We spend a lot of time in the car (too much) and I'm running out of ideas for snacks that are relatively healthy and relatively non messy. I'm getting tired of cleaning soggy bits of food out of her car seat. DD is now 17 months and so far we have enjoyed:

- plain pasta (no longer very popular)
- crackers (water thins, ritz etc)
- rice cakes, corn thins
- grapes
- pieces of apple or pear
- peas, corn and other finger veg
- toast
- bread sticks
- fingers of cheddar cheese (not often, very messy)

It's pretty heavy on bread type stuff and I'd like to get away from that. But the fruit & veg gets messy. Any other ideas out there?

Hi There
I use saltanas, dried apple cut up, dried apricot cut up and also a small container with corn flakes. My daughter also loves capsicum cut into strips, a bit odd but she will actualy chose this over fruit. Good luck I know the problem of always fishing food out from under car seats :)

We are also big fans of sliced dried apricot - the homebrand ones from Woolworths tend to be plumper than many of the more expensive brands in my experience.
We travel with containers of cubed kiwifruit - peeled then chopped up - she loves the green colour. We also like seaweed rice crackers and the Wiggles alphabet and numbers biscuits - sweet but low in sugar, and the vegemite in a biscuit crackers for a change every now and then.

Thanks for the suggestions. It's such a pain that what she'll happily eat one day she refuses the next, like capsicum. And the dried apricot got thrown across the car but it was worth a try at least and will offer it again another day :)
