CLEANING - How often?

Just wondering how often you guys clean. ie Mop, Vacuum, Dust, Sweep, Bathroom, Toilet etc

Not a thread for judging, i'm just curious is all :smiliedance:

I vacuum, mop and dust usually fortnightly, but try to do it weekly. I sweep the floors in the living area every night before bed though, and spot mop when necessary.

I clean the bathroom once a week, and the toilets every few days. I'll also wipe over benchtops, mirrors and the sink every few days too.

Every night before bed I take 15mins to run around the house and pick up all stuff that's out of place and put it in a laundry basket, then I sort through that stuff the next day when I get a chance. I also make sure the kitchen is clean before I go to bed, the dishwasher cleaned and emptied - it just means that when I get up in the morning I feel like I'm ahead, and don't feel weighed down by housework. I also do all my washing at night and hang it out, then take it in the next evening when DH gets home, just before it gets cold.

Vacuming - We have floorboards so the main living area and kitchen get done every second day, but the rest of the house once a week
Mopping - weekly, sometimes the kitchen gets done twice
Bathroom&toilet - weekly, sometimes the bath gets done twice
Dusting - I do it with the vac so whenever that comes out
Change linen/towells -weekly

Everything else just gets done on a day to day basis as needed. Like elissas, I like to get up to a clean kitchen and tidy house! My stove, kitchen benches and sink get doen every night after the dishes. I have no set time to do my washing, there always seems to be load on anyway!! I hope I havn't forgetten anything:o

Well i don't do the cleaning...but every thing is done everyday bar the vacuuming and mopping:thumbsup:

I do two big cleans once every Monday so i vacuum through downstairs, mop, dust, toilets & kitchen cupboards this then gets repeated on a Friday. I find it best this way as the weekends get so hectic with my partner home & its then clean for visitors either on weekends or weekdays ! Upstairs tends to get less love as it only needs a vacuum once a week as they are only our bedrooms & bathroom.
Otherwise every nite before bed i tidy up downstairs & wash up. I hate washing up so sometimes i just leave it till the morning when im not in the mood as it can be easier after bubs has had his brekky i can wash up while he plays before his morning snooze as he loves free play.
We now have new floating floors which are way easier to keep clean than the dodgey floor boards we had previously ! Love them ! :smiliedance:
I wash every second day but sometimes more & i wash all sheets & towels on a Friday unless we are doing more work on the house then its on a Monday.
Oh & all of bubs stuff like highchair, playmats etc get wiped over & cleaned every nite also.

Pretty much I just love a clean house and so everything has to be just right everyday.

Mop - weekly but twice a week for the kitchen.
Vacuum/Dust - weekly but usually twice for the kitchen and high traffic areas - I dust with the vacuum cleaner!!
Bathroom - Once a week but I will give the toilet a quick once over in between cleans if it is looking particularly grubby.
Kitchen - Daily - I clean it every night after I do the dishes - stove top and all, the oven usually gets done once a month or so as it really only gets used once a week for a roast (not that much in summer though).
I change beds weekly and towels when they need it.
I wash clothes when the machine gets full - we chuck all our clothes in it so when it is full I wash them which is usually about every 3rd day, except DP's work clothes which get done once a week on their own and of course sheets and towels!!

The answer for me is not often enough. The house tends to be clean but untidy with toys scattered around the place. I am always falling over something:o

I guess I mostly clean once a week but DH cleans the kitchen and he does all the laundry. He even cleaned and wiped out the fridge for me today:D

Oh I forgot - I clean the fridge every week when I unpack the groceries - i take everything out, clean it, chuck out anything that is a bit iffy and repack it!! That is the one thing I am anal about!!

