Hi laides....ill be in my 13th week of pregnancy tomorrow and things are going fantastic..I had an u/s done last week for the t/n test and everything was fine...
Babies h/r was 171bpm which is really good.
I know that heart rate isnt usually used to determine gender but with my dd her h/r was always over 170 bpm and my 2 ds h/r were always under 140bpm or there about...
Just wondering for all the ladies that have had u/s done what was your babies h/r??

I had an ultrasound at around 10 weeks and am due for another one next week (12 weeks).
The heart rate for twin 1 was 177 and for twin 2 it was 180. I saw the info on the ultrasound itself, there is a panel with figures and one is the heart rate.

Just had my 12 week ultrasound today. And everything looks really good.
Bubbles heart rate is 163, which is higher than my lil boy was. His started at 153 at 7 weeks and dropped at 12 weeks, then again at 19 weeks. I think it was about 145 at 12 weeks. So if what they say is true, that girls have a faster heart rate than boys. Then this one is a girl. :fingerscrossed:

Wow Tuttifrutti both babies h/r sound great...Were you surprised to find out your expecting twins?
Bree...They reckon there is no actual evidence that h/r is one way to determine gender but im not so sure lol...IMO i honestly think girls have a higher h/r..
I guess we will soon see.
(I have a gut feeling that we are having a girl)
Keep us posted ladies after you have your u/s.
Goodluck.

thanks for your congrats! I was very shocked ... I still am. This week has taken so long to go, waiting for the next scan
My mum just bought me a monitor that lets you check the heart rate yourself, but you can't use it till 5 months. I think you can get them from appliance and electrical stores for around $40. You can also hire dopplers from www.bellybeat.com.au (http://www.bellybeat.com.au) but they are expensive, I think $40 a month. I just want to hear it again!
I also read that once the heartbeat is detected, the risk of miscarriage drops to 3-5% - which is a relief :)
I love your ultrasound mumofanangel, wow - that is amazing for 12 weeks!!

Just while we're on the subject of dopplers etc...I bought A prenatal listening system from kmart,i think it cost around $50 but considering the price of dopplers its cheap as chips. It does everything that a doppler does.It even records babies h/b..Only prob is that you cant listen til your inbetween 21-28 weeks..
Tuttifrutti is your lil bump getting big?you'll have to paste some pics for us all to see..
Take care

Hi All,
My mum actually told me about this theory last night. She said the same, if the heart rate is fast i's a girl, slower it's a boy. I had an ultrasound at 8 weeks which had the heart rate at about 158 bpm and at my 12 week scan the heart rate was around 146 bpm. My partner and my dad both think that we are having a baby boy, but We have only agreed on a name for a girl. lol........
So I guess the question remains, is it a boy or a girl..... We are still undecided about finding out the sex in Jan at our next scan. I just want to know without knowing!!!!!!

I can only think of names for girls too!
It seems like the heart rate drops by around 10 between 8 and 12 weeks, mine was around 180 at 8 or 9 weeks and yesterday twin 1 was 169 and twin 2 was 165
