DS was playing in my room this morning and somehow the top fell off the lamp and he burnt his leg on the lightbulb  It's only a cheap Ikea lamp and the top part comes off quite easily, he knows not to play with it, yet he still does

I was just wondering what the best thing to put on it is. I will probably take him to get it checked later today, but it's raining, so I can't go anywhere til after lunch when DH gets home with the car. I was going to put papaw ointment on it, but I can't find it  There is a red area about the size of a 50cent coin, and looks like it is starting to blister in the middle, probably and area around 20cent coin size.

Any other suggestions of what might help it?

You really need to run cold water over it, just keep the tap running for 15 minutes over the burnt area, but it might be too late if there is already a blister. If it's blistered, try not to let it pop. I would get a doc to check it, because the worst thing with burns is the possibility of infection. Hope he is OK. :fingerscrossed:

Thanks C'n'C'sMum :) I tried to run cold water over it, but he decided he wanted to play in the bath instead so he had a cold bath  He was in there for about 20-25mins tho so hopefully that did some good. He likes having cold baths...he is strange...

Agree with the cold water, but aloe vera is very good for burns, I think better than paw paw personally. The sap straight from the plant is best but if you don't have a plant you can buy aloe gel from a health food shop. Hope his leg gets better soon.

Lavender essential oil - will help with healing and prevent infection! Mixed with aloe vers would be even better!!