I also tidy the loungeroom every night after the girls are in bed so we can walk through it without injury - but it just gets trashed again within 10 minutes of them being out of bed - I love it :yelclap:

I do a big clean ie, vac, dust,clean bathrooms weekly. Other than that I am washing everyday, kitchen gets cleaned as soon as I have finished in it. I keep everything in its place and I clean and tidy as I go. Olivia has her own playroom, so I don't need to tidy up after her in any other part of the house ( yet, she is only 6 months).
I like my house clean and tidy all the time, I feel far more relaxed this way. Although there seems to be more tidying to do when dh is home. :banghead:

Please don't anyone say, " because he knows I will do it for him", because that is exactly why. He sees all the work I do around the house and then makes more mess for me.:mad:

My house needs cleaning every day!! Mopping, vacuuming, everything! I think its becasue the house is fairly old and we live amongst the gumtrees and our dog is often inside GRRR:mad:

Know what it's like with a shedding dog. We just gave our rottweiller ( spelt wrong I know) away :crying: my floors stay clean for so long now.

Bin night is fridge night in our house. I clean out the fridge just before the bins are put out. :)

I agree re DH making the most mess. He finds the littlest of things to notice, then leave jocks hanging on the ensuite door handle, and wrappers from all his snacks at his desk (chips, choc etc). And I have to do a hunt for glasses every night before I run the dishwasher... :banghead:

OMG, I'm reading your replies and man I feel so dirty! Lol!

I 'tidy up' every day, but sometimes not everything. Washing gets done once per week, sometimes more often if I get a chance. As for vacuuming, mopping and dusting? Well, I'll be the first to admit it, it gets done about once a month, sooner if I get a chance.....ewwww! BUT I'm sure once our baby moves around on the floor it will be done more often, right?! LMAO! :laughing:

I can't believe that people (and not my DD's) can actually manage to spill, not leaky bottles, but actually spill drinks (with lids on bottles) in the fridge and not wipe it up!!

I also clean out the pantry about every 2 weeks but that is more a case of moving things around and wiping shelves!!

Kitchen- I clean it twice a day, df works afternoon shift so i cook dinner during the day so i usually clean up then and wipe down the benches and at night once the kids are in bed i clean up the dinner dishes and put a load into the dishwasher and clean the counters and the stove.

Mopping- once a week, if we have visitors or df is home it's twice a week.

Vacuuming- same as mopping i always vacuum first, we have tiles downstairs and carpet upstairs.

Washing- usually about twice a week, depends really how much there is lol

Bathroom- twice a week

Toilet- once a week, i wipe it down every day as ds tends to miss the toilet every now and then lol

I make my ds pick up his toys every night before bed, so there's no toys for me to trip over.

Df and i do a big clean every Sunday while the kids are napping

mopping almost every day too in the kitchen.

wipe benches and table tops about 10 times a day...

windows weekly. or whenever they looks bad from fingerprints and whatever is smotherd all over them from my kid.

and constantly folding clothes and towels and putting them away.

animals get fed early mornings.

cages and aviarys sweeped out every few days. and washed down too.

fishtank gets done whenever i remember to do it... (poor fishies)

i dont have a life... all i do is cleaning which i should be doing now but i need a break to eat these m & m's before i die....lol cant live more than 20 mins without a few m & m's.

I do most things just about every day, depending how much time i have, but my toilet gets done every time i use it, i go through about 2 bottles of toilet cleaner a fortnight, i really really cant stand dirty toilets. I once held on (absolutely busting) for over 12 hours on a trip because at every stop the toilet was a bit dirty. I need help:crying:

OMG i feel so disgustingly dirrty :eek: How do you all do all that cleaning in a day????? I work full time so there is now way that i could do that, i need my ME time.
But my house is generally tidy unless i have a really really busy week then it just looks trashed - which i hate - but i do clean just not as much as you guys :( so sad

clean Kitchen - Nightly but sometimes i will pack dishwasher in the morning if i am feeling lazy or dd needs me
Washing (clothes) every 2 day and sheets and towels on the weekends
Vacuming - every couple of days depending on the traffice (no crawler - walker)
Mopping - once a week
Bathrooms - bout once a fortnight! OMG thats soooo bad:eek:
Toilet - once a week for the ensuite less for the other 2. (dont get used as much)
Windows - only clean when when you can write clean me on them LOL
Dust - whats that????
Change sheets when they get dirty, OMG
Ironing - only when i need to wear them
Folding - not as often as i should i hate it - we live out of washing baskets some times OMG :eek:

BUT every second weeked i do a huge clean on the house but then it only last a few days with df and dd around!!!

