TMI Warning

I have had a fairly normal and standard recovery from birth and had a really easy labour and birth. I was told to look out for clots after the first week. DS was two weeks on saturday. I was just lying on the floor for literally 2 minutes on my stomach as it then became quite uncomfortable then as I was standing up I felt something quite odd, went to the bathroom and found that I had passed a clot, it is about 3cm in length and maybe 1cm wide. Is this something that warrants a trip to the hospital? I googled and found a website that said that sometimes if you take it easy then have a day or two where you are on the go and standing most of the time etc then sometimes clots can appear. Just wanted to know if this is something others had heard of? I have been taking it really easy since DS was born, basically getting DH to do everything he can for me so I can sit and rest but he went to work yesterday so just me with the kids I have been running around , bending over to pick things up etc like a mad woman could this be the cause of it? I then read another website that instantly said infection of uterus and then went on about how scary that was.

Any advice/help/anything would be appreciated before DH gets home and freaks out

Thanks ladies

If you had a VB, when you delivered the placenta did they check if it was whole when it came out?
I think the main concern is that you may have retained a bit of placenta which can cause infection.
To you have a temp or chills, fever anything like that?
Also was it black-red or red like AF red?

was the clot smooth??? if it was then its probably nothing to worry about,
if it has rough edges the it could be some left over placenta that needs to be checked out

I remember lst year about 10 or so days after giving birth, I passed the hugest clot ever, was about the same size as yours, scared the **** outta me

it was smooth, looked exactly like liver, wasnt a bright colour at all

they said the whole placenta came away, so shouldnt be anything to worry about?

rang the middies, she said since all the placenta came away, i have no fever, no bad cramping in my tummy then she said it doesnt sound like anything to worry about but if i pass any more then to give them a call and they will get me in to be assessed.

I passed some clots about 11 days after DD2. I was told they were all normal. If it looked like liver (ewww:barf:) and wasnt bring red it would be fine. Obviouly im no doctor and may be wrong but i think you will be fine.
Its normally the first week or so where infection could happen anyway. And if they said your placenta was intact the midwives are normally pretty right.
You should call the midwives anyway to make yourself feel better.

And how gross is having a bub! lol the birth with all the blood and gunk and then after with all the blood and gunk lol! certainly makes up for 9 months with no period!
