Goodbye J-Ho! Goodbye the Cheshire Cat! Good bye Tony Abbot! (even the libs would have to be happy about that surely?!)

But seriously, I think a cold shower is in order for me. There's a clear swing to Labor, but they need 16 seats!! Maybe more if they lose a few in WA... The Greens vote will be crucial.

Oh the anticipation is agonising!! The results might not be known until WA is counted - which won't be until late tonight. Or, depending on QLDs results, it could be called by 8-8:30pm.
4Boys, yeah, the Greens are going great overall, but there's a few seats they need to go really in well for their preferences to get Labor across the line.

Possibly... i have been saying to DH all day that as much as Rudd deserves the win, many people may have fallen for the same scare tactics from Howard this time round as they were when Latham was up against him. JHo said the other day something like "People need to not treat their vote like an unwanted Christmas present, if you are voting simply for the sake of change, you can't change your mind come Boxing Day", and i believe many people are voting simply for the sake of change so some voters may have swung their vote back for Libs today as a result of this scare tactic, but that is just my insignificant opinion

According to the Virtual Tally Room a few mins ago...
1,703,412 - Coalition Votes
1,951,546 - Labor Votes
That's nearly 250000 more votes our way... so I'm quite impressed.
About an hour and a half ago, they were winning.
Of course there's still many more votes to be counted... but it's sure looking promising... our percentage just keeps on going up, up, up...

Channel 9 are calling it a Rudd win already. However, they count the votes too early, predict their seat win, and then take it off when it's actually not their win. Frustrating!
Yeah, channel 9 are perhaps being a bit hasty. I've gone back to the ABC, both on the telly and online

Yeah, I am so waiting for his victory speech...I feel like I am going to pop!
Ok now for that word again - 'mandate'. I think Australia just told the Liberals where their mandate should be very 'gently' put; I hope Labor doesn't start sprouting and overusing the word :fingerscrossed:

Congratulations to all the Labor voters.
It's been interesting going toe to toe with you all over the past year.
I look forward to more from the other side of the table.
Good luck to all - may Rudd and Co. bring you everything your heart's desire.
I would drink but even that particular avenue of pleasure has been taken away from me too.
That's very nice and polite of you MD... I expected a bit more grumbling from Team Liberal TBH...
Not going to say I'm sorry for your loss, because, well, I'm not... :p... but I hope your life will be affected positively (if at all) by these new changes. :hugs:

Oh hell yeah! That word was totally hijacked by the coalition to mean "if we win by ONE vote we can do whatever we like!".
That is NOT a mandate! Aggh!! :hair:

MD & Roopee, commiserations, and I hope the debate doesn't end here. :shakehands:
The Senate is looking... um, fascinating! It's looking like Family First's Steven Fielding & an Independent, Nick Xenophon will hold the balance of power. The Greens have 5 senators it seems.

I really like the way he's going about this...
He's handling this properly, I really like what he's saying, as well as the manner he's saying it in..
I know I sound like a bit of a di*k, but I'm sooo tired!
This is AWESOME!!! :sunshine:

He just thanked ME.
Well... not me personally, obviously... but thanked me for voting for him, because I'm in his electorate. :p

I just thought I would come online for my virtual glass of Bollinger. My friends have not long gone home (after great satisfaction of seeing J Ho speech!) I just wanna say how John Howard took his defeat so amicably and just pure and simple 'took it on the chin' like an atypical Australian man of his generation!!
Go Kevin :smiliedance::yelclap: Make us proud son (as my grandfather would have said!!)
BTW Im gonna have another glass for Bernie too....
