I have never had a pukey baby but seems that indie is, its only just happened the last few week though.

She is a really happy content baby (apart from the witching hour) she feeds well and even though i seem to have a fast flow i have tried feeding her in different positions so it doesnt all hit her at once, i guess. Anyway after maybe every 3rd feed maybe around 20 minutes after burping etc she will literally throw it all up :(

She is gaining weight (she was weighed on friday she was 2 and ah a half weeks and gained a pound since discharge weight) so i know that shes actually getting the nutrients.

Could the vomitting be from what i am eating? I eat healthy and eat rather balanced diet wise, or do you think its just one of those things? My sister told me she might be lactose intolerant as her bubs wasad her others werent and she had to resort to formula, i really dont want to FF i am all for BF long term.

Any ideas? Have check up in two weeks, shes happy though so it doesnt concern me and shes content etc but i figure it cant be good if shes doing this every 3rd feed.

Ohh she usually feeds every 3 hours sometimes in between a top up, its on tap when she wants it :) but i doubt shes being over fed she wouldnt drink if she didnt need it right?

Hi there, my second bub was a 'happy chucker' - in that he would vomit little bits and pieces all day...forever changing his clothes! But he never seemed bothered by it so mustn't have had the burning acid. He never screamed and arched his back whilst feeding so my CHN wasn't too bothered by his little spills. I wonder if your DD might be similar to this, although you did say she has one big vomit which looks like an entire feed so not sure there. The quantity often looks more than it really is though too.

If she is contented and otherwise feeding well and gaining weight, then there is probably nothing really to worry about. My CHN assures me its something that they will grow out of....we're still waiting (DS is now 7 months old and still likes to christen us a couple of times a day)! :) Perhaps mention it to your GP or CHN next time you see them just to ease your mind.

All the best :)

Dont stress yourself !

If she is happy putting on weight etc there is no issue with it.

It sucks having to put up with the pew but a fat happy chucker is usually one that grows out of their reflux issues quickly & without any other problems.

If she was losing weight, screaming in pain etc then it would be something you need to have looked at etc.

Your sister resorting to formula due to bubs being intolerant is actually not the right move. If bubs seems to react to dairy or other foods in any way eliminating them from your diet while b/f stops the problem. This also doesnt prove an intolerance etc it may just be that bubs cant handle too much dairy & overloads. There is plenty of stuff to read about on the ABA website go have a looksy. If bubs has an intolerance there will be other signs like their poo being yuck them being unhappy losing weight & they wont be able to take normal formula but will have a prescription one.

I would say that maybe the fast flow is causing her tummy to churn a little but overall i wouldnt stress as it seems like she is a very happy bub !

Oh, another thought - some babies are bigger comfort suckers than others so its also possible she may be getting over-full from the enjoyment of suckling. We ended up using a dummy for the first few months for this reason too. We got rid of it before he was 4 months old though as I am not big on dummies!

thanks i wont stress :) just worried as it seemed to happen too often. I will look at what i am eating though maybe allyloo thanks for that might be worth trying if it continues.

Thisisliving she doesnt like to comfort suck so i am lucky there, she pretty much feeds sucking full throttle and then stops and nuzzles into my boob but takes her mouth off, i burp her and i put her to bed and she self settles etc, i dont know how she does this without any tears or grizzles she just does so figure i will keep at that habit why shes doing it :D Wish my others were like that LOL oh and we dont have a dummy either

As for the vomtting etc it doesnt bother me as it doesnt smell i do enough washing anyhow and i almost know when shes going to suprise me with it so i am ready to catch i just dont want it to run her down i guess and was thinking it might be serious. I will stop stressing now, :D shes happy putting on weight and content etc so all must be good as you both mentioned thankyou

I will mention it though when i see my gp he will probably laugh at me though for being a paranoid mum LOL

sorry dont have any advice on the pukey bit, just wanted to andwer this bit

i dont believe a bf baby can be overfed. they drink what they need and any extra feeds are for hunger, building supply, or comfort (whatd be better then being close to mum in this big new world!)

if youre worried allyoos right, just go to the aba website n have a look at there info or call 1 of their councilors!

good luck!

oops im to slow at posting... didmt see your reply already!!

This sounds just like Mirabella. We have at least 1 big chuck once a day. I know when she is going to do it because she starts to grizzle on the boob and pull off and go back on. The about 15 mins later it will all come up. Once she has chucked she is fine. I think her eyes are bigger than her tummy.

She will not take a dummy. I put it down to over feeding well that's what the nurse said anyway.

i have that attitude too that you cant over feed them if they are bf and its hard to get a child to eat if they arent hungry so same concept really!

Milliner has your engorgment gone down yet? I have found mines eased but i have quiet a heavy flow first thing in the mornings for some reason even though she hangs of me during her witching hour from 2am onwards this is what i cant work out, when i am feeling really really full and shes gulping she doesnt throw up, its when my breast feel empty (even though they arent) that shes doing it

My ds was a chucky baby and still is at 6 months old. He doesn't seem phased by it either.

Jaxon used to do huge chunders :barf: but it never phased him, he was putting on the right amount. I think he was just a little piggy and couldn't hold it in as well.

Cooper has probably only spewed 3-4 times? Not much at all.

Luka never spat up either, but Felix...

Well, look at my avatar... we call him Chuckie :D.

He's not bothered by it though, and at 8 months now he rarely has a big chuck, just a few little ones... and the name, Chuckie... I think it's going to stick .
