Well Im pregnanct with my first baby... and the whole pregnancy idea is quite overwhelming.. I have so many questions and can never seem to remember any of them to ask when I see my doctor...
Is it normal to have really itchy nipples? (sorry TMI)
Are mouth ulcers something I should be worried about... or just keep applying a soothing gel cream and hope they go away?
I want to start doing some Yoga but im unsure of what stretches may be too strenuous or harmful?
Is there any reason not to do stomach crunches in early pregnancy?
Apart from deli meats, raw sushi and pate etc... Is there any other foods I should stay clear of??
All responces are greatly appreciated!! :hugs:
Firstly congratulations and 'the path is long but the journey is worth it' (no I'm not quoting I just made that up).

- Totally dude. Hell I had itchy, freezing boobs and used a heated pack on it. At least you are going through summer, winter is horrible.

- Ulcers are interesting. I would check your toothpaste and they recommend you visit the dentist at least once during pregnancy (no x-rays and no fillings, please, but to have your gums checked). Tell your dentist about the ulcers except if you already have been to the dentist and he gave you a free tube of toothpaste, if this is the case then through the toothpaste out and go back to your old stuff. (I'm speaking from experience here).

- At home or with a group? If with a group talk to the instructor who will make sure you do what is appropriate. If at home, ummm, probably should google or wait for someone else to respond on this.

- The first trimester are the most precarious, I would recommend taking it pretty easy. I went skiing in the second trimester but it is considered safer then.

- soft cheeses. This doesn't include yoghurt or cream cheese. You can google or go to the hubbub information sheets for stuff like this.
Good luck.

Hey - congrats on pregnancy ..... it is a long and horrible (for me anyway) but incredibly wonderful journey.....
Answers
1 is it normal to have itchy nipples - absolutely. Your boobs change significantly during pregnancy...gorw, change colour, itchy etc. hot and cold packs as suggested work wonders.
2. ulcers - I have no idea. Maybe someone else will know....
3. Yoga - be careful. I would suggest going to a pregnancy yoga class (ask your local council, or your obs/maternity hospital - they will provide details of ante natal excercises) During pregnancy your body produces plenty of hormones to relax your muscles (to allow for grwoth of bubby) which can mean it is really really easy to overstretch and do damage.
4. Stomach crunches - i wouldnt do them..... for above reasons especially in first trimester not really recomended, after that you may be able to for a short time before it gets too uncomfortable anyway.....
5. There is a thread on bubhub detailing what foods to eat ....Not sure when but was pretty recent. In general, dont eat soft cheeses, raw meat / fish and deli foods and runny/raw eggs.
As a general rule, anything hot (steaming) is fine as heat kills listeria so even ham/chicken etc that you cant eat cold, you can eat if it has been thoroughly heated up (even soft cheeses in cooking).
Apart from that - good luck !!!!

Yes!! I totally forgot about that until now, it used to drive me mad, I was forever scratching away at them!

Try a pregnancy yoga class instead of regular yoga. That way you can be sure you're not harming your wee bubba.
Hope you're feeling ok!
I'm also pregnant with my first so I know what you mean about feeling overwhelmed at times. Just wanted to say regarding stomach crunches, they are apparently fine in the first trimester, but after that when you start getting bigger, it's not recommended because it can cause your abs to separate too much - I think it's then harder or not possible to get them back in shape after birth? I thought I would be worried about exercising too much but since I"ve been pregnant I havent' felt like it at all apart from a few gentle walks.