Before Faith I used to be so fussy that I would iron sheets, doona covers and even underwear. :smiliedance:

I clean as little as humanly possible! Unfortunately that amount increases dramatically with the birth of a child!!

I try to never let anything get untidy or dirty because I know how much I detest cleaning! My DH has put paid to that though as he leaves everything lying around & it irritatesme so much I'll pick it up!

I clean as I go when I cook because I couldn't face having to clean an untidy kitchen when I finish. DH gets every pot, bowl, knife, spoon, etc, out even when making the most simple thing & then leaves them there! Aaaaarrrrghhh!!!!:banghead:

I have started having to vaccuum more frequently with my little one lying around, but I'm dreading the constant cleaning I will have to do when she's on the move!!

As for the ironing, I only ever iron my own stuff if I can't get away with it otherwise, DH irons his own gear, but I always iron DD's!! I know! I'm crazy! The only things I don't iron are the body suits etc she wears to bed. I love ironing her things though! She has so many pretty things & they look so much better ironed! Plus, it only takes a few seconds to iron one of her tops or dresses. Not a big job!

I vaccum, sweep and mop every couple of days. Only cause im a family day carer and lots of dirt accumulates on the floors!! :D With cleaning the bathroom, dusting and anything else i usually do once a week, unless its really dirty. Washing up gets done every night. The washing gets done every two days, unless i get a bit lazy!! :p

I vacuum everday... wash clothes everday (around 2-4 loads a day) i try to mop once a week... washing the dishes.. i usually wash as i go along.. saves a pile up... ironing... i dont do it at all :D

Wow, most who have posted so far really clean quite often - how do you do it? (while maintaining a bubhub addiction :laughing: ).

We have a split level house and the kitchen/lounge/living area is downstairs, this is the only part of the house that I do daily and by that I mean making it look tidy (cleaning up after the kids meals, picking up their toys at the end of the day and a rough sweep daily).

I mainly do the spot cleaning with baby wipes! (so much quicker than doing the real job :D ).

Vacuum/Mop - fortnightly to 3wks
Bathrooms/toilets - fortnightly (alternating weeks to above)
Iron - we are a "iron as you need it" family!
Washing - 3 times a week
Change beds - fortnightly
Wash towels - fortnightly (I do air them daily though-afterall you are clean when you use them!!!!!!!)

I used to be really anal about cleaning before kids, but now I would much rather spend my time with them before the go off to school.

I clean the house really well once a week...dusting, mopping, vaccuming, everything really well. I do the washing every day, I sweep the floors everyday and iron once a week, change the sheets and towels once a week. So I think I am probably fairly average in the cleaning stakes. :p

I like the house to be tidy at all times even if it doesnt stay spotless and clean. :rolleyes:

Pick up toys probaly 5 times a day, and they are still everywhere!

I clean, turn around and it looks like nothing has been done anyway.

Suppose I should add to this seeing as I started the thread :laughing:

I vacuum when needed (usually every 1-2days) the main areas - rest are done weekly
Mop, weekly-fortnightly
Wash, every 1-2days
Dust as needed usually fortnightly
Kitchen every morning
Bathrooms weekly
Toilet twice a week
Sheets weekly (try to)
Towels, twice weekly.

Thank god for the last couple of you, I was starting to feel like a bit of a grot....
I vacuum as needed, which can be 5 days in a row, then not for a week. That's for downstairs, upstairs would be a week to 10 days on average.
I dust about once every blue moon!!
Mop as needed, seems to be every other day at times...
Wash every day, usually a light and a dark, but I can get by with one day off a week. Any more missed days and then I have to catch up!! Sheets every fortnight or so, cots every few days though.
Towels once a week.
Bathrooms every couple of weeks, but toilets every few days (kids forget to flush!!).
Kitchen throughout the day (in dishwasher) then full clean at night after dinner - sometimes the dishwasher goes on a couple of times. DH does the after dinner clean most nights, not all though.

I wash dishes as I use them and do a load of washing every day. I cant stand it if people come over and see things out of place!!
