Could someone lead me in the right direction for a recipe for a crunchy asian salad.
I think it has crunchy noodles and some kind of dark sauce on it and maybe cos lettuce i can't remember???
tia
Is the one you are thinking about made with fried noodles bought from the supermarket? It doesn't have cos in it, I think it is cabbage and pine nuts etc, but it is DIVINE! It is actually on a packet of the Chang's Fried Noodles (I think that is the name!)
Hope that helps! :)
I make that salad all the time - it is great. The recipe is on the back of the packet of Changs Fried Noodles (in the noodle aisle at the supermarket). It has Chinese cabbage, spring onions, pine nuts and the noodles in it and the dressing is made of soy sauce, sesame oil and sugar I think.
OMG!!! This salad is sooo great! Cause I'm a little bored, here are the ingredients/instructions from the back of the packet :D
1/2 - 1 chinese cabbage or savoy cabbage, shredded finely
6 green onions, chopped into 5mm lengths
100g lightly roasted slivered almonds or pinenuts (I usually use 50g of both :))
1 pkt Changs Fried Noodles 100g
Dressing:
1/4 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup castor sugar
1 tbspn soy sauce
2 tspns sesame oil (optional)
1/2 cup olive oil
Combine all the dressing ingredients in a saucepan. Stir well over low heat until sugar is dissolved. Cool. Toss the cabbage, chopped green onion & nuts in a salad bowl. Add dressing & mix well. Just before serving add noodles & toss thoroughly. You can also add bbq chicken or pork.
