DHs granddad is turning 90 on Boxing day. So we need to get him a gift - I think it will be a combined chrissy and birthday present but I cant for the life of me think of something to get him. What on earth would a 90 year old want or like?? :detective:

If his hearing is still good, you could gather all his favorite music or music that you think he'll like onto an ipod or something like that.
Something basic but that he can use easily.
Or a nice family portrait with grandad in the middle.

It really depends on what he does with himself and how active he is :detective:

I think most people of his age would like something made for him by you guys and the kids like something that means alot that costs lttle to no money!

Something that is easy to use.
And a nice family portrait with grandad in the centre.

i think he would love your company perhaps either take him out for lunch somewhere nice or have a nice meal at his place and let him sit back and relax with family around him and then maybe get the kids to decorate a frame or something and put anice pic of your family in it

He is still very active. He goes down to the pier every weekend and plays music to raise money for charity.

Thanks for the ideas so far. I was thinking of a family photo... hmmmm

Hi
It's my Grandmother's 90th this weekend so I have faced the same question! I came up with the following:

A photo collage of photos from the past (90!!) few years.
Family photos in a lovely frame (you can get gorgeous ones from bargin shops)
A beautiful box of Twinings tea with all the different flavoured teas.
Aftershave/cologne/perfume
Some old movies on dvd
A food hamper from a gourmet deli like Simon Johnson or Jones the Grocer.Basically you want something that can be used by them and that is actually useful.

I'm getting my grandma some lovely soaps and handcream from Crabtree and Evelyn together with some nice tea from T2.

Good luck and happy birthday Grandpa!

The whole family is already getting together on Boxing day to celebrate.
I do like the family photo idea though.

Don't know if you like this idea, but for my Grandma's 70th I did a whole lot of research on the net basically giving a snap shot of the world the year she was born. I found advertisements from that era, songs, fashions. Did you know...? facts like Melb cup winners and Academy Award winners of the year. I could also find the cost of certain things as a comparison to now.

Google is a wonderful thing!

I printed it all really nicely and had it bound into a book- She loved it, and reminisced about things for ages!
