View Full Version : Projectile Vomiting
My dd is 2 weeks old and formula fed...have been on karicare but she started projectile vomiting and now we have tried thickening her feeds but it is still happening. She is not in any pain, her poos are good and is still really settled so I am a little confused! My son had reflux as a baby and he just screamed all day and night, was in pain and never really settled which is opposite to her. I have just bought some goat formula to give a shot....thought maybe the cow protein is upsetting her tummy....does anyone have any ideas or thoughts or experienced something similar?? Don't really want to give soy a go...found this horrible with my son.....love to hear

Have you seen a Dr? I wouldn't go messing around with thickeners or goat BMS without seeing a doc.

When you say projectile vomiting, is it just one 'spit-up' or a continual projectile vomit (a number of 'purges' until everything is saturated) ?
You need to get it check by a Dr straight away. DS was 2 weeks old when he first started projectile vomiting and at first we thought it was just reflux. It turned out he had a condition called pyloric stonosis which is a blockage at the bottom of the stomach. It is not that uncoman and usually presents itself at about 3 to 6 weeks of age. He was sent for an ultra sound which diagnosed the comdition and the next day he had the operation to fix it.
With projectile vomiting at such a young age it is always wise to get it checked asap to rule ploric stonosis out.
Good luck hope all turns out well
Definately what Rell said!
My DS started projectile vomiting but luckily it was all ok with him in the end. But I would go to your dr asap.:)
