I'm not on the best terms with my Mum atm, never really am so I was quite surprised when she asked me about politics of all things...

She has ALWAYS been a Liberal supporter for as long as I can ever remember and she must have been so sick of hearing me rant that tonight she said:

"You have 5 minutes to convince me on why I should vote for Kevin Rudd"

I was a little taken back by it but started on my dribbling rant and by the end she sat there is silence and then said:

"Hmmm... Good points"

Then she walked off, I was so cranky that I left the room only to have her follow me in about 5 minutes later with the news that she will now be voting for Kevin Rudd in tomorrow's election!!

Oh yeah!! Woo hoo!! :smiliedance::yelclap::smiliedance:

YAY!!!!!!!!
My FIL is the same....this is the first election that he will be voting Labor in.
He is usually very stubborn and refuses to listen to anyone about anything, but says that the IR laws have done it for him. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, how cool! It is excellent to see some Australians are coming to their senses:smiliedance:! Now all we have to do is hope that the majority are equally intelligent and I will be muchly happy.

Is it wrong to be sooo looking forward to voting? I am such a nerd! I can't wait! My husband is volunteering with the coastguard today (y'know, 'cos he is just a lazy idle labor-voting dole bludger that won't give anything back to the community ;)) so I will have to wait for him to come pick me up and take me to vote. How 'noying, I'd be there first up all keen otherwise! :o

Just go to your nearest school, there should be a polling station there. I hope. Erm, I think there is somewhere online you can check, give me a sec and I'll have a wee look...

Here you go (http://www.aec.gov.au/polling_place_locator/index.htm)

I lined up for 20 mins too, then it took me 15 mins to number the Senate ticket 1-65!

Analysts are predicting a cliffhanger, with possible recounts...

I got to mine at 9ish, but they were letting those of us with babies move to the front of the line because it's so damn hot here.
Thank god!

I'm going over soon... wonder how long I'll have to wait?

Leesh, where did you vote? I'm voting at the TAFE near my house because it's the closest...

I wish I knew when Rudd was going to vote and where... (I'd like to see how he is in person).

Hope they're doing that at all schools. I have to wait for ds2 to wake up then walk with both the boys and it's soooo hot

No kiddie preferences here either unfortunately only for absentee votes.

The polling booths close at 6:00pm!

Stace I voted at the local state school, there are about 4 polling booths all within equal distance to me but this was easier to get to in the morning.

Wow - eager voters in your areas - Dh and I voted at 8:45am and got straight in pretty much - only 2 in front of us.

It was a momentous occasion because DH only got his citizenship this year so it was his first time to vote.:goodvibes:
