View Full Version : Question for NOR mummies!
Hey girls,
I was just wondering if you'd all be kind enough to answer a few questions for me. My partner and I have been thinking about moving NOR when our lease is up in August. This being because I want to be closer to uni. Sooo...
What suburb do you live in?
What do you think of the area?
Are there good daycares and schools there?
How much would a 3 or 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house be to rent?
How long does it take to get to the city(by car)?
Umm, that's all I can think of. I don't really know the NOR suburbs all that well, so I thought I'd get some opinions off you guys.
Thanks in advance! :)

We lived in Padbury before moving to Melbourne. $220pw for a 3 bed 1 bath house with garage and yard. Nice area, I can't comment on schools or daycare, my daycare was in Shenton Park closer to the city. 18 min drive to the CBD in non-rush hour, 30-40 min rush hour. 5 min drive to the beach just north of Hilarys, 10-15 minutes to big shopping centre at Joondalup.

Hi
I live in Subi, it only takes about 5 mins to get to city. There are some really nice schools around but the daycare centres are pretty full. It takes about 10 mins to get to floreat beach and 15 -20 to Joondalup up the freeway (when it is empty!!)
I looked it up on REIWA and rent for a house like you described is $370-600. It says the median rent is $250ish, but it looks like that is for a one bed unit:eek:
Wembley, Jolimont, leederville and West leederville are all pretty much the same.
Hi Tracey,
I also live in Clarkson, I have been here for nearly 5mths and love it. It has it all fairly new shopping centre, train station, beach, plenty of schools and daycare centres.
I'm in a 4bed 2 bath home at the moment and we pay 190pw.
Which uni are u at? Is it ECU? And where does hubby work?

Hey,
I'm in Wanneroo. It is really nice quiet up here. We are not really close to the freeway, but it is only about 10mins to get on it.
It is about half an hour to the city.
There are a couple of good daycare centres near by & there is new ABC Learning Centre being built just up the road from us. We have a couple of primary schools in the area, one of which onlt opened at the beginning of the year.
It is a nice older area.
Which uni are u at? Is it ECU? And where does hubby work?
I am at ECU Churchlands this year, and then I will be at ECU Joondalup next year. DP works at Burswood Casino, but by then he'll probably be working on the mine sites.
So I guess if I move up that way, I'll have you lovely ladies to annoy while he's away! lol. ;)
Thanks everyone for your replies, I really appreciate it!
Hey Tracey,
We'll love to have you up this way annoying us. Maybe get a place near Joondalup even in Joondalup (may be expensive there I'm not sure) but there are plenty of nice places up this way. Hubby will have a little way to travel to the airport but at tleast u'll be closer to Uni. :yelclap:
Happy house hunting, have you had a look on the net at realestate.com.au, or REIWA, you can set up an email warning of new places that come up.
Clarkson seems to be ideal for us, pricewise, etc. I've been havin a look at houses on realestate.com.au and I found like the PERFECT house...sooo we could possibly be moving soon coz I really want that place lol. It's just a matter of getting out of our lease here and stuff.
We own two cars, so travelling to uni is no problem, it won't take half as long as it does for here, and that's what I'm looking for really.
Who knows, but I'm glad I won't be so far away from u guys! hehe.
Yay :yelclap: :smiliedance: :D for us.
