I must addmit I like policies that come from both sides of the fence.....but I have to vote for who will protect my families interests best and coming from a defence force family I am steering towards being a Liberal voter...

Greens, with preferences to Labor.
It will be close.
1 Greens, 2 Labor
BTW it's better to vote for a minor party first and a major party second as your preference is then counted and you essentially vote twice that way.
If you vote for a major party(Lib/Nat or ALP) and they win, your preferences aren't even looked at and noone will ever know that you liked the policies of the Greens, Dems, What Women Want or Family First:idea:.

Libs aren't offering much IMO. I don't agree with their values or (many of) their policies.
Family First are a bunch of religious extremist nutters IMO. Would never want them to be in charge (not that they ever will be) of our country.

greens then labor
Liberals...Go the Liberals!
Labor i am pretty sure.
Just wondering someone said earlier that you vote for a minor party first then major as your prefernece which is this for(senate or the other one) and how does it work? :o
Yep i am clueless
Liberals I think - the Labor candidate in my electorate doesn't even live in the electorate, so there's no way he'll get my vote.
Looks like the Greens might pick up more seats this year too.

Preference voting simply means that if no party wins outright on the first count (they need 50+1 % to win), then the votes are counted again with the 2nd preference added to the first count (it's uncommon that a candidate will win on the first count).
So, if you vote Green first, and noone wins on the first count, then your next preference, say Labor, get your preference added to their vote. So, say Labor had won 43% on first count, then when preferences are distributed, they win a majority. Preferences keep getting counted until a candidate reaches 50+1 % of the vote. This means that the Green's (for instance) primary vote (before preferences) is high, telling the major parties that the environment, social justice issues are important to voters.

***stands tall and waits for all the labor supporters to smash her to the ground***
I think the preference system is fab, from what I can remember in the UK it's just a flat out contest for votes and there are no coalitions eg If the Conservatives get just one more electorate than Labor they win I believe. If there is a hung parliment then the Queen decides! (this hasn't happened for a long time) So while I do not like a lot of aspects of aussie polictics IMO preferences and enforced voting rock!

I've always voted greens. I think I will this time aswell although I'm in such a labor stronghold seat that I don't think it would make a difference. But every vote counts so go greens!

You know, if I were living in another electorate, I might vote Greens. I've been thinking more and more about voting for them... however, I don't feel I can because Rudd is my local member and I want to absolutely make sure that HE is ruling the country.
It kinda sucks, as it means I want HIM to rule, but because it's partly up to MY VOTE to make sure that happens, I can't vote anyone but him.
That probably makes no sense to anyone but me...:p

Labor has my vote!
Johnny has had his chance (11 years in fact) and yes in the beginning he did great things and turned everything around... then he went and jumped into bed with George Bush. Then brought in these new IR laws...
And then there is also the leadership change that will happen during this next term if he were to win. No way do I want Peter Costello running our country and ruining the future for my children. :nono:
Besides the Liberal candidate for my area is completely useless!

Haven't decided yet, Swinging towards Labour, however, with their track record of interest rates in the past, it's pulling me up on my decision. Interest Rates now alone are hitting us enough.

Where did the democrats go? I'll vote dems/labor. Maybe just labor. Is it funding issues that mean we don't get to hear from all the candidates/parties? Let's not become America where you have to be a trust fund baby or a first wife to run for office. (I like Hilary though, she's got moxie).

I dont vote, so I selected OTHER in the poll.
Personally though I really hope labour gets in, but hey, they are all as bad as eachother, ultimately they care about the money that goes into their own pockets! JMO!
Don't forget Greens preferences go to Labor, so you might want to think about that if you don't like Rudd.
Kirsty B doesn't have to follow the how to vote cards - she chooses where her preferences go - she can vote 1 Green and 2 Liberal if she wants, noone can change that - so if the Green gets knocked out of the running, her 2nd preference for the Libs will get counted as a vote for them.
Parties can only ask/suggest voters give their preferences to another party - they can't make voters give there preferences to any particular party.

The Dems are still around, but they kind of fizzled because there was so much infighting - half of them were sympathetic to the Left and half were sympathetic to the Right, and they couldn't agree on what direction the party should take. I think the media has given up on them since Natasha Stott-Despoja left - they just weren't sexy enough. It's a shame really - they used to be a really good party.

LIBERAL!!!!

labor all the way.:flowerz:
Here are 10 reasons why I will not vote Liberal/national
1 where are the weapons of mass destruction, The Liberals told us this and they were never found, sending our troops over to Iraq for no reason.
2 John Howard lying about keeping interest rates low when he should not have said anything, because the reserve bank is responsible not the govt.
3 John Howard wants to build a nuclear reactor, maybe right near my house, no thanks johnny.
4 The coalition has no plans for the climate, they wont sign kyoto, because George Bush has told him not to.
5 A Liberal govt gives millions of $$$ to private schools and leaves the public system to rot.
6 He has a health minister who insults a very respected person in the community, thats low.:barf:
7 John Howard has a MP who's husband roams around at night distributing fake ALP leaflets, WTF.
8 Cost of living has sky rocketed since the coalition won last election, fuel is almost out of reach, it will be food next.
9 I do not want Abbott and Costello  ,in charge of the country.
10 Does every 1 remember when Jonny said there will never be a GST as long as he was PM.
:rolleyes::nono:.
