Yup, 8am. Us pesky HTV card peeps have to be there by 7.30!!! That'll teach me to be passionate!!

Thought I'd ask the closing times in this thread rather than starting a new one. We have a function to go to (who the hell does this on election day??) and want to vote aferwards.

I'm pretty sure the polls close at 6pm :)

The polling place closes

The doors of the polling place close at exactly 6.00pm sharp. Any person still in the polling place still has a right to vote. The counting of votes (http://www.aec.gov.au/Voting/counting/index.htm), or ?scrutiny? begins in the polling places as soon as the poll closes.

Would you believe people were lined up at 7am? One lady in front of us was there at 7am... what a waste for her, we got there at 8am and were lined up behind her and only waiting 10 mins to get in and get our names marked off. We were home by 8.20am!

Yep, die hard voters LOL! The whole time they were in line, they sounded like they have lived and breathed the entire election trail! Insane.
