DH just informed me that Johnnys electorate is about 75% counted, and he is LOOSING 47% only voting him in.
So looks like regardless which party wins - little Johnny may well be out anyway.

so... if the Libs still win overall, he won't be prime minister anymore, will he!? So.... oh gawd, not costello...??? Or would it be the leader of the nationals?

Dunno for sure who that will make PM - but he won't be for sure if he doesn't win his own seat. Prob will be costello though....if liberals win.

If Howard loses his seat, another Liberal MP will likely give up theirs for him.

Wouldn't it be great if the seat of Bennelong decided the PM - Prime Minister MAXINE McKEW sounds good I reckon :p

She'd make a fantabulous PM!
She has done a fab job, even if Howard keeps his seat (I still can't really believe he would lose it). She has kept him down on the ground in Bennelong much more than if someone of a lesser calibre had been standing......
Good woman Maxine

Another booth in Bennelong had a 10% swing to Labor. But I'm still doubtful of if Howard will really lose.
I agree with Maria though.

Channel nine just said that there is a current 17.5% swing to Labor in Johnnys seat.

Channel 7 just advised that if John Howard loses his seat (which he may well do) and the Libs are re-elected then Peter Costello will be the PM not John Howard. (or whoever the Libs elect as their leader but almost definitely Peter Costello).
TBH I think it might be because the people in Bennelong don't want to have to give up another saturday voting in a by-election when John Howard retires. (which is fair enough).

Maxine's ahead on the primary vote! Only 3 booths counted, but Howard could well lose! Ok, time for a cold shower...
