OMG- Did anyone else see this show last night on SBS?
It was about a Dr in the USA who was supposed to be running a fertility clinic in the 80s I think.
He was giving women "fertility" injections, which were just doses of the hormone HCG. Of course, the HCG in their systems was triggering positive preg tests. So they'd go along and he do an ultrasound and show them the baby's arm or leg etc. Turns out it was probably faecal matter in their bowel!
Obviously the fake pregnancy would go on then one day, between 12 and 16 weeks, the Dr would say "I'm really sorry, but the baby's died. You won't have a miscarriage as such, the baby will just absorb in to your body"!!!!!
He did this to heaps of women. A news crew did a story and they had heaps of women come forward with their stories. One woman had 11 "pregnancies" with the help of this Dr! Imagine getting your hopes up that many times? IT'S CRUEL!
So the guy goes to court and some families come along to support him saying he helped them to conceive a child through artificial insemination. A lot of the kids looked alike. You guessed it, he was the main sperm donor! He'd go out to the loos just before the women's appt times. These women all lived in a fairly close area to each other so there was the chance all of these biologically half "brothers & sisters" may fall in love one day. There was also the fact that he'd told parents he'd try to find a donor that looked like the fathers!
I was absolutely amazed watching this. I had to make my husband watch it with me as I just couldn't believe it.
