Anyone allergic to any medications?

Hi there,
About 6-8 weeks ago i expirienced an allergic reaction to maxalon usually used for Nausea.I was feeling very nervous shaky,hot flushes and finding it hard to breath/relax.I was put on oxygen and wathced and was told i had an allergic reaction to it.The funny thing was they said to me are you allergic to maxalon my reply was "not that i know of".I have searched the web about this and couldnt find any info.I just wanna know if anyone is allergic to a drug?Wat happens if you take it?Can it be fatal?And any other information youd like to add would be grateful.

Yes 5 years ago found i was allegric to asprin i get chillies,fever and vomiting

I'm allergic to Penicillin and Erythromicin (sp)...
with Penicillin I swell up all over, haven't taken it since that dreadful first time when I was a child so I don't know if it could be fatal but I guess considering the reaction is to swell...I'm not going to risk it.
With Erythromicin I get painful stomach cramps.
Most the women in my family seem to be allergic to Penicillin...my mum is allergic to Penicillin and Sulphur (which is usually used instead of Penicillin)...
we tend to tell the doctors what antibiotics we can take!!!

i too am allergic to Maxalon. my tongue and throat swells and i get the nervous/anxiety attacks as well. i was a teen when i found out and my Dad thought i was being silly at first when i said i couldn't talk or swallow. we had never heard of an nallergy to it before that ... needless to say Dad was very sorry he doubted me for weeks later.

now i find i actually read those silly brochures ou get in medication boxes just to be aware of what might go wrong!!

I am allergic to penicillin. have been since i was 3. I get a really bad rash from it and get pretty sick too. My mums allergic to codeine. she gets fevers, shakes, vomiting.

I too am allergic to penicillin.

My collegues at work were stumped by this as it is an antibacteria. We were having a big luncheon, then out came the cheese and crackers. On the plate was blue vein cheese. But alas, blue vein has mould in it which contains the dreaded pencillin. So no cheese for me :thumbsdown:

I am actually quite surprised at how many are allergic to it, I never thought it was a common allergy in people. Now I know I am not the only weird one :laughing:

I'm allergic to asprin (and red wine - which really sucks!) what makes it worse is that I suffer from migraines and most migraine medication is asprin based...
Though I don't like to take it now in case it makes me sleepy when I'm here with the kids on my own....
