Because I will not vote for greens if Labor would lose strength in my seat.

Can somebody please educate me?

When you vote you have to number the boxes in order that you want to, ie Greens 1 and Labor 2.

I seen this one TTN the other day and it helped explain it to me

Hope this helps.

If you want Labor to really win that bad, you should follow their how to vote card.
Remember to preference Greens if they are also important to you.
And GO GREENS for the senate!

Check out Odessa's thread from yesterday "Your Preferences really do matter"

If you are in a seat where it is unlikely that a Greens candidate will get the majority of votes (which I think is all of the lower house seats) then you can safely vote Greens first and Labor second and your preference will not hurt labor at all as your preference will end up being a vote for them because the Greens candidate will be knocked out of the running early on.
