Hi there!

Just wondering if I should be concerned or not.... My 8mth ds is constantly rolling onto his belly in his sleep. He seems to be more content to sleep this way than on his back as he has always done up until now.

Should I roll him back over or will he be okay to sleep on his belly at this age. I just find that as soon as I roll him over, he "flips" again by the next time I check him... I don't want to have to keep checking him throughout the night.

I know that they say babies should sleep on their backs, but up to what age?

Appreciate it if anyone has any info or suggestions on this. What did you guys do when this starting happening and at what ages did your bubs start this?

hey :)

umm I know it is against the rules, :shame: .. but my DS has been a tummy sleeper since about 5 weeks of age.. he HATES being on his back.. and only tolerates it for a short time each day ..

I do worry about him (mummy paranoia) ... and I USE to flip him over once he was asleep- but I found that it just disturbed him... now that I leave him alone he sleeps beautifully (touch wood  ) from 8pm till 6am... and has since he was 5 weeks old (when I let him go on his tummy)

I know that we are advised to sleep them on their backs... but every baby is different.. and if you bubs rolls over and prefers that way ... I personally would just let it be...

( I would still follow all the other SIDS advice though... just to be cautious)

:hugs:

My bubba kept rolling onto her tummy no matter how many times I tried to turn her over!
I think the important thing is that there's no loose bedding and nothing obstructing their face.
Some babies are just tummy sleepers!

Once they are six months they say to leave them sleep however they put themselves. As long as your bub can roll on his own and lift his head up when he is on his belly then it is ok.

Both of my girls became happy tummy sleepers within days of learning to roll over!!

Thanks guys... This makes me feel much better! I too find that I disturb him when I roll him over so I think it best that I leave him from now on.

He can lift his head fine and even searches for his dummy and puts it in his own mouth whilst still asleep so I don't think I've got too much to worry about... But you know how it is, mummy worries:laughing:
