Hi Ladies

I am hoping some of your gals can help me work out when I ovulate so I can pinpoint the best days for some luvin!

My cycles are regular 28/29 days

When my dd was conceived it was on day 15 of my cycle.

With my second pregnancy which resulted in miscarriage it was conceived day 14.

Last month we b/d on day 15 but no joy. I had really bad ovulation pain on days 14 and 15 so was assuming this was when I ovulated :detective:

The fertility calendar that I am using says that I will ovulate day 16 next cycle.

So when am I ovulating when I feel the pain or later than that?

I know it is better to b.d before ovulation so the little fellas are there ready and waiting but how soon before should we try?

Thanks for your help tick tock need to get it right this month:fingerscrossed:

Hey Manxie, I think you Ovulate about 14-16 days before your period. I cant remember 100%.

The best way to tell is checking your cervical mucous. Discusting but effective.

Just before you ovulate it becomes sticky and white, lots of it! When you ovulate it becomes clear and stringy, like egg whites..... :barf:

Its a very effective way to know whats happening in your body! GOOD LUCK FOR THAT :bfp:! :hugs:

Thanks Mischief I did keep an eye on the cm this month and it seemed to be "right" for days 14/15 :detective:

Lol I'm still a bit confused as if I count back fourteen days from AF that puts ovulation at day 16.

Manxie - your cycle sounds very similar to mine. I BD'd on CD 10,11,13,14,15 and 16 (phew!). I had 3 days of really good EWCM from CD12 to 14 so I think I must have O'd on CD14 - then I got my BFP.

The way I see it, just BD when you can without leaving too big a gap between days, then you're in for a good shot!

Goodluck!

Hi Manxie

Firstly, it is a myth that everyone ovulates 14 days before their AF. Everyone is different. The luteal phase (time from Ovulation to AF) can vary dramatically from person to person.

Generally the Luteal Phase is anywhere from 11 - 16 days, but there are still variations outside of this. So if you assume you will O 14 days before AF and BD around that time, you personally might actually have a longer luteal phase and miss your fertile time altogether (which i am 99% sure has been my problem for the last 16 or so months).

Mischief is right, CM is a very effective way of pinpointing O, and so is temperature charting.

If you want to have a look in my chart in the signature below it might help me make more sense. I have watery CM leading up to O, then i have eggwhite mucus a couple of days before till the day after ovulation.

For me, i needed to chart a couple of months before i worked it all out. i get ovulation pains on the actual day of ovulation.

If you are charting your temps, you generally have a dip the day of ovulation and then a rise the following day. Not all methods are effective for everyone though, but for me the CM and temps are the best predictors.

Hope that novel makes sense!!

Oh, and manxie, i have to get the whip out on DH cause he's so lazy, but my gyno said every second day is fine.

If you BD in the 4 days before till the day after O, you are in with a shot. You can see on my charts when we've been BDing. First month of charting was a BFP but i had an early miscarriage.

Yep, Tara is right! Some women even ovulate during their period! :o Thats why the rythmn method isnt very effective!

Just chart, you will be great!

Kittykatz-thank you. Well I reckon it looks like around day 14-15 is when I o, I will definately be looking at the signs this month. If I dont get any joy then I will think about charting (it all sounds a bit complicated to me:dizzy:) I will have a look at your charts and see if it looks a little less daunting.

Dumb question but what sort of temperature are we talking about taking (oral or some other dark dark place???) :o

Thanks mischief.
