Jakob has just learnt that he can stand on top of things to get to where he wants  He has just stopped falling over and bumping his head so much, I don't want to know about a fall from a higher point. I am worried that I won't be watching him and he will get himself into trouble. I was quickly putting the groceries away while I thought he was playing. I turn around and he is standing on his stride to ride walker trying to get at our window. Big fright that was. I'll be watching him like a hawk :p

I totally understand what you are going through with Jakob. My Nicolas, 21 months, is a real dare devil, climbs up on anything and everything and has now discovered that if he moves small pieces of furniture he can use these a leverage. It really scares me when I catch him in situations he couldn't possibly understand the danger he's in. On the other hand my Jacob (now 4) was the total opposite to his brother, wasn't really that adventurous. I guess all we can do is try our hardest to ensure they are watched 24/7.

Hi
I have only had a girl and maybe she's not so adventurous, but she did like to stand up on coffee tables, sofas etc. I have heard or read that falls can be quite dangerous when the child is falling from a height that is taller than they are, so I have always told my daughter that she doesn't stand up on the chair / coffee table because it is dangerous. She is allowed to sit or kneel, but not stand (that's where I've drawn the line). She seems to accept this (but does have to be reminded from time to time)
