the faintest line means there is at least 25miu.

The reason why is asked is because:
Yesterday I had faint but more clear BFP with Discover
Today I had Very Very faint BFP with crystal clear (also my temp dropped a little so I am worried AF will show up).

This happend to me in Sep as well with lullaby conceptions, I had faint BFP then AF 2 days later.

I might get a blood test tonight and hopefully there is some hcg still in my system

Remember too that the strength of the line is variable on how diluted your urine is - even if its FMU - if you drank more yesterday before bed than you did the day before then your urine could be imperceptibly more diluted and therefore the line be lighter.

Hey Singa,

Just to let you know, for me I did a test 12dpo with Discover and got a clear but feint second line, I was surprised because that morning my temp had dropped, so really didn't expect to see it. 2 days later I tested again with the same brand and got a much stronger line. Another 2 days later I tested with a less sensitive First Response strip test and got a slightly lighter second line, but it was still quite strong. Now I am 4 weeks and 6 days and so far so good.

Well I had a faint positive on the 19th of november(first response), the company said the brand I used picks up 25 yet when i had a blood test on the 20th it was under 25. close to, but definately under 25. crystal clear are stilll giving me very faint positives and my hcg is at 558! first response were the best followed by pregnosis and discover both equal.(and I used these both with first and about 4th wee of the day lol) good luck :)

Singa!!!! Congratulations firstly, i have just read your ttc diary and now this! It's great, i hope the blood test comes back with positive news for you.:fingerscrossed:
My sister recently found out she was pregnant and had all the symptoms, but when she had the blood test done it was only 25, so she must have been early on i think, but to have thoses symptoms so early is very strange. She is about 12 weeks now i think, she still has to have an ultrasound to check her dates.

Well i just wanted to say i hope it all works out and try and stay positive!
